Autoria à venda: ghost writers no Brasil
TCC (graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Centro de Comunicação e Expressão. Jornalismo.
Study of the response of CFRP composite laminates to a laser-induced shock
Laser-induced shock yields to a local tensile stress within a sample. This high strain rate stress can be used to verify the bond strength between two layers. This method has been applied to Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) composite laminates, involved in aeronautic or defense industry. Experiments have been carried out on high power laser facility in the nanosecond regime. A velocimetry interferometer has been used to record the material velocity at the back surface of the samples. This study provides a comprehensive approach of the response of CFRP laminates of different thicknesses to a shock load normal to the fibres direction. The stress waves generation and propagation within the laminate and the induced delamination are key issues of this work. The main result is the ability of the technique to evaluate the out-of-plane strength of these laminate
Efficacy of bifocal diagnosis-independent group psychoeducation in severe psychiatric disorders: results from a randomized controlled trial
Despite evidence for its efficacy, diagnosis-specific psychoeducation is not routinely applied. This exploratory randomized controlled trial analyses the efficacy of an easily implementable bifocal diagnosis-mixed group psychoeducation in the treatment of severe psychiatric disorders regarding readmission, compliance and clinical variables, for example global functioning. Inpatients of the Psychiatric Hospital of the University of Basel (N=82) were randomly assigned to a diagnosis-mixed psychoeducational (PE) or a non-specific intervention control group. Relatives were invited to join corresponding family groups. Results at baseline, 3- and 12-month follow-ups are presented. Better compliance after 3months and a lower suicide rate were significant in favour of PE. For most other outcome variables, no significant differences, however advantages, in PE were found. In summary, it can be concluded that diagnosis-mixed group psychoeducation is effective in the treatment of severe psychiatric disorders. The effects can be classified as induced by distinctive psychoeducational elements. Findings similar to those on psychosis-specific programmes justify clinical application and further investigatio

Exploring the possibilities of a new technique for the shear strengthening of RC elements
In the present work, the possibilities of a CFRP-based strengthening technique, herein designated
Core Drilled Mounted (CDM) technique, to increase the shear resistance of reinforced concrete (RC)
elements were explored. For this purpose, an exploratory experimental program of short beam shear
specimens was carefully carried out with the purpose of capturing the main features of the CFRP bar
contribution for the concrete shear resistance. The adopted monitoring system was able of
establishing a relationship between crack opening, crack sliding and strains in the CFRP
strengthening bar, for each applied load. From the obtained results it was observed that a CFRP
reinforcement ratio of 0.2% contributed for a 26% increment in terms of specimen shear resistance.
Furthermore, at a crack width of 0.3 mm the strain level in the CFRP was enough significant to show that this
is a promising strengthening technique for the shear and punching resistance of RC structures. It was also
observed that the contribution of the CFRP bars was more effective when concrete cohesive failure mode
occurred, indicating that bar-adhesive debond failure mode should be avoided, which requires to select the
most appropriate FRP-adhesive system
The high-intensity hyperon beam at CERN
A high-intensity hyperon beam was constructed at CERN to deliver Sigma- to
experiment WA89 at the Omega facility and operated from 1989 to 1994. The setup
allowed rapid changeover between hyperon and conventional hadron beam
configurations. The beam provided a Sigma-flux of 1.4 x 10^5 per burst at mean
momenta between 330 and 345 Gev/c, produced by about 3 x 10^10 protons of 450
GeV/c . At the experiment target the beam had a Sigma-/pi- ratio close to 0.4
and a size of 1.6 x 3.7 cm^2. The beam particle trajectories and their momenta
were measured with a scintillating fibre hodoscope in the beam channel and a
silicon microstrip detector at the exit of the channel. A fast transition
radiation detector was used to identify the pion component of the beam.Comment: 20 pages, 13 figures. Submitted to Nucl. Instr. Meth.
Sarcoidosis: Psychotherapy and Long-Term Outcome—A Case Report
Sarcoidosis is a systemic, inflammatory disease of unknown aetiology, influenced by stressful life events and associated with a high incidence of alexithymic personality traits, and of depressive symptoms. The medical literature on sarcoidosis has called for a psychotherapeutic intervention to modify the perceived state of disease, the influence of stressful events and the depressive condition. Few studies have described cases treated with psychotherapy, and no information is available on its long-term outcome.
We present the case of a patient with chronic sarcoidosis and periodical reacutizations with constantly pathological ESR. Twenty-four years after the diagnosis, a dynamic supportive-expressive psychotherapy for psychosomatic alexithymic patients was added to the medical therapy. At the beginning and at the end of the psychotherapy, and for the long-term outcome evaluations, Kellner's symptom questionnaire (SQ) was used to investigate psychological distress. The SQ scores, initially pathological, were normal at the end of the psychotherapy and for the following three years. Psychotherapy, without antidepressive drugs, resolved the depression. The depressive symptoms disappeared, along with the normalization and stabilization of the ESR. After three years, the outcome was positive. This is the first study describing a successful psychotherapy and its long-term outcome on a patient with sarcoidosis
Assessment of the effectiveness of the embedded through-section technique for the shear strengthening of RC beams
Embedded Through-Section (ETS) technique is a relatively recent shear strengthening strategy for reinforced
concrete (RC) beams, and consists on opening holes across the depth of the beam’s cross section, with the desired
inclinations, where bars are introduced and are bonded to the concrete substrate with adhesive materials. To assess
the effectiveness of this technique, a comprehensive experimental program composed of 14 RC beams was carried
out, and the obtained results confirm the feasibility of the ETS method and revealed that: (i) inclined ETS
strengthening bars were more effective than vertical ETS bars, and the shear capacity of the beams has increased
with the decrease of the spacing between bars; (ii) brittle shear failure was converted in ductile flexural failure, and
(iii) the contribution of the ETS strengthening bars for the beam shear resistance was limited by the concrete
crushing or due to the yielding of the longitudinal reinforcement. The applicability of the ACI 318 (2008) and
Eurocode 2 (2004) standard specifications for shear resistance was examined and a good agreement between
the experimental and analytical results was obtained. The study reported in this article is part of the research project 'DURCOST', PTDC/ECM/105700/2008, supported by FCT.
