Comparison Of Statistical Failure Models To Support Sewer System Operation
Currently, achieving appropriate operative performance of water infrastructure has become a high priority in urbanized areas. Particularly, providing reliable sewerage service is central for human well-being and its development (Kleidorfer, et al. 2013). Having that wastewater system management is an increasingly complex task due to a number of hardly predictable factors (e.g. deterioration of system components and climate variability), recent research efforts have been focusing on developing methods to identify optimum proactive rehabilitation and maintenance strategies, some of which are based on the identification of the sewerage structures in most need of attention. To meet such a goal, different forecast failure models for urban water infrastructure have been recently developed. These models are able to assess the future behavior of water supply and sewer system structures. This study presents the comparison of two different failure statistical packages for urban water systems: (a) The FAIL software that calculates failure predictions based on two alternative stochastic processes, the single-variate Poisson process and the Linear Extended Yule process (LEYP) (see Martins et al., 2013) and (b) The SIMA software that, trough out a series of statistical tests, selects a failure model that is based either on an homogeneous Poisson process (HPP), a renewal process or a non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP), which allows changes of trend in the failure intensity (see Rodríguez, et al. 2012). Those different statistical models are applied to two contrasting urban wastewater systems: Bogotá (Colombia, 7.5 million inhabitants) and Oeiras e Amadora (Portugal, 10.000 inhabitants). Customer complaints and failure databases were gathered in order to analyze two different types of sewer failures named sediment-related blockages and structural failures. Multiple analyses are carried out in order to assess the impact of sewer system characteristics, system complexity, spatial resolution and data availability onto models forecasting efficiency
No era tan difícil encontrarlo... Nuevos registros de Lyncodon patagonicus (De Blainville, 1842) (Mammalia, Carnivora, Mustelidae) en la provincia de La Rioja, Argentina
The Patagonian weasel, Lyncodon patagonicus, is one of the least known carnivorous species of South America. Specifically for La Rioja province, there are only two reports of the species that date from the beginning of the 20th century. We describe new records of this species for this province that corresponds to the first records of L. patagonicus for La Rioja in more than 80 years. Moreover, the distribution of the species in La Rioja is expanded to an area within the ecoregion of "Monte de Sierras y Bolsones" that showed high probability values of presence on previous studies of potential distribution.El huroncito patagónico, Lyncodon patagonicus, es una de las especies de carnívoros menos conocidas de Sudamérica. Logistic regression for BLER prediction in 5G
In this work, a block error rate (BLER) predictor for 5G based on logistic regression is presented. The regression is fed with transmission parameters and channel statistics. With these features, the predictor can model the behaviour of the transmission chain, including the low parity channel code (LDPC). In particular, for each modulation and coding scheme (MCS), the regression model uses as features the mean of the SINR over the allocated resources and the squared distance to the mean. Moreover, a single model able to cope with a set of modulation and coding schemes (MCSs) at the expense of certain accuracy loss is also proposed, and its performance evaluated. Possible applications for the regression models such as end-to-end modelling or as part of the adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) function are explored. Results show that the model has excellent accuracy in a wide set of scenarios

Birthdays are special events for everybody and for most of people it is an important date in their life, it is the day where they feel honoured and appreciated by their friends, family, acquaintances…
The main reason for creating an application dedicated to make from the Birthday event a fun game, is generated after bearing in mind how the tradition of giving presents to honour a birthday person is something important in many people\u27s lives.
Another aspect considered during the conception of this application is how fast the world is moving, and how sometimes it could be beneficial to have different options to make from an event something different and special.
Under this knowledge it is importantly understood that creating an app is a work that requires significant amounts of time and attention. Something that in a fast pace world like this can be considered a luxury.Nevertheless, the opportunity to offer something different to a specific target of users, who enjoy gaming options, is an interesting and worthwhile challenge to be taken
Independent directors and environmental innovations: How the visibility of public and private shareholders' environmental activism moderates the influence of board independence
While independent directors focus on preserving the shareholders' interests, their
individual preferences may differ with regard to how environmental innovations have
to be considered. A growing importance of shareholders' environmental activism has
sought to influence firms' environmental practices through public proposals and private
negotiations with executives. Using a sample of 7111 firms listed in the S&P
1500 index between 2006 and 2019, we examine how the visibility of shareholders'
environmental proposals moderates the relationship between board independence
and environmental innovations. Our findings show that public and private shareholder
activism related to community issues and external reporting reinforces the
positive influence of independent directors on firms' environmental innovations.
However, private dialogues between executives and environmental activists focused
on emissions from company operations diminish the influence of independent directors.
Our study sheds light on how the external visibility of the topics involved in the
activists' environmental proposals reinforces the interest of independent directors in
advancing environmental innovations.Spanish Research Agency (Ministry of Science and Innovation), Grant/Award Numbers: PID2019-106725GB-I00, PDC2021-120953-I00, TED2021-129829B- 100Unit of Excellence Advanced Research in Economics and Business at the University of Granada, Grant/Award Number: ExcelEB202
The pollutant emissions of vehicles with gasoline engine are analyzed, carrying out a verification of polluting emissions with static test, which allows knowing the chemical composition of five combustion gases coming from the exhaust of cars: CO, CO, NOx and unburned hydrocarbons (HC) as well as excess oxygen (O2). Random tests of emissions of polluting gases of private vehicles will be carried out, taking as sample the vehicles that move to the facilities of the UAEM Nezahualcóyotl University Center. The results will be analyzed based on the criteria established in the pollutant emission standards established for the circulation of light automotive vehicles (NOM-041-SEMARNAT-2015, NOM 042-SEMARNAT-2003 and NOM-EM-167- SEMARNAT-2016 ). As a result of the investigation, the polluting emissions from car exhaust were measured, the relationship between the type of pollutant found, the possible causes or failures in the emission control systems of gasoline vehicles was established. Odontogenic myxoma: Literature review
The odontogenic myxoma (OM) is a locally aggressive and infiltrating benign tumor that originates from the odontogenic ectomesenchyme. It represents the third most prevalent odontogenic tumor. It presents a predilection for the female sex, affecting the first and fourth decade of life. Clinically it is asymptomatic, however, it can generate facial asymmetry, causing an expansion of the bone cortices, dental displacement, root resorption. Radiographically, odontogenic myxoma generally presents a multilocular radiographic pattern that can vary in appearance, including "soap bubble", "honeycomb" and "tennis racket" or "sunbeam" shapes. In histological studies, the odontogenic myxoma is observed to be composed of stellate to spindle-shaped cells wrapped in an abundant extracellular matrix rich in mucin, without encapsulation and that may contain epithelial residues. Treatment is variable and corresponds to the size of the lesion. Well, there are conservative treatments focused on curettage or radical treatments and in the same way the recurrence of this lesion will depend on the type of treatment. The objective of this article is to evaluate demographic aspects such as age; location; prevalence; clinical, radiographic and histological analysis; treatment, results and recurrence
