Temporal Electrical Response of V/W-shaped Chiral Smectic Liquid Crystal Displays

Chiral smectic liquid crystal cells showing V-shaped electrooptical switching have been reported as one of the most promising technologies for high-end display applications. In this work, time-resolved electrical behaviour of these devices has been obtained through a set of systematic measurements. The electrical equivalent circuit has been derived, a number of simulations at different frequencies have been performed using commercial software for analogue circuits. Performance of this electrical model to account for time domain variations of switching currents in chiral smectic LC displays with V/W-shaped electrooptical response has been analyzed as well

Altres ajuts: Roche Farma, S.A.This retrospective observational study analyzed the clinical characteristics, treatment patterns and outcomes of 120 patients with advanced ALK-positive nonsmall-cell lung cancer (ALK+ NSCLC) according to data collected between November 2019 and October 2020 in 38 Spanish hospitals. Patients had progressed after 1-5 prior treatment lines (which included crizotinib in any prior line) and received subsequent therapy with alectinib in a local expanded access program. Median age was 58.7 years, 50% of patients were female, 64.1% had ECOG PS of 0-1, 85% presented stage IV, 95% had adenocarcinoma histology and 20.8% had brain metastases. After a median 9.6 months of alectinib treatment, objective response rate (ORR) was 54.5%, disease control rate (DCR) was 80%, median progression-free survival (PFS) was 9.4 months and median overall survival (OS) was 24.1 months. Patients with brain metastases achieved an intracranial DCR of 71.4%. Adverse events (AEs) were reported in 35.8% of patients (14.2% of AEs were grade ≥3). Over 40% of patients received some treatment after alectinib, most frequently lorlatinib (65.2%) and brigatinib (32.6%). This study provides information on real-world treatment patterns and confirms the tolerability and prolonged PFS and OS observed with alectinib in clinical trials, in unselected pretreated patients with advanced ALK+ NSCLC

Towards the Rose Genome Sequence and Its Use in Research and Breeding

International audienceRose is one of the most economically important ornamental crops worldwide. Rosa sp. can become a model for woody ornamentals. Its genome size is relatively small (560 Mb), its genetic history with ploidy events is well documented, and rose has a short life for a woody plant. Furthermore, different tools are available, including transcriptomic tools, genetic maps and genetic transformation protocols. Rose represents an original model for studying some ornamental traits that cannot be addressed in other model plant species such as Arabidopsis. Some of these traits, such recurrent blooming, flower morphogenesis or scent production and emission, are of economic interest. Different groups involved in rose genetics and genomics gathered to form the 'Rose Genome Sequence Initiative'. Our objective is to obtain a high quality rose genome sequence of the diploid R. chinensis 'Old Blush'. One important issue is the high level of heterozygosity of roses. To tackle this issue, different strategies are proposed: production of a haploid and development a high density genetic map to anchor the genome. This genetic map will be developed from a cross between 'Old Blush' and R. wichurana. The genotype R. chinensis 'Old Blush' will be sequenced using NGS technologies. The data will be assembled and arranged using the high-density map. In order to increase ESTs and to facilitate genome annotation, we have recently produced ESTs from various tissues of 'Old Blush' under different conditions. Digital expression (RNA Seq) was obtained from the different tissues and data are available on the following web site (https://iant.toulouse.inra.fr/plants/rosa/FATAL/). The rose genome sequence will be a great step to help identifying the molecular basis of ornamental traits and also to study genetic diversity and genome evolution in the genus Rosa and in the Rosaceae family
