Exvotos ibéricos de bronce: aspectos tipológicos y tecnológicos

On the basis of a systematic study of collections in the National Archaeological Museurn of Madrid and the Archaeological Museum of Barcelona, bronze figurines of the Iberian period are put into typological order. The possible methods by which the figurines were manufactured are discussed. Our conclusions are based on a qualitative and quantiative archaeometallurgical analysis of a representative sample of the figurines. We no longer believe it is possible to date theses pieces simply on the basis of their «stylistic» characteristics.A partir del estudio sistemático de las colecciones de figuras de bronce ibéricas del Museo Arqueológico Nacional de Madrid y del Museo Arqueológico de Barcelona, se establece su ordenación tipológica, y se indican los posibles procesos de fabricación seguidos en su elaboración. Apoyado todo ello, en la realización de un número representativo de análisis arqueometalúrgicos, tanto cualitativos como cuantitativos. Se rechaza la posibilidad de seguir fechando estas piezas en función exclusiva de sus rasgos «estilísticos»

Los exvotos anatómicos del santuario ibérico de Collado de los Jardines (Santa Elena, Jaén)

This paper contains a study and catalogue of the bronze anatomical votive offerings (Iegs, set of teeth, eyes, arms, etc.) from the Iberian sanctuary of Despeñaperros (Andalucía) contained in the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid. Ethnographic parallels are established with similar contemporary votive offerings, and finds of such votivc offerings in other Iberian sanctuaries are reviewed.Estudio y catalogación de los llamados exvotos anatómicos (piernas, dentaduras, ojos, brazos, etc.), en bronce, procedentes del santuario ibérico de Despeñaperros, que se hallan en el Museo Arqueológico Nacional. Se establecen paralelos etnográficos con los exvotos similares contemporáneos y se revisa su aparición en otros santuarios ibéricos

Funerary and religious spaces in the iberian culture: readings form the gender archaeology

Presentamos en este trabajo algunas líneas de investigación que estamos desarrollando en el marco del Proyecto denominado “La imagen de la mujer en el mundo ibérico” (2002-2004), en el que se integran investigadoras de distintas universidades, el CSIC y los Museos Estatales. Partimos del marco teórico, las ideas y los debates dentro de la llamada Arqueología del género para valorar la imagen femenina en la cultura ibérica en distintos contextos arqueológicos. Se plantea una reflexión sobre el mundo funerario –con el análisis de los ajuares, los restos antropológicos y la iconografía mostrada en los monumentos en piedra–, así como el espacio religioso y la valoración de sus rituales.In this paper we present some important lines of research that we are developing in the project called “The image of the women in the Iberian Culture” (2002-2004). In this project there are researchers coming from different Universities, the CSIC and the National Museums. We start with the theoretical frame, the ideas and the discussions within the so-called Gender Archaeology, to evaluate the female image in the Iberian Culture. We present different Iberian archaeological contexts as the funerary world, with the analysis of the furniture, the anthropological remains and the iconography of the monuments carved on stone; or the religious space of the Iberian sanctuaries and its rituals
