Funerary and religious spaces in the iberian culture: readings form the gender archaeology

Abstract

Presentamos en este trabajo algunas líneas de investigación que estamos desarrollando en el marco del Proyecto denominado “La imagen de la mujer en el mundo ibérico” (2002-2004), en el que se integran investigadoras de distintas universidades, el CSIC y los Museos Estatales. Partimos del marco teórico, las ideas y los debates dentro de la llamada Arqueología del género para valorar la imagen femenina en la cultura ibérica en distintos contextos arqueológicos. Se plantea una reflexión sobre el mundo funerario –con el análisis de los ajuares, los restos antropológicos y la iconografía mostrada en los monumentos en piedra–, así como el espacio religioso y la valoración de sus rituales.In this paper we present some important lines of research that we are developing in the project called “The image of the women in the Iberian Culture” (2002-2004). In this project there are researchers coming from different Universities, the CSIC and the National Museums. We start with the theoretical frame, the ideas and the discussions within the so-called Gender Archaeology, to evaluate the female image in the Iberian Culture. We present different Iberian archaeological contexts as the funerary world, with the analysis of the furniture, the anthropological remains and the iconography of the monuments carved on stone; or the religious space of the Iberian sanctuaries and its rituals
