This project develops the study of PV panels made with new technologies such as bifacial cells or EVA encapsulation method, and also placed in different ways like south, west and east facing. These panels have been placed on TR14 roof (Gaia building, ESEIAAT). The research starts with the PV panels’ assembly and it finishes with the study of the data recollected. The process between the first and last step comprises many point to take care: Checking and installation of each component of the system (sensors, wires, PV panels, converters, storage system…) as well as the communication between them and the software programing in charge of recollect the information. The whole analysis is based on the experimental point of view, following the chain of implementation of a system that consists of the stages of development, verification and implementation; evaluating functionality and interoperability with the user. The first part of this document collects the information about the PV panels, placement and testing of their features. Then the project is focused in the installation and start-up of the system after the processes of verification, issues resolutions from sensors, PV panels, inverters and other components. We will see also the software programing in order to manage the system and specially the monitoring data to be studied in the future. This project makes a lineal process tracing along the time but due the vast quantity of components and odds of failure of them there are some setbacks that have not been already solved. This paper studies an important aspect of the Hebrew marriage, the wedding gifts among the husband and the wife, from unpublished documentation from the sefardi community established in the Italian city of Pisa since the end of the 16th century. However, apparently, no text has been preserved directly testimony the issue. For this reason this study has analyzed and edited a record of the first hefty volume of atti civili -signature 1286 of the historical archive of the Hebrew community of Pisa- from January and February 1685, in which there are a lot of references about it. The filed record -the number 39 entitled “Cáceres versus Abinum”- consists of the demand for the return of the wedding gifts requested by Ester de Cáceres to Yehoshua Abinum and his daughter Luna (Ester’s daughter-in-law) to be able to fulfill the payment of the family debts

Funding for open access charge: Universidad de Granada/CBUA. The authors also appreciate the support of the research group TEP-968 (Technologies for Circular Economy) of the University of Granada (Spain) .The effectiveness of impact assessment (IA) methods has been a neglected topic in procedural effectiveness research, which has placed higher relevance on the quality of Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) and the environment impact assessment (EIA) process in general. This study analysed the effectiveness of methods used in IA in Colombia to demonstrate that they have been used in compliance with the Terms of Reference (ToR) but did not analyse their effectiveness. A total of 131 EIS were analysed using a revised version of the Effectiveness Index for Environmental Impact Assessment Methods (EIM) proposed by Caro and Toro (2016). It is concluded that, even if the environmental authority has accepted the EIS as a requirement for obtaining an environmental license, most of the methods that have been used in these technical documents, obtained a medium or low degree of effectiveness. The parameters regulated for the law have a higher percentage of compliance. The analysis suggests that the guidelines provided for the law, related to the design and implementation of the methods, should be improved to develop an effective EIA.Universidad de Granada/CBUAUniversity of Granada (Spain) TEP-96

    Illumination Estimation from Dichromatic Planes

    Get PDF
Adopting the dichromatic reflection model under the assumption of neutral interface reflection, the color of the illuminating light can be estimated by intersecting the planes that the color response of two or more different materials describe. From the color response of any given region, most approaches estimate a single plane on the assumption that only a single material is imaged. This assumption, however, is often violated in cluttered scenes. In this paper, rather than a single planar model, several coexisting planes are used to explain the observed color response. In estimating the illuminant, a set of candidate lights is assessed for goodness of fit given the assumed number of coexisting planes. The candidate light giving the minimum error fit is then chosen as representative of the scene illuminant. The performance of the proposed approach is explored on real images

Bifurcations and aggregation in large scale systems

    Get PDF
This paper deals with the following problem: assume that a qualitative analysis (behaviour modes, bifurcation points, type of atractors .•• ) of a nonlinear dynamical system has been carried out and that afterwards this dynamical system is transformed into a large scale system through a disaggregating process of some (or all) of its variables. The problem at stake is to analyze whether the disagaregation gives rise to new behaviour modes, as a consequence of the appearance of new bifurcations in the disaggregated dynamical system. That leads us to study whether the original system and the disaggregated one are "equivalents" or whether the second one is richer in behaviours than the first one.The paper develops general results for standard disaggregation forms. Furthermore, practical applications of the proposed methodology to urban dynamics models is included .Comisión Asesora de Investigación Científica y Técnica (CAICYT) 1102/8

From procedural to transformative: A review of the evolution of effectiveness in EIA

    Get PDF
The concept of effectiveness has become a relevant topic in environmental impact assessment (EIA) or impact assessment (IA) research in response to the need to improve the decision-making process. Although some studies have included reviews of the state of the art on the concept of EIA effectiveness, there are no reported studies that use bibliometric analysis to describe in detail the historical evolution of effectiveness in EIA. The aims of this study are to define the geographic areas where more research is being carried out on this topic, identify the coworking network developed in this field and the main trends in research on the effectiveness of EIA to review the evolution of the concept and its dimensions. To achieve these objectives, data obtained through the implementation of the PRISMA methodology and bibliometric analysis were considered. For this purpose, 280 publications on EIA effectiveness obtained from a systematic review in the Scopus database between 1997 and 2021 were selected. As a novelty, a performance analysis, a keyword analysis as well as a content analysis based on bibliometric indicators were developed. The results show that the main geographic regions where research on EIA effectiveness and cross-country collaboration is concentrated are the United Kingdom, Australia and South Africa. In addition, the most common research topics, and the evolution over the years of the dimensions of effectiveness are determined. It was found that the procedural approach still has a significant place in the analysis of effectiveness; however, the intention to study in detail the legitimacy of the EIA, the role of stakeholders, and the evaluation of EIA systems based on the dimensions of effectiveness (procedural, substantive, transactive and legitimacy) is recognized. The concept of EIA effectiveness is transforming, in fact recent research reflects a paradigm shift in which the reductionist vision of EIA is being replaced by a more complex approach. Therefore, it is concluded that it is necessary to address new elements of analysis to generate significant changes and improve the effectiveness in the EIA process

Analysis of single‑ and dual‑dictionary strategies in pedestrian classifcation

    Get PDF
Sparse coding has recently been a hot topic in visual tasks in image processing and computer vision. It has applications and brings benefts in reconstruction-like tasks and in classifcation-like tasks as well. However, regarding binary classifcation problems, there are several choices to learn and use dictionaries that have not been studied. In particular, how single-dictionary and dual-dictionary approaches compare in terms of classifcation performance is largely unexplored. We compare three single-dictionary strategies and two dual-dictionary strategies for the problem of pedestrian classifcation (“pedestrian” vs “background” images). In each of these fve cases, images are represented as the sparse coefcients induced from the respective dictionaries, and these coefcients are the input to a regular classifer both for training and subsequent classifcation of novel unseen instances. Experimental results with the INRIA pedestrian dataset suggest, on the one hand, that dictionaries learned from only one of the classes, even from the background class, are enough for obtaining competitive good classifcation performance. On the other hand, while better performance is generally obtained when instances of both classes are used for dictionary learning, the representation induced by a single dictionary learned from a set of instances from both classes provides comparable or even superior performance over the representations induced by two dictionaries learned separately from the pedestrian and background classes
