Blown-up \v{C}ech cohomology and Cartan's Theorem B on real algebraic varieties

We introduce a concept of blown-up \v{C}ech cohomology for coherent sheaves of homological dimension $\leq 1$ and some quasi-coherent sheaves on a non-singular real affine variety. Its construction involves a directed set of multi-blowups. We establish, in particular, long exact cohomology sequence and Cartan's Theorem B. Finally, some applications are provided, including universal solution to the first Cousin problem (after blowing up)

Interesting vascular plants species of the Lesko Foothills (the Eastern Carpathian Mts.)

This paper presents 63 interesting vascular plant species from the Lesko Foothills region. Seven of them are mentioned in the "Red Book of the Polish Carpathian Mountains" and 19 in the "Red list of the vascular plants of Poland". Most of the presented species are strictly protected. Some kenophytes (species introduced to Poland after 1500 AD), which have not been noted in the Lesko Foothills before, were also considered

Sums of even powers of polynomials

We show that the higher Pythagoras numbers for the polynomial ring are infinite $p_{2s}(K[x_1,x_2,\dots,x_n])=\infty$ provided that $K$ is a real field, $n\geq2$ and $s\geq 1$. This almost fully solves an old question [16, Problem 8]. Moreover, we study in detail the cone of binary octics that are sums of fourth powers of quadratic forms. We determine its facial structure as well as its algebraic boundary. This can also be seen as sums of fourth powers of linear forms on the second Veronese of $\mathbb{P}^1$. As a result, we disprove a conjecture of Reznick [38, Conjecture 7.1]

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) in the service of biotechnology

Originating in the Andes, the tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) was imported to Europe in the 16th century. At present, it is an important crop plant cultivated all over the world, and its production and consumption continue to increase. This popular vegetable is known as a major source of important nutrients including lycopene, bcarotene, flavonoids and vitamin C as well as hydroxycinnamic acid derivatives. Since the discovery that lycopene has anti-oxidative, anti-cancer properties, interest in tomatoes has grown rapidly. The development of genetic engineering tools and plant biotechnology has opened great opportunities for engineering tomato plants. This review presents examples of successful tissue culture and genetically modified tomatoes which resistance to a range of environmental stresses improved, along with fruit quality. Characterizing optimal hierarchical policy inference on graphs via non-equilibrium thermodynamics

Hierarchies are of fundamental interest in both stochastic optimal control and biological control due to their facilitation of a range of desirable computational traits in a control algorithm and the possibility that they may form a core principle of sensorimotor and cognitive control systems. However, a theoretically justified construction of state-space hierarchies over all spatial resolutions and their evolution through a policy inference process remains elusive. Here, a formalism for deriving such normative representations of discrete Markov decision processes is introduced in the context of graphs. The resulting hierarchies correspond to a hierarchical policy inference algorithm approximating a discrete gradient flow between state-space trajectory densities generated by the prior and optimal policies.Comment: NIPS 2017 Workshop on Hierarchical Reinforcement Learning. 8 pages, 1 figur

Udział synaps elektrycznych w powstawaniu hipokampalnego rytmu theta w warunkach pozaustrojowych

Badano aktywność elektroencefalograficzną preparatów formacji hipokampa pobieranych od szczurów premedykowanych roztworem blokera synaps elektrycznych, karbenoksolonu (CARB, 100 mg/kg). Wykazano, że dootrzewnowe podanie CARB znosi przejściowo cholinergicznie wywoływany rytm theta oraz skorelowaną z nim aktywność komórek piramidowych pola CA3c formacji hipokampa in vitro. Obserwowany efekt byl całkowicie odwracalny i zależał od czasu odroczenia procedury preparowania skrawków od dootrzewnowej iniekcji karbenoksolonu. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują, że synapsy elektryczne są istotnym elementem zapewniającym poziom synchronizacji aktywności sieci neuronalnej formacji hipokampa, niezbędny do powstawania rytmu theta. Comparative analysis of interface sketch design tools in the context of User Experience

The design stage plays a significant role in software development. Making skeleton models helps to understand the specification and requirements of the product. Design tools, as well as any other tools, should focus on User Experience. The aim of the publication is to compare tools for sketching interfaces taking into account User Experience. The main criterion for the evaluation of the tools was a test consisting in measuring the time and distance of a computer mouse during the execution of a given application sketch in 8 selected tools. Then, the respondents assessed the possibilities and experiences resulting from working in a given tool. This was supplemented by the assessment of the technical criteria. Ultimately, the best and the worst tools were selected according to the research subgroups. The level of education has been proven to influence the evaluation of interface sketch design tools

The author in his article presents one of the most important problems of the contemporary election law. He takes up the meaning of the most important rule of election law – universality. At the beginning of dissertation author presents attributes of election law and definition of election laws rule in corpore. Then author presents five different views on universality and their analysis. The paper presents 66 new species of interesting vascular plant species from the San Valley Landscape Park. Most of them are strictly protected and are mentioned in Polish Red Books and Red List of Endangered Plants. Invasive alien taxa are also considered in the list of species

Design of End Effector for Cardboard Box Palletizing

Bakalářská práce se zabývá konstrukčním návrhem efektoru pro manipulaci s dvěma druhy krabic a kartonovými proklady. Úvodní část práce seznamuje s podtlakovými úchopnými hlavicemi a vakuovými ejektory. V další části práce jsou navrženy tři varianty řešení, z kterých byla vybrána varianta optimální metodikou vícekriteriální analýzy. Dále se práce zabývá vlastní konstrukcí, potřebnými výpočty a tvorbou výkresové dokumentace. 3D model vybrané varianty je zpracován v CAD systému Creo Parametric.The bachelor thesis is focused on a design of end effector for manipulation with two types of cardboard boxes and cardboard leading. An introductory part acquaints us with suction cups and vacuum ejectors. In the next part of the thesis, three variants of the solution are designed, from which the optimal solution was chosen by multi-criteria analysis.
