    Il “giusnaturalismo” di S. Agostino

Augustinian one of Civitas terrena there is a striking contrast. Guido Fassò believes instead that this antinomy fails if we reflect that St. Augustine is an authentically Christian thinker, and if we recognize that the doctrine of natural law is not authentically Christian. The experience of the development of ethical rationalism in the interpretation of Christianity given by Pelagius would have put an end to all this uncertainty. After the year 411, St. Augustine would have embraced without further hesitation his voluntaristic positions. According to Francesco Cavalla, from the idea of Civitas Dei cannot be inferred a table of values and norms pre-established to legal and political experience. Finally, examining in depth the Augustinian theme of order, Maurizio Manzin notes that for St. Augustine “ordo [est] justitia Dei”, that is the original action which assigns to everyone according to his good or evil. For Augustine, the perspicuity of the universal is not the product of a purely reflective act of reason, but rather the awareness of the presence of a unifying sense among the misfortunes of the multiplicity. In conclusion, the image of St. Augustine as a natural law theorist , at least in the modern traditional sense (which is rationalistic and mathematical), does not stand because of his epistemological foundations just exposed

Politics of Writing: Latin American Testimonio, Brazil\u27s Literatura Marginal and the Question of Neoliberalism

In the light of Latin American testimonio theoretical approach, which includes questions such as the cultural production under the intensification of neoliberal policies and the inquiry of the complicity between literary practices and the state as formulated by Rama in The Lettered City, this study examines the novel Capão Pecado, representative work of the writer and cultural activist Ferréz, and the potential relation to the formal elements of the former criticism. By thinking alongside John Beverley\u27s case study on I, Rigoberta Menchú\u27s testimonial narrative and Ferréz, prominent author of the contemporary production of literatura marginal and representative of the expression of the individual residents of the urban peripheries of the metropolises of Brazil, this study finds not only thematic continuities between the two discursive modes, showing that testimonio not only taught us important lessons and continue to provide a pathway to understanding the growing literary branch in Brazil, but also shows alterations in the patterns of relationship between literary practices, literary field, and the state

This essay analyses Francisco Suárez’s attitude with regard to the thought of Niccolò Machiavelli and the Reason of State. In the frame of historical studies on Spanish political thought in the xvi and xvii century (Maravall, Tierno Galvan, Fernández Santamaria), which divided the autors between «tacitistas mayores» and «tacitistas menores», traditionalists and innovadores, «eticistas» and «arbitraristas», two thesis are examined: the more radical by Carlo Giacon, who opposes the thought of the theologian of Coimbra to that of the Florentine Secretary, and that more soft of Cintia Faraco, who believes to discern a sort of link between the prudence of Machiavelli and that of Suárez. In the Author’s opinion the problem should be resolved considering that the Prince’s law ought to be always just and right, i.e. in conformity with the ethical values, especially with those contained in the natural law.

Background: Implant treatment to replace congenitally missing teeth often involves multidisciplinary input in a secondary care environment. High quality patient care requires an in-depth knowledge of treatment requirements. Aim: This service review aimed to determine treatment needs, efficiency of service and outcomes achieved in hypodontia patients. It also aimed to determine any specific difficulties encountered in service provision, and suggest methods to overcome these. Methods: Hypodontia patients in the Unit of Periodontics of the Scottish referral centre under consideration, who had implant placement and fixed restoration, or review completed over a 31 month period, were included. A standardised data collection form was developed and completed with reference to the patient's clinical record. Information was collected with regard to: the indication for implant treatment and its extent; the need for, complexity and duration of orthodontic treatment; the need for bone grafting and the techniques employed and indicators of implant success. Conclusion: Implant survival and success rates were high for those patients reviewed. Incidence of biological complications compared very favourably with the literature
