    Get PDF
This research explores firms’ motivators to engage in corporate social responsibility (CSR) actions from the middle managers’ perspective. In-depth interviews were conducted with 27 middle managers from Quang Ninh province in Vietnam. Using Carroll’s (1991) CSR pyramid model as the framework for qualitative data analysis, the research finds that, through the middle managers’ lens, firms are motivated to engage with CSR for necessity and sufficiency. The necessity components are profitability, competitive advantage, law compliance, and anti-bureaucracy achievements serving as the maintenance factors; and the sufficient components known as encouraging factors include employee retention, ethical image and reputation. The research contributes to the extension of Carroll’s (1991) CSR pyramid model to the context of local firms in a developing country

    Get PDF
Seed treatment using metallic nanoparticles to stimulate germination and improve crop yields has been published and widely applied in agriculture production. To assess the safety of such methods on plants, the effectiveness and safety of the treatment of soybean Glycine max L. DT12 seeds with cobalt nanoparticles (nCo) before sowing were investigated. Seeds of soybean cultivar DT12 were treated with nCo at two different concentrations (0.165 and 1.65 mg/kg seed) before sowing. Germination rate, growth speed, soybean yield and bean nutrient components were examined throughout a season. Results implied that at a concentration of 0.165 mg/kg, nCo significantly increased germination rates, plant heights, total pods per plant, number of pods having 3 seeds, and crop productivity compared to both the control and seeds treated with a highter concentration of 16.5 mg per kg of seed. However, no significant differences were found between treatments in terms of growth level and seed nutrient contents, including moisture, ash content, mineral (K, Mg and Fe) and crude protein components. In seeds treated with higher concentration, the Ca content was dramatically lower than that of the control and seeds treated with a low concentration, but bean quality was not affected. This study contributes to the effective and sustainable application of nanomaterials in Vietnamese agriculture.

The existing millennium documents the most adverse consequences of global warming which in contrast to pre-industrial era are more devastating. Thus, these prevailing consequences raise numerous concerns regarding the well-being of future and current generation. Scholars, in this regard, are putting efforts punctiliously towards methods that could halt the surging emissions. This paper also attempts to contributes to existing literature by reporting the empirical evidences regarding the role of energy transition technologies, renewable energy production (REP), trade openness, green investment, and carbon taxes in carbon neutrality in Chinse economy covering the time span of 1980–2020. By employing Dynamic Auto-regressive Distributed Lags (DARDL) model to check the association, findings exposed that electricity production from water sources, electricity production from solar sources, REP, trade openness, green investment, and carbon taxes are negatively correlated with CO2 emissions. Study offers policymakers a help in formulating policies related to achieve carbon neutrality using renewable sources of energy production, carbon taxes, and green investmen

Risk is inherent in all business functions and in every kind of activities. This is especially true for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) that are most exposed to the harmful effects of the risks, due to limited resources and structural features. Therefore, this study is conducted for identifying the relationship and impact strategic risk determinants including Political risks, Technological risks, Social risks on the growth of 30 small and medium forest enterprises (SMFEs) in Dien Bien as the case study. Political risks, Technological risks, Social risks are independent variables and the growth of SMFEs is a dependent variable. Data were collected through the questionnaire survey and using mean, correlation and regression analysis for this paper. The results show that there is a statistically significant negative correlation between strategic risk determinants on SMFEs growth. Keywords: Political risks, Technological risks, Social risks, Growth, SME

In this paper, by using qualitative analytical analysis with 2 case examples of Thanh nien and Tuoi tre newspapers (online) in Vietnam, in which there are history of publishing fakes news online from 2015, 2016, 2018, 2022 (with very bad editors Nguyen Ngoc Toan and Dang Thi Phuong Thao), as well as giaoduc.edu.vn and vietnamnet.vn in 2022 so we will address some points in this study based on answers for question: “What are regulatory lessons from Indonesia and Japan approaches on publishing fake news?”. We would suggest that there are penalties for negative behaviors of posting fake news online (any fake information) in the context of covid 19 epidemic. Tapsell (2019) defined ‘hoax news’ as similar to the more globally recognized term ‘fake news’: material deliberately fabricated and masqueraded as truth. At last, we will draw some lessons from K.Marx and Ho Chi Minh viewpoints on journalism for educating young generation in emerging markets such as Vietnam

Some of anaerobic, mesophilic sulfate-reducing bacteria that produce H₂S and cause microbial metal corrosion can degrade crude oil in anaerobic conditions. In this study, a mesophilic sulfate-reducing bacterial strain D107G3 isolated from Bach Ho gas-oil field in Vung Tau, Vietnam that is able to utilize crude oil in the anaerobic condition is reported. The strain D107G3 was classified as a Gram-negative bacterium by using Gram staining method. Basing on scanning microscopy observation, the cell of a strain D107G3 had a curved rod shape. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that the strain D107G3 was identified as Desulfovibrio vulgaris with 99.7% identity. The suitable conditions for its growth that was determined via estimating its H₂S production was the modified Postgate B medium containing 1% (v/v) crude oil, 1% NaCl (w/v), pH 7 and 300C incubation. In these conditions, the strain D107G3 can consume 11.4 % of crude oil total and oxidize heavy crude oil (≥ C45) for one month at anoxic condition. These obtained results not only contribute to the science but also continue to warn about the dangers of mesophilic sulfate reducing bacteria to the process of crude oil exploitation, use, and storage in Vung Tau, Vietnam.Trong bài báo này, chủng vi khuẩn khử sunphat (KSF) ưa ấm D107G3 phân lập từ giếng khoan dầu khí mỏ Bạch Hổ, Vũng Tàu, Việt Nam có khả năng sử dụng dầu thô trong điều kiện kị khí được công bố. In our research, we level strong criticism at the State Professor Council in Vietnam, using the case of Tran Van Tho and other members as a representative illustration of their efforts to impede or restrict the growth of the nation's scientific community. We also do not place enough importance on the publication of bogus news online by various Vietnam publications (Thanhnien.vn and Tuoitre.vn), despite the fact that it may lead to confusion, as well as problems and concern in the community. In addition, we oppose the excessive tuition fees and other expenses that have been imposed by Banking University HCM city Vietnam and other institutions in HCM city in recent years, which have caused difficulties for families, parents, students, and society as a whole. In addition, we use these problematic aspects of the education system in Vietnam as a case study to instruct students majoring in social sciences. After that, the authors apply a strategy based on the laws of Malaysia in order to solve the problem of fake news published in the newspapers tuoi tre and thanh nien in Vietnam throughout the period 2015-2022. After the case discussion that was offered earlier, the authors assess the opinions of President Ho Chi Minh on publishing activities for the purpose of better teaching pupils. This is not the least of the authors' contributions
