An instance of the MIKADO migration model
In this document, we briefly describe the main contribution to the deliverable on experimenting with the implementation of most of the calculi considered in the project. First, we describe how two well known calculi for mobile processes KLAIM and Dπ have been implemented on the top of IMC. We then describe the implementation of the MiKO programming language, an instance of the parametric calculus introduced in the WP1 with the TyCO calculus as the content of the membrane itself. After this, we outline the description of the implementation of the abstract machine for an instance of the Kell Calculus that dedicates particular attention to the proof of its correctness. Our presentation ends with a discussion of the problem of implementing security membranes on the top of an execution platform
Are the HI deficient galaxies on the outskirts of Virgo recent arrivals?
The presence on the Virgo cluster outskirts of spiral galaxies with gas
deficiencies as strong as those of the inner galaxies stripped by the
intracluster medium has led us to explore the possibility that some of these
peripheral objects are not newcomers. A dynamical model for the collapse and
rebound of spherical shells under the point mass and radial flow approximations
has been developed to account for the amplitude of the motions in the Virgo I
cluster (VIC) region. According to our analysis, it is not unfeasible that
galaxies far from the cluster, including those in a gas-deficient group well to
its background, went through its core a few Gyr ago. The implications would be:
(1) that the majority of the HI-deficient spirals in the VIC region might have
been deprived of their neutral hydrogen by interactions with the hot
intracluster medium; and (2) that objects spending a long time outside the
cluster cores might keep the gas deficient status without altering their
morphology.Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ. 4 pages, 3 figures. Uses emulateapj
Importance of personality for objective and subjective-physical health in older men and women
Objective and subjective health generally have a positive relationship, although their association may be moderated by factors such as gender and personality. We aimed to analyze the association between personality and objective (metabolic syndrome (MetS)) and subjective-physical health in older men and women. For this purpose, in 138 participants (53.6% women, Mage = 66.85), neuroticism, conscientiousness, extraversion, openness, and agreeableness (NEO Five Factor Inventory), subjective-physical health (Short Form Health Survey, SF-36), and MetS (employing waist circumference, blood pressure, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and glycated hemoglobin) were assessed. Logistic regression analysis was performed to analyze whether personality was associated with MetS. Moreover, hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to analyze the relationship between personality or MetS, and subjective-physical health. Finally, gender and personality moderation analyses were performed with PROCESS. Results showed that higher neuroticism was associated with an increased likelihood of MetS, whereas higher neuroticism and lower extraversion were associated with lower subjective-physical health. Moreover, the negative relationship between MetS and subjective-physical health was stronger in individuals with low conscientiousness. Regarding gender differences, only in women, higher extraversion was related to a decreased likelihood of MetS, and MetS was related to lower subjective-physical health. In conclusion, higher neuroticism is the main vulnerability health factor, whereas to a lesser extent extraversion and conscientiousness are protective factors. Furthermore, the association between objective and subjective health is not direct, but it may vary depending on personality and gender
Eosinophilic Esophagitis beyond Eosinophils - an Emerging Phenomenon Overlapping with Eosinophilic Esophagitis: Collegium Internationale Allergologicum (CIA) Update 2023.
Having long been considered the mainstay in eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) diagnosis and pathogenesis, the role of eosinophils has been questioned and might be less important than previously thought. It is well known now that EoE is a Th2-mediated disease with many more disease features than eosinophilic infiltration. With more knowledge on EoE, less pronounced phenotypes or nuances of the disease have become apparent. In fact, EoE might be only the tip of the iceberg (and the most extreme phenotype) with several variant forms, at least three, lying on a disease spectrum. Although a common (food induced) pathogenesis has yet to be confirmed, gastroenterologists and allergologists should be aware of these new phenomena in order to further characterize these patients. In the following review, we discuss the pathogenesis of EoE, particularly those mechanisms beyond eosinophilic infiltration of the esophageal mucosa, non-eosinophilic inflammatory cell populations, the new disease entity EoE-like disease, variant forms of EoE, and the recently coined term mast cell esophagitis
MiKO---Mikado Koncurrent Objects
The motivation for the Mikado migration model is to provide
programming constructs for controlling code mobility that are as
independent as possible from the particular programming language used
to program the code. The main idea is to regard a domain (or
site, or locality), where mobile code may enter or exit, as a
membrane enclosing running processes, and offering services
that have to be called for entering or exiting the domain.
MiKO---Mikado Koncurrent Objects is a particular instance of this
model, where the membrane is explicitly split in two parts: the
methods defining the interface, and a process part describing the data
for, and the behavior of, the interface.
The talk presents the syntax, operational semantics, and type system
of MiKO, together with an example. It concludes by briefly mentioning
the implementation of a language based on the calculus
ABSTRACT: The challenges and costs of activities in a global world have been increasing day by day, therefore, organizations are geared to the establishment of different trade relations to traditional forms based on the acquisition of goods and services in the market. This situation takes strength from the eighties, when the organizational environment became increasingly complex and uncertain. At that time the organizations were forced to obtain raw materials, skills, innovation, financing or market access through strategies that enable them to continue to grow, mainly based strategies in collaboration with other organizations. This situation requires organizations to share resources and activities to achieve their particular goals. There are several forms of organizational collaboration, among which may be mentioned strategic alliances, joint adventures, and organizational networks (networks). You are latter consist of agreements whereby two or more organizations seek to obtain results that individually could not achieve, relationship based on trust, communication and mutual commitment. In general, in this article the current importance of strategic direction as well as the need for organizations to collaborate to survive in a complex world, global and more demanding every day is analyzed.

El rol del control personal en la función paliativa de la justificación del sistema entre la población indígena y no indígena de estudiantes peruanos
Indexación: Scopus. In this article we propose a mediation model for the association between system justification and psychological well-being (i.e., the palliative function of ideology), based on system justification theory and compensatory control theory. Specifically, we argue that endorsing system-justifying beliefs leads to increased perceived personal control, which in turn predicts higher well-being. We used a convenience sample of students from two Peruvian universities. The results showed that system justification was related to general psychological well-being and personal control. In addition, indigenous students rated lower on system justification, general psychological well-being, self-esteem and personal control. Next, we found that the association between system justification and general psychological well-being was stronger among indigenous students, and this relationship was partially mediated by personal control. In addition, we showed that the mediation model is moderated by ethnicity, so that personal control is a mediator only among non-indigenous participants. We conclude that personal control is a mechanism involved in the palliative function of ideology among this group. Finally, we discuss possible explanations for the mechanisms involved in the palliative function of ideology among low-status individuals. © 2018, © 2018 Fundacion Infancia y Aprendizaje.
Functionality of low digestibility emulsions in cocoa creams : structural changes during in vitro digestion and sensory perception
The objective of this work was to evaluate the application of low digestibility oil/water emulsions as fat source in a cocoa cream. Emulsions were composed by water, sunflower oil and cellulose ethers or xanthan gum. Back extrusion assays were measured before and after in vitro digestion and free fatty acids release were measured to evaluate the fat digestibility. Finally consumer acceptability was carried out to determine the degree of liking of each system. The results revealed that all the emulsions confer a suitable consistency to the creams and the structure provided by the hydrocolloids was resistant to digestion, reducing the fat digestibility. However, after gastric digestion only cream with xanthan gum showed a significant increase in consistency what it could be related with an increase in satiety. Regarding the sensory characteristics, the cream elaborated with xanthan gum was rated close to the control cream that received the highest scores
