A critical review of all known literature reports of phoresy involving D. cyrneus is also presented. Two of these reports relate to the same observation and are the result of the systematic turmoil within the family Cerambycidae. Both species are treated as primeval forest relics and their isolated populations live in the scattered remains of the ancient forests that covered Europe in the past. We provide new information about the ecological relationships of D. cyrneus with saproxylic beetles, and discuss the ecological preferences of the two species and their role as indicators of the quality of the environment

Longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae) are phytophagous insects belonging to order Coleoptera. Representatives of this group of insects are present in almost all land ecosystems, where they feed on plant material. However, the vast majority of species is ecologically connected with trees and shrubs, and hence with forest ecosystems. Conservation and protection of the remains of valuable riparian forest habitats: Ficario-Ulmetum minoris and Salici-Populetum was the reason of establishing in the valley of the Odra river a series of Natura 2000 sites. Research on longhorn beetles were carried out systematically in the valley of the Odra river in years 2013-2016. Material was collected on six Natura 2000 sites: SAC Graniczny Meander Odry, SAC Las koło Tworkowa, SAC Łęg Zdzieszowicki, SAC Żywocickie Łęgi, forest areas in the Prędocin region (fragment of SPA Grądy Odrzańskie), and Las Odrzański (the southern fragment of SAC Grądy w Dolinie Odry). In total, 7302 imagines (5190 – field observations, 2112 – rearing), 256 pupae, 1668 larvae, and 690 feeding grounds were collected or observed. Altogether 92 species were identified, which comprises ca. 48% of all Cerambycidae species in Poland. During the research 2 species in Lower Silesia: Chlorophorus herbstii and Acanthocinus griseus, and 4 in Upper Silesia: Grammoptera ustulata, Anoplodera sexguttata, Pachytodes cerambyciformis, and Exocentrus adspersus were recorded for the first time. The collected material was analysed in term of frequency and abundance, trophic relations, and effectiveness of various method of Cerambycidae detection. Moreover, chorological, ecological, zoocenotic, and phenological analyses were conducted. Longhorn beetles communities of selected habitats and research areas were characterised, furthermore, based on presence of primeval forests relicts, rare, and stenotopic species, the valorisation of particular areas was made

The goal of the project Bazhum is to create a database of contents of Polish humanities journals. We plan to upload the list of contents from a wide spectrum of journals. We are currently researching the titles. In the field of our interest are all journals since the mid-19th century, they are being worked on from the first issue. It is already possible to do a basic search of the database by the names of authors and titles of articles. We are currently developing the search options to make it possible to do an advanced search by keywords, fragments of abstracts, Bolean operators etc. The project team has a modular structure: service, librarians and cataloguers. For many months we have been working with external institutions, like the libraries of Polish Academy of Science (PAN) and others. We receive a lot of positive feedback from the world of academia, regarding the usefulness of the database Bazhum. It starts even to be used by libraries in creating bibliographies of individual authors and in creating the indexes of contents for journals over a span of many years. We have developed a group of tools for editing and data collection. We have adopted the standards of bibliographic description in modern bibliographic databases. A collection of approx. 50.000 simplifed bibliographic records is accessible on the YADDA platform

Katalog Fauny Polski 23(10): 1–401). Podczas badań entomologicznych w Bieszczadach i Beskidzie Niskim stwierdzono kilka nowych stanowisk świetlikowatych"

New data on distribution, biology, and ecology of some little-known cerambycid species, collected in the western part of Tajikistan, are presented. Arhopalus rusticus (Linnaeus, 1758) is recorded in Tajikistan for the first time. New localities of species considered pests or invasive species such as Aeolesthes sarta (Solsky, 1871) and Xylotrechus stebbingi Gahan, 1906 are also given. The list of the taxa collected by the first author during many years of field research in Tajikistan as well as photographs of poorly known species from his collection, including some endemics, are additionally provided. Furthermore, high quality photographs of some extremely rare species that were collected during our expedition, i.e., Turkaromia gromenkoi Danilevsky, 2000 and Ropalopus nadari Pic, 1894, with images of their habitats or feeding grounds are also presented for the first time

Shot noise in magnetic double-barrier tunnel junctions

We calculate shot noise and the corresponding Fano factors in magnetic double-barrier tunnel junctions. Two situations are analyzed: (i) the central metallic layer is nonmagnetic while the external ones are ferromagnetic, and (ii) all of the metallic layers are ferromagnetic. In the latter case, the number of various magnetic configurations of the junctions is larger, which improves the functionality of such devices. The corresponding shot noise and Fano factor are shown to depend on the magnetic configuration of the junctions. The effect of spin relaxation in the central layer is also taken into account. The theoretical results are compared with experimental data on the shot noise in Fe/MgO/Fe/MgO/Fe structuresThis work is supported by the National Science Center in Poland as a research project in the years 2011–2014 and by the Polish National Center of Research and Development within the framework of the European project Era.Net.Rus “SpinBarrier” for the years 2012–2014.
