The status of Bogidiella Balearica Dancau, 1973, a stygobiont amphipod from Mallorca
It proves to be a good species, to be classified with the subgenus Bogidiella s. str., and it is well-distinguished from Bogidiella chappuisi Ruffo, 1952 (with which it was tentatively synonyrnized in the past), belonging to a different suhgenus, Medigidiella
A new hyporheic Bogidiella (Crustacea, Amphipoda) from Mallorca
[spa] Se describe un nuevo anfĂpodo hiporreico procedente de los aluviones de grava del Torrent de Pareis, en Mallorca, como Bogidiella (Bogidiella) torrenticola n. sp. Dicha especie estĂĄ estrechamente relacionada con la especie congenĂ©rica B. (B.) balearica, forma cavernĂcola de la misma isla.[eng] In gravel beds of an intermittent stream, Torrent de Pareis, in Mallorca, a new hyporheic amphipod was found, described as Bogidiella (Bogidiella) torrenticola n. sp. It is closely related to its congener from the same island, B. (B.) balearica, a cavernicolous species
Rhynchothorax mediterraneus, the First Record of Rhynchothoracidae (Pycnogonida) from Japan
Several specimens of a pycnogonid, Rhynchothorax mediterraneus Costa, 1861 were found in collections from Tanabe Bay. This is the first record of the family Rhynchothoracidae from Japanese waters and considerably extends the species' distribution
Instrumental Music Influences Recognition of Emotional Body Language
In everyday life, emotional events are perceived by multiple sensory systems. Research has shown that recognition of emotions in one modality is biased towards the emotion expressed in a simultaneously presented but task irrelevant modality. In the present study, we combine visual and auditory stimuli that convey similar affective meaning but have a low probability of co-occurrence in everyday life. Dynamic face-blurred whole body expressions of a person grasping an object while expressing happiness or sadness are presented in combination with fragments of happy or sad instrumental classical music. Participants were instructed to categorize the emotion expressed by the visual stimulus. The results show that recognition of body language is influenced by the auditory stimuli. These findings indicate that crossmodal influences as previously observed for audiovisual speech can also be obtained from the ignored auditory to the attended visual modality in audiovisual stimuli that consist of whole bodies and music
