Perceptions of Tenured Faculty Members About the Post-tenure Review Process in Tennessee Community Colleges
The purpose of this study is to determine if differences exist between tenured faculty members perceptions about what actually occurs during the post-tenure review process and what they believe should occur in the twelve community colleges in the Tennessee Board of Regents System. This study presents the status of higher education tenure from a historical and legal basis nationally and in Tennessee. The study also presents various models of faculty evaluation and post-tenure review practices in higher education nationwide, as well as in Tennessee. The data in this study are analyzed through descriptive statistics and presented the demographic data including campus location, age, years of teaching experience, ethnicity, highest degree obtained, faculty rank, and gender. Further demographic data analysis, ANOVA and t-tests, finds no significant differences among tenured faculty concerning the post-tenure review process. The review of literature and data presented in this study implies that post-tenure review is most accepted when administrators effectively communicate the purpose of post-tenure review, routinely provide an orientation to the process, generally familiarize themselves with the concerns and perceptions of those undergoing the post-tenure review, and clearly ensure that the concept of academic freedom is not undermined
Revised Orbit and Transit Exclusion for HD 114762b
Transiting planets around bright stars have allowed the detailed follow-up
and characterization of exoplanets, such as the study of exoplanetary
atmospheres. The Transit Ephemeris Refinement and Monitoring Survey (TERMS) is
refining the orbits of the known exoplanets to confirm or rule out both transit
signatures and the presence of additional companions. Here we present results
for the companion orbiting HD 114762 in an eccentric 84 day orbit. Radial
velocity analysis performed on 19 years of Lick Observatory data constrain the
uncertainty in the predicted time of mid-transit to ~5 hours, which is less
than the predicted one-half day transit duration. We find no evidence of
additional companions in this system. New photometric observations with one of
our Automated Photoelectric Telescopes (APTs) at Fairborn Observatory taken
during a revised transit time for companion b, along with 23 years of nightly
automated observations, allow us to rule out on-time central transits to a
limit of ~0.001 mag. Early or late central transits are ruled out to a limit of
~0.002 mag, and transits with half the duration of a central transit are ruled

The utilization of an infrared imaging system as a cooling slot blockage detector in the inspection of a transpiration cooled nozzle
A comprehensive examination of the 8 foot temperature tunnel's transpiration cooled nozzle was completed using an infrared imaging radiometer to locate regions of cooling flow irregularities caused by obstruction of three or more adjacent cooling slots. Restrictions in the cooling flow were found and cataloged. Blockages found were due primarily to the presence of residual phosphoric acid being discharged from some of the cooling slots. This acid was used during construction of the nozzle components and was to have been purged prior to its delivery to the NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC). In addition, a radial displacement of one selection of discs located in the spool piece was inspected and cataloged for future reference. There did not seem to be a serious restriction of flow in this defect, but evidence from the infrared images indicated reduced slot activity within the gouge. The radiometer survey uncovered regions where closer inspection is recommended but did not cover the entire surface area of the three nozzle subsections due to equipment limitations. The Economic Value of Irrigation in the Texas Panhandle
The Texas Panhandle relies largely on the Ogallala Aquifer for access to water for irrigated agricultural production. With current pumping rates and slow recharge rates, the aquifer will at some point in the future no longer be an economically viable source of water for agriculture. The objective of this study is to estimate the value of irrigated agriculture to the region. A hypothetical policy restriction is imposed which assumes a one hundred percent conversion to dryland agriculture. Refined Properties of the HD 130322 Planetary System
Exoplanetary systems closest to the Sun, with the brightest host stars,
provide the most favorable opportunities for characterization studies of the
host star and their planet(s). The Transit Ephemeris Refinement and Monitoring
Survey uses both new radial velocity measurements and photometry in order to
greatly improve planetary orbit uncertainties and the fundamental properties of
the star, in this case HD 130322. The only companion, HD 130322b, orbits in a
relatively circular orbit, e = 0.029 every ~10.7 days. Radial velocity
measurements from multiple sources, including 12 unpublished from the Keck I
telescope, over the course of ~14 years have reduced the uncertainty in the
transit midpoint to ~2 hours. The transit probability for the b-companion is
4.7%, where M_p sin i = 1.15 M_J and a = 0.0925 AU. In this paper, we compile
photometric data from the T11 0.8m Automated Photoelectric Telescope at
Fairborn Observatory taken over ~14 years, including the constrained transit
window, which results in a dispositive null result for both full transit
exclusion of HD 130322b to a depth of 0.017 mag and grazing transit exclusion
to a depth of ~0.001 mag. Our analysis of the starspot activity via the
photometric data reveals a highly accurate stellar rotation period: 26.53
+/-0.70 days. In addition, the brightness of the host with respect to the
comparison stars is anti-correlated with the Ca II H and K indices, typical for

Divergent drivers of leaf trait variation within species, among species, and among functional groups.
Understanding variation in leaf functional traits-including rates of photosynthesis and respiration and concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus-is a fundamental challenge in plant ecophysiology. When expressed per unit leaf area, these traits typically increase with leaf mass per area (LMA) within species but are roughly independent of LMA across the global flora. LMA is determined by mass components with different biological functions, including photosynthetic mass that largely determines metabolic rates and contains most nitrogen and phosphorus, and structural mass that affects toughness and leaf lifespan (LL). A possible explanation for the contrasting trait relationships is that most LMA variation within species is associated with variation in photosynthetic mass, whereas most LMA variation across the global flora is associated with variation in structural mass. This hypothesis leads to the predictions that (i) gas exchange rates and nutrient concentrations per unit leaf area should increase strongly with LMA across species assemblages with low LL variance but should increase weakly with LMA across species assemblages with high LL variance and that (ii) controlling for LL variation should increase the strength of the above LMA relationships. We present analyses of intra- and interspecific trait variation from three tropical forest sites and interspecific analyses within functional groups in a global dataset that are consistent with the above predictions. Our analysis suggests that the qualitatively different trait relationships exhibited by different leaf assemblages can be understood by considering the degree to which photosynthetic and structural mass components contribute to LMA variation in a given assemblage
A Resolved Ring of Debris Dust around the Solar Analog HD 107146
We present resolved images of the dust continuum emission from the debris disk around the young (80-200 Myr) solar-type star HD 107146 with CARMA at λ = 1.3 mm and the CSO at λ = 350 μ. Both images show that the dust emission extends over an approximately 10" diameter region. The high-resolution (3") CARMA image further reveals that the dust is distributed in a partial ring with significant decrease in a flux inward of 97 AU. Two prominent emission peaks appear within the ring separated by ~140° in the position angle. The morphology of the dust emission is suggestive of dust captured into a mean motion resonance, which would imply the presence of a planet at an orbital radius of ~45-75 AU
