The geological structure of Thriassion Plain is generally complex and has been affected at different times by many tectonic activities. The last ones are the neotectonic, which caused horsts and grabens structures. Geologic and tectonic structures have influenced the hydrogeological conditions and the groundwater flow. Hydraulic characteristics of Plio-Pleistocene deposits differ throughout their extent. In this study, pumping tests in Plio-Pleistocene deposits are represented and the hydraulic characteristics transmissivity T, storativity S and hydraulic conductivity K are assigned. Pumping tests, in 8 totally wells, were conducted in the dry period. Methods as Cooper-Jacob’s, Theis’s, Papadopoulos Cooper’s and Neuman’s and last the Recovery method, are used to assign the hydraulic characteristics. These tests highlighted the Recovery method as the most reliable. Transmissivity T: 18-279.1 m2/d, storativity S: 2.5*10-3 3*10-2and hydraulic conductivity K: 0.4-25.1 m/d. Specific capacity is also determined ranging between 16-360 m3/d/m. This study contributes, essentially, in the approach of hydrogeological conditions of Thriassion Plain

The Inter-relationship of Coaching Profiles and Levels of Mental Toughness: Preliminary Results of A Pilot Study.

Mental toughness (MT) is a personal, state-like capacity that facilitates the initiation and continuation of goal-directed activities in several domains, including sports. Sport coaches are key agents in positions of authority. Coaching philosophy has been identified as one of the key parts in the development of environments that promote MT. The Coach Orientation Questionnaire (COQ) groups coaches in six profiles (Traditional, Technological, Innovative, Collaborative, Communicator, and Confrontational) mostly based on their professional training, personality, and experience. Coaches’ levels of MT and coaching COQ profiles have not been investigated together. PURPOSE: To explore the relationship between the COQ coaching profiles with MT. METHODS: The study followed a cross-sectional design. Data from 37 male and eight female coaches (n = 45), with an age of 35.1 ± 11.7 years, were collected. The COQ and the Mental Toughness Index (MTI) were administered. MTI consists of eight items. Each item represents one MT key dimension (i.e., generalized self-efficacy, buoyancy, success mindset, optimistic style, context knowledge, emotion regulation, attention regulation, overcoming adversity). All analyses were conducted in SPSS. RESULTS: Based on the COQ scores, coaches fell into the following categories: Confrontational (19%), Traditional (19%), Communicator (18%), Innovative (17%), Technological (16%), and Collaborator (11%). The correlation analysis showed significant relationships between MT scores and the Technological (They like to use technology to study the sport. Assistants need to be competent to assist in that. Players must be predisposed to collaborate.) (r =.377; p = .011), Collaborator (They prefer delegation of tasks, while maintaining a climate of trust with players and the assistants) (r = .420; p = .005), and Confrontational (They criticize the training process, which creates a tense atmosphere) coach profiles (r =.474; p = .002). CONCLUSION: Our findings offer preliminary evidence for the relationship between coaches’ COQ profiles and levels of MT and support the continuation of data collection. Larger-scale studies should explore this relationship further (e.g., different settings). Future studies should also investigate the etiology behind those inter-relationships (e.g., COQ profiles with each MT key dimension score) and their effect on environment development. Limitations may include cross-sectional design and convenience sample

Effect of different scintillator choices on the x-ray imaging performance of CMOS sensors

The ability of wafer scale Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) imagers to integrate sensing with analogue to digital conversion at the pixel level has led to their widespread appeal in a variety of imaging applications. This has led to significant improvement in speed and reduction in read-out noise in these imagers when compared to charge-coupled devices (CCDs) and amorphous silicon/selenium based flat panel imagers (FPIs). This paper compares the performance characteristics of CMOS X-ray detectors in various configurations by varying certain parameters of a typical X-ray detector such as fibre optic face plate (FOP), scintillator substrate coating, sensor pixel pitch and scintillator thickness. The evaluations were carried out using RQA5 (70 kV) radiation beam quality aimed at general radiography applications. At comparable Air Kerma values, detectors with a fibre optic plate showed an overall better DQE performance at most spatial frequencies, starting slightly lower at low frequencies then overtaking the “no-FOP” case at mid and high frequencies. The analysis of detectors with different substrate coatings for the scintillators showed comparatively higher DQE for the white-coated aluminium substrate scintillator compared to the black-coated one. The DQE comparison of detectors with and pixel pitch resulted in a higher DQE for the pixel pitch one, with the caveat that the scintillator was thick enough as to render differences in pMTF negligible. Finally, the comparison of scintillators with varying thicknesses showed that the thickest scintillator yielded the highest DQE. These characterisation studies helped in understanding the suitability of these different configurations in various general radiography application scenarios and could be of help to prospective users to determine the overall configuration that best fits their specific imaging needs

Copyright CARNThe paper arises from the International Teacher Leadership project, a research and development project involving researchers and practitioners in 14 European countries. The paper provides a conceptual exploration of the idea of teacher leadership and its role in educational reform, central to which is the idea that teachers, regardless of their level of power and organisational position, can engage in the leadership of enquiry-based development activity aimed at influencing their colleagues and embedding improved practices in their schools. The paper provides an outline of the project’s methodology which builds on that used in the Carpe Vitam Leadership for Learning project (Frost, 2008a). It is a form of collaborative action research which is highly developmental and discursive. It seeks to identify principles, strategies and tools that can be applied in a range of cultural settings. The paper includes a thematic analysis of the cultural contexts and policy environments of the participating countries in order to identify the obstacles to teacher leadership and to inform the nature of the support strategies employed
