Astmaatikon kokemuksia potilasohjauksesta
Astma on yleisimpiä kansantautejamme. Lääkehoitoa vaativista pitkäaikaisista sairauksista se on kolmanneksi yleisin verenpainetaudin ja sepelvaltimotaudin jälkeen. Lasten pitkäaikaissairauksista astma on yleisin. Valtakunnallisessa astmaohjelmassa esitetyn arvion mukaan vaikea-asteista astmaa sairastaa kaikista potilaista 20 %, keski-vaikeaa 20 % ja lievää astmaa 60 %.
Opinnäytetyön nimi on astmaatikon kokemuksia potilasohjauksesta. Opinnäytetyömme toimeksiantaja on Kainuun maakunta-kuntayhtymän keuhkosairauksien poliklinikka.
Kyselyyn vastasi 13 vastaajaa (n = 13). Tuloksista kävi ilmi, että kyselyyn osallistuneet astmaatikot olivat pääosin tyytyväisiä saamansa potilasohjaukseen keuhkosairauksien poliklinikalla. Osalla vastaajista on astman hoito omasta jaksamisesta kiinni. Osa vastaajista tietää ja ymmärtää astman hoidon merkityksen terveydelle.
Opinnäytetyömme tuloksia voidaan hyödyntää keuhkosairauksien poliklinikalla hoitotyön käytäntöön. Opinnäytetyömme tulokset antavat tietoa miten astmaa sairastavan potilasohjausta ja sen sisältöä voidaan jatkossa kehittää. Tulokset antavat tietoa potilasohjauksen kehittämistarpeista. Jatkotutkimusaiheena olisi hyvä selvittää sairaanhoitajien kokemuksia astmaa sairastavan potilasohjauksesta keuhkosairauksien poliklinikalla.
Opinnäytetyö prosessin kautta olemme vahvistaneet sairaanhoitajan työssä tarvittavaa tiedollista ja taidollista ja asenteista osaamista jota voimme hyödyntää astmaa sairastavan kokonaishoitoon ja ohjaukseen. Prosessin kautta
olemme saaneet vahvistuksen sille, miten tärkeä on sairaanhoitajan asenne ja osaaminen potilasohjaukseen.Asthma is one of the most common national diseases. Amongst long term diseases requiring medical treatment it is the third most common after arterial hypertension and coronary artery diseases. Among Childhood long term diseases asthma is the most common. According to an estimate provided by a nationwide asthmas program 20 % of all asthma patients suffer from severe asthma, 20 % from mildly severe and 60 % suffer from slight asthma.
The name of this thesis is an Asthma Patient’s Experiences of Supervision. The commissioner of the thesis was the Joint Authority of the Kainuu Region and our working – life supervisor was the Pulmonary Diseases Outpatients’ Department. The purpose of this thesis was to clarify by survey how the asthma patients involved were committed to care for their asthma. The aim was to clarify whether patients had been provided with sufficient instruction and supervision and in what issues did they require further knowledge and instruction.
The investigational approach of this thesis was qualitative, using a survey to collect data. The survey con-sisted of open questions intending to clarify how asthma patients are committed to care for asthma and to establish the quality of patient instruction and how patients experienced instruction. The collected ma-terial was analyzed using qualitative contents analysis. The results were presented in super and sub categories in different themes related to the care of asthma.
13 respondents took part in the survey (n=13).The results indicated that patients were mainly satisfied with instruction received in the Pulmonary Diseases Outpatients’ Department. For some of the respondents, the care of their asthma depended on how they were coping generally. Others understood and were aware of the significance of caring for their asthma to their health. The results of the thesis provide information on how patient instruction and its contents can be developed in the future. In the future, it would be appropriate to research how nurses experience the instruction and supervision of asthma patients in the Pulmonary Diseases Outpatients’ Department.
The thesis process has strengthened the knowledge and skill-based competence as well as attitudes required in nursing, which we can use in the care and instruction of asthma patients. The process has confirmed how important attitude and competence is in patient instruction
Quantum affine Cartan matrices, Poincare series of binary polyhedral groups, and reflection representations
We first review some invariant theoretic results about the finite subgroups
of SU(2) in a quick algebraic way by using the McKay correspondence and quantum
affine Cartan matrices. By the way it turns out that some parameters
(a,b,h;p,q,r) that one usually associates with such a group and hence with a
simply-laced Coxeter-Dynkin diagram have a meaningful definition for the
non-simply-laced diagrams, too, and as a byproduct we extend Saito's formula
for the determinant of the Cartan matrix to all cases. Returning to invariant
theory we show that for each irreducible representation i of a binary
tetrahedral, octahedral, or icosahedral group one can find a homomorphism into
a finite complex reflection group whose defining reflection representation
restricts to i.Comment: 19 page
Generalized spacetimes defined by cubic forms and the minimal unitary realizations of their quasiconformal groups
We study the symmetries of generalized spacetimes and corresponding phase
spaces defined by Jordan algebras of degree three. The generic Jordan family of
formally real Jordan algebras of degree three describe extensions of the
Minkowskian spacetimes by an extra "dilatonic" coordinate, whose rotation,
Lorentz and conformal groups are SO(d-1), SO(d-1,1) XSO(1,1) and
SO(d,2)XSO(2,1), respectively. The generalized spacetimes described by simple
Jordan algebras of degree three correspond to extensions of Minkowskian
spacetimes in the critical dimensions (d=3,4,6,10) by a dilatonic and extra
(2,4,8,16) commuting spinorial coordinates, respectively. The Freudenthal
triple systems defined over these Jordan algebras describe conformally
covariant phase spaces. Following hep-th/0008063, we give a unified geometric
realization of the quasiconformal groups that act on their conformal phase
spaces extended by an extra "cocycle" coordinate. For the generic Jordan family
the quasiconformal groups are SO(d+2,4), whose minimal unitary realizations are
given. The minimal unitary representations of the quasiconformal groups F_4(4),
E_6(2), E_7(-5) and E_8(-24) of the simple Jordan family were given in our
earlier work hep-th/0409272.Comment: A typo in equation (37) corrected and missing titles of some

Black holes admitting a Freudenthal dual
The quantised charges x of four dimensional stringy black holes may be
assigned to elements of an integral Freudenthal triple system whose
automorphism group is the corresponding U-duality and whose U-invariant quartic
norm Delta(x) determines the lowest order entropy. Here we introduce a
Freudenthal duality x -> \tilde{x}, for which \tilde{\tilde{x}}=-x. Although
distinct from U-duality it nevertheless leaves Delta(x) invariant. However, the
requirement that \tilde{x} be integer restricts us to the subset of black holes
for which Delta(x) is necessarily a perfect square. The issue of higher-order
corrections remains open as some, but not all, of the discrete U-duality
invariants are Freudenthal invariant. Similarly, the quantised charges A of
five dimensional black holes and strings may be assigned to elements of an
integral Jordan algebra, whose cubic norm N(A) determines the lowest order
entropy. We introduce an analogous Jordan dual A*, with N(A) necessarily a
perfect cube, for which A**=A and which leaves N(A) invariant. The two
dualities are related by a 4D/5D lift.Comment: 32 pages revtex, 10 tables; minor corrections, references adde
Economic Potential of Substituting Legumes for Synthetic Nitrogen in Warm Season Perennial Grasses used for Stocker Cattle Grazing
Stocker cattle grazing warm season perennial grasses is an important economic activity in the southern Great Plains. Substantial increases in the price of nitrogen fertilizer is negatively affecting forage producers’ profitability. Two alternative nitrogen management systems that use annual and perennial legumes have been developed for bermudagrass pastures. The goal of the study is to determine if the legumes systems are more profitable than the conventional practice of applying synthetic sources of nitrogen. Results of the two-year grazing study show that the legume systems could not compete economically with the common practice.economics, grazing, legumes, bermudagrass, nitrogen fertilizer, stocker cattle, Crop Production/Industries, Farm Management, Production Economics,
Shear sum rules at finite chemical potential
We derive sum rules which constrain the spectral density corresponding to the
retarded propagator of the T_{xy} component of the stress tensor for three
gravitational duals. The shear sum rule is obtained for the gravitational dual
of the N=4 Yang-Mills, theory of the M2-branes and M5-branes all at finite
chemical potential. We show that at finite chemical potential there are
additional terms in the sum rule which involve the chemical potential. These
modifications are shown to be due to the presence of scalars in the operator
product expansion of the stress tensor which have non-trivial vacuum
expectation values at finite chemical potential.Comment: The proof for the absence of branch cuts is corrected. Results

The effective mass of two--dimensional 3He
We use structural information from diffusion Monte Carlo calculations for
two--dimensional 3He to calculate the effective mass. Static effective
interactions are constructed from the density-- and spin structure functions
using sumrules. We find that both spin-- and density-- fluctuations contribute
about equally to the effective mass. Our results show, in agreement with recent
experiments, a flattening of the single--particle self--energy with increasing
density, which eventually leads to a divergent effective mass.Comment: 4 pages, accepted in PR
Effective Lagrangians and Parity-Conserving Time-Reversal Violation at Low Energies
Using effective Lagrangians, we argue that any time-reversal-violating but
parity-conserving effects are too small to be observed in flavor-conserving
nuclear processes without dramatic improvement in experimental accuracy. In the
process we discuss other arguments that have appeared in the literature.Comment: Revised manuscript, 11 pages, RevTex, epsf.st
Nonrelativistic Chern-Simons Vortices on the Torus
A classification of all periodic self-dual static vortex solutions of the
Jackiw-Pi model is given. Physically acceptable solutions of the Liouville
equation are related to a class of functions which we term
Omega-quasi-elliptic. This class includes, in particular, the elliptic
functions and also contains a function previously investigated by Olesen. Some
examples of solutions are studied numerically and we point out a peculiar
phenomenon of lost vortex charge in the limit where the period lengths tend to
infinity, that is, in the planar limit.Comment: 25 pages, 2+3 figures; improved exposition, corrected typos, added
