Parametric regression models for recurrent events analysis based on Chen distribution

In this paper, two parametric regression models based on Chen dis tribution are proposed for situations where recurrent events have the same or dif ferent risks of occurrence. Inference is based on a maximum likelihood approach, which ensures consistent parameter estimators. However, since in recurrent event data there is within-subject correlation, the “one step” jackknife estimator is used. Num mar de sonhos e emoções, pensamentos e transformações…, eis que surge o presente relatório de estágio, desenvolvido no âmbito da unidade curricular de Prática de Ensino Supervisionada (PES), inserida no plano de estudos do Mestrado em Ensino do 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico e de Matemática e Ciências Naturais no 2º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. Este Relatório de Estágio (RE) reflete um percurso construído tendo por base uma metodologia com caraterísticas de investigação-ação, suportada por momentos de observação, cooperação, planificação, ação e reflexão em dois contextos distintos, o 1º CEB e o 2º CEB. Para tal, numa fase inicial, mobilizaram-se os pressupostos teóricos e legais referentes às dimensões académica e profissional dos docentes, reforçando-se aspetos científicos, pedagógicos, didáticos e humanos desta profissão. A caracterização de ambos os contextos educativos, surge, também nas linhas deste RE, enquanto parte fulcral do desenvolvimento da planificação e da ação em contexto educativo. Numa perspetiva reflexiva da experiência educativa, posteriormente, surge a pertinência de retratar as intervenções em contexto educativo, enquanto momentos que despoletaram pensamentos enriquecedores, recordações impulsionadoras do que ainda está por vir… Nesta fase, valorizou-se a reflexão-ação, visto se considerar ser promotora da melhoria da prática educativa. Para além disso, contempla uma componente investigativa, que baseada num constructo teórico fundamentado e nos resultados obtidos, permitiu retirar conclusões acerca da promoção do Pensamento Computacional e da Autorregulação das aprendizagens, em contextos de Resolução de Problemas reais relacionados com o ambiente sustentável. Todo o Relatório de Estágio reflete a procura de momentos inclusivos do desenvolvimento de aprendizagens essenciais, conducentes à própria construção do perfil de um aluno capaz de enfrentar os desafios do século XXI. Paralelamente, acredita-se que é retratado o desenvolvimento pessoal e profissional da mestranda, ocorrido ao longo deste período e acompanhado com a colaboração próxima de uma equipa multidisciplinar da PES deste mestrado. A ajuda e a cooperação foram fundamentais para uma constante partilha de conhecimentos e para a ampliação do horizonte que se pretende atingir através deste mar. VII Um mar onde todas e cada uma das crianças, de mão dada com a professora estagiária, percorreram as suas ondas, permitindo-lhes sonhar, rir e chorar, pensar e transformar. Mas, a transformação não fica por aqui, ainda há mais por descobrir, neste mar, onde há uma luz a brilhar.In a sea of dreams and emotions, thoughts and transformations..., here is the present internship report, developed under the curricular unit of Supervised Teaching Practice (PES), included in the study plan of the Master's Degree in Primary School Teaching and Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the 2nd Cycle of Basic Education. This Internship Report (ER) reflects a journey based on a methodology with characteristics of action research, supported by moments of observation, cooperation, planning, action and reflection in two different contexts, the 1st and 2nd cycles of basic education. To this end, in an initial phase, the theoretical and legal assumptions concerning the academic and professional dimensions of teachers were mobilized, reinforcing scientific, pedagogical, didactic, and human aspects of this profession. The characterization of both educational contexts, also appears in the lines of this ER, as a central part of the development of planning and action in the educational context. From a reflective perspective of the educational experience, later on, the relevance of portraying the interventions in the educational context arises, as moments that triggered enriching thoughts, memories that encourage what is yet to come... At this stage, reflection-action was valued, since it is considered to promote the improvement of educational practice. Furthermore, it includes an investigative component, which, based on a well-founded theoretical construct and on the results obtained, allowed us to draw conclusions about the promotion of Computational Thinking and Self-regulation of learning, in real problem solving contexts related to sustainable environment. The whole Internship Report reflects the search for inclusive moments of development of essential learning, leading to the construction of the profile of a student able to face the challenges of the 21st century. At the same time, it is believed that it portrays the personal and professional development of the master's student, which occurred throughout this period and was accompanied with the close collaboration of a multidisciplinary team of the master's PES. The help and cooperation were fundamental for a constant sharing of knowledge and for the broadening of the horizon that is intended to be reached through this sea. A sea where IX each and every one of the children, hand in hand with the trainee teacher, traveled its waves, allowing them to dream, laugh and cry, think and transform. Relatório de estágio de mestrado em Negócios InternacionaisEste trabalho incide sobre uma análise específica a uma empresa do setor Metalúrgico e Metalomecânico, a SAPMetal. Procurou-se através deste relatório verificar a sua estratégia de sustentabilidade em mercado internacional. Esta análise procurou enquadrar a empresa em termos de modo de atuação entre as demais empresas do setor, e respetivo comportamento estratégico face à literatura recente sobre integração vertical. Embora inconscientemente, a estratégia empresarial da SAPMetal poderá ser justificada através da Teoria das Redes, pois o aumento da sua competitividade baseia-se no desenvolvimento de contatos com os clientes. Para além da análise documental, o estudo comporta um conjunto de entrevistas a responsáveis de empresas do setor, e permitiu concluir que as estratégias adotadas na generalidade das empresas, apesar de serem o início de um processo de “internacionalização” precisam de à semelhança da SAPMetal investir mais na certificação da qualidade dos serviços prestados. Este estudo procura demonstrar as vantagens, fragilidades e desafios futuros que as PME portuguesas deste setor enfrentam.This work focuses on a specific analysis of a company’s metalworking sector, SAPMetal. We wished to verify the company’s sustainability strategy in the international market. This analysis attempted to set the context of this company in terms of mode of action among other companies in the industry, and its strategic behavior vis-à-vis recent literature on vertical integration. It concluded that, although unconsciously, the business strategy of SAPMetal may be justified through the Theory of Networks as the growth of its competitiveness is based on the development of customer contacts. In addition to the documentary analysis, the study includes a series of interviews with heads of companies in the sector, and concludes that the strategies adopted in most companies, even though these are the starting point of a process of “internationalization”, need, similarly to SAPMetal, to invest more in the certification of quality of its services. Fertility, full-time and part-time female employment in Europe

This paper aims to analyse the relation between women’s employment patterns, more specifically part-time employment, and fertility trends in European countries, using Eurostat data. It is argued that this approach sheds an innovative light on the debate. The issue of part-time employment is put into perspective in the context of family policies and gender relations. The fertility/employment relationship shows that the overall positive association between fertility and female employment is a consequence of the importance of part-time employment and is not related with full-time employment. Therefore, the change in sign of the fertility employment association after the 1980s could result from the increasing diversification of the labour market

Alianzas trisectoriales en el emprendedurismo social: discurso y práctica de los actores a partir de círculos de acción y reflexión

No artigo, discute-se a construção das chamadas Parcerias Tri-Setoriais em três projetos, desenvolvidos no Brasil, de diferentes áreas temáticas de intervenção em políticas públicas (acesso a água, educação básica e atuação de conselhos de direitos da criança e do adolescente). Articulações colaborativas envolvendo simultaneamente atores dos chamados três setores (Estado, sociedade civil e mercado) são práticas pouco estudadas no contexto brasileiro e mesmo internacional, visto que parcerias de caráter tri-setorial são pouco frequentes, apesar da proliferação de discursos de apoio às alianças entre governos e sociedade civil ou entre Organizações Não Governamentais (ONGs) e empresas na gestão de políticas públicas. Como estratégia de investigação, recorreu-se na pesquisa ao Cooperative Inquiry, método que pressupõe a ruptura de fronteiras entre sujeitos e objetos de análise, frequentemente constituídos por outros sujeitos vinculados à ação. Além do avanço na compreensão dos desafios da construção de parcerias tri-setoriais na realidade brasileira, busca-se também demonstrar a relevância para os estudos em gestão social de métodos investigativos assentados no protagonismo dos sujeitos pesquisados, como forma de se caminhar na compreensão de práticas, discursos e dilemas vinculados à ação social em programas sociais.This article discusses the construction of tri-sector partnerships in three projects conducted in Brazil in different fields of intervention of public policy (access to water, basic education and performance of boards of rights of children and adolescents). Collaborative articulations involving the players from three sectors (the State, civil society and the market) are practices that are little studied in the Brazilian and even in the international context, as tri-sector partnerships are rare, despite the proliferation of lines of discourse in support of alliances between governments and civil society or between companies and NGOs in the management of public policy. As a research strategy, this study resorted to cooperative inquiry, a method that involves breaking down the boundaries between the subjects and the objects of the analysis. Besides working toward a better understanding of the challenges of building tri-sector partnerships in the Brazilian context, the article also tries to show the relevance to public policy studies of investigative methods based on the subjects studied, as a means of developing an understanding of the practices, lines of discourse and dilemmas linked to social action in social programs.En este artículo se discute la construcción de las llamadas Alianzas Trisectoriales, en tres proyectos desarrollados en Brasil, de diferentes áreas temáticas de intervención en políticas públicas (acceso al agua, educación básica y actuación de consejos de derechos del niño y del adolescente). Las articulaciones de colaboración que incluyen simultáneamente actores de los llamados tres sectores (Estado, sociedad civil y mercado) son prácticas poco estudiadas en el contexto brasileño y también en el internacional, dado que alianzas de carácter trisectorial son poco frecuentes, a pesar de la proliferación de discursos de apoyo a las alianzas entre gobiernos y sociedad civil o entre organizaciones no gubernamentales y empresas en la gestión de políticas públicas. Modelos paramétricos flexíveis para acontecimentos recorrentes

Neste trabalho, s˜ao propostas duas classes de modelos pa ram´etricos para analisar o tempo entre acontecimentos recorrentes, utilizando splines c´ubicos restritos. As classes de modelos diferem no modo como se lida com a dependˆencia entre acontecimentos. Al´em disso, ambas as classes s˜ao caracterizadas por uma transforma¸c˜ao da fun¸c˜ao de sobrevivˆencia, atrav´es da fun¸c˜ao de liga¸c˜ao log-log ou −logit. De forma a ilustrar a metodologia proposta, efetua-se uma aplica¸c˜ao a um conjunto de dados reais sobre a recorrˆencia de cancro da bexiga. The Extended Chen-Poisson Lifetime Distribution

A three-parameter lifetime distribution is proposed, named extended Chen-Poisson distribution, by compounding the Chen and zero-truncated Poisson distributions. The new distribution belongs to the unified Poisson family, where both distributions of the minimum and maximum are merged into one. Several properties of the distribution are studied. The proposed distribution is quite flexible since it accommodates different complex hazard shapes. Inference is based on the maximum likelihood method in the presence of a right-censoring mechanism. A simulation study is performed to evaluate the properties of the parameters estimators. Two real lifetime data sets are analysed for purposes of comparison with other generalizations of the Chen distribution, as well as with other members of the unified Poisson family. The obtained results allow to highlight the potential of the new distribution

Reeducação alimentar, exercícios resistidos e variáveis morfológicas na senescência.

Orientação: Fernando Policarpo Barbosa; co-orientação: Leonardo RochaO objetivo do estudo foi analisar o processo de reeducação alimentar e exercícios resistidos sobre as variáveis morfológicas no processo de envelhecimento dos indivíduos do Projeto Vida Ativa das Faculdades Integradas de Patos, Paraíba, Brasil. O método utilizado foi quase experimental, longitudinal, a amostra (demanda espontânea) contou com 60 voluntários divididos em dois grupos, finalizando 17 sujeitos focais. A investigação teve 4 etapas: A primeira foi composta por entrevista e avaliação física. Segunda etapa ocorreu atividades educativas sobre alimentação e saúde. Terceira foi o programa de exercícios resistidos, e a quarta, a reavaliação. Para a análise dos dados utilizou-se estatística inferencial, para determinar a curva de normalidade dos dados, aplicou-se o teste Shapiro-Wilk, para a comparação intra-grupo e entre-grupos o teste t para amostras independentes, nos casos das variáveis ordinais e dicotômicas, aplicou-se tratamentos Wilcoxon e qui-quadrado para um nível de significância de p<0,05. A curva de distribuição dos dados apresentou padrões de normalidades para as variáveis antropométricas entre os grupos (GHI) e (GHIM), comportamento similar foi obtido para as demais variáveis antropométricas. Após intervenção observa-se que houve aquisição de conhecimentos com mudança comportamental. No entanto, as alterações pertinentes às questões alimentares e práticas de exercícios físicos entre os grupos, não foram suficientes para a incorporação de hábitos alimentares saudáveis que propiciassem modificações morfológicas efetivas.The aim of the study was to analyze the process of nutritional education and resistive exercise on morphological variables in individuals in senescênca Project of Integrated Active Living Patos, Paraíba, Brasil Colleges. The method used was quasi-experimental, longitudinal sample (spontaneous demand) had 60 volunteers divided into two groups, ending 17 focal subjects. The investigation had four stages: The first consisted of interview and physical assessment. Second stage occurred educational activities on nutrition and health. Third was the program of resistance exercises, and the fourth, the revaluation. For data analysis we used inferential statistics to determine the curve of normality of the data, we applied the Shapiro- Wilk test, to compare intra-group and between-groups t test for independent samples, where the variables ordinal and dichotomous, we applied Wilcoxon and chi-square treatments for a significance level of p <0.05. The distribution curve of the data showed patterns of normality for anthropometric variables between groups (GHI) and (Ghim), similar behavior was obtained for the other anthropometric variables. After intervention was observed that there was knowledge acquisition with behavioral change. However, the changes relevant food issues and practices of physical exercise between the groups were not sufficient to incorporate healthy eating habits that could provide effective morphological changes
