Su alcune piante nuove delle Isole Pelagie
On some new plants to Pelagic islands (Straits of Sicily) \u2013 Fifteen vascular plants belonging to the families Aizoaceae, Amaryllidaceae, Asteraceae, Brassicaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Myoporaceae, Orobanchaceae, Oxalidaceae, Portulacaceae and Solanaceae are reported as new to one or both the major Pelagic islands. With the exception of Narcissus serotinus and Orobanche minor, they are non-native plants, probably of recent human introduction, mostly in areas heavily modified by man. Myoporum insulare, widely used for reforestation and for ornament, occurs also in sub and semi-natural environments
Dynamical evolution of the Schottky barrier as a determinant contribution to electron–hole pair stabilization and photocatalysis of plasmon-induced hot carriers
The harnessing of plasmon-induced hot carriers promises to open new avenues for the development of clean energies and chemical catalysis. The extraction of carriers before thermalization and recombination is of fundamental importance to obtain appealing conversion yields. Here, hot carrier injection in the paradigmatic Au-TiO2 system is studied by means of electronic and electron-ion dynamics. Our results show that pure electronic features (without considering many-body interactions or dissipation to the environment) contribute to the electron–hole separation stability. These results reveal the existence of a dynamic contribution to the interfacial potential barrier (Schottky barrier) that arises at the charge injection pace, impeding electronic back transfer. Furthermore, we show that this charge separation stabilization provides the time needed for the charge to leak to capping molecules placed over the TiO2 surface triggering a coherent bond oscillation that will lead to a photocatalytic dissociation. We expect that our results will add new perspectives to the interpretation of the already detected long-lived hot carrier lifetimes and their catalytical effect, and concomitantly to their technological applications
Quantum properties of the codirectional three-mode Kerr nonlinear coupler
We investigate the quantum properties for the codirectional three-mode Kerr
nonlinear coupler. We investigate single-, two- and three-mode quadrature
squeezing, Wigner function and purity. We prove that this device can provide
richer nonclassical effects than those produced by the conventional coupler,
i.e. the two-mode Kerr coupler. We show that it can provide squeezing and the
quadrature squeezing exhibiting leaf-revival-collapse phenomenon in dependence
on the values of the interaction parameters. In contrast to the conventional
Kerr coupler two different forms of cat states can be simultaneously generated
in the waveguides. We deduce conditions required for the complete

Contribution to the floristic knowledge of the Maddalena Mountains (Basilicata and Campania, southern Italy)
The inventory of the taxa collected during the annual field trip of the working group for Floristics, Systematics
and Evolution of the Italian Botanical Society is reported. It was held in 2013 along the Maddalena
Mountains, a mountain ridge of the southern Apennines located between the Basilicata and Campania
administrative regions (southern Italy), considered as being poorly characterized in terms of vascular flora.
A total of 701 units belonging to 74 plant families were recorded including two varieties and four hybrids.Thirty-five taxa resulted endemic to Italy and only 11 alien species were detected, while 36 taxa are new
or confirmed for the regional floras of Basilicata and/or Campania. In particular, 12 taxa are new for
Basilicata, while four are confirmed. Regarding Campania, 14 taxa resulted new for the regional flora and
five were confirmed

In this contribution, new data concerning the Italian distribution of alien vascular flora are presented. It includes new records and exclusions for Italy or for Italian administrative regions of taxa in the genera Cedrus, Cenchrus, Citrus, Cyrtomium, Diospyros, Elaeagnus, Erigeron, Iris, Oenothera, Pavonia, Phytolacca, Styphnolobium, and Verbena. Furthermore, a new combination in the genus Amaranthus is proposed
Contribution to the floristic knowledge of the head of the Po Valley (Piedmont, north Italy)
In 2014, the annual field trip of the working group for Floristics, Systematics, and Evolution of the Italian
Botanical Society was held in Piemonte (northern Italy), at the head of the Po Valley. This valley, at whose
extremity is located the Monviso (3,841 m a.s.l.), belongs to the Cottian Alps about which very little is
known from a floristic point of view. An inventory of the taxa of vascular plants collected during the field
trip is reported here. The research led to the identification of 3,546 exsiccata, kept in nine public and nine
private collections. A total of 669 taxa belonging to 79 plant families were recorded. Six taxa resulted
endemic to Italy and three exclusive to Piemonte, while only nine alien species were detected; six taxa are
new and five confirmed for the regional flora

A nomen novum, Stachys talbotii, is proposed as a replacement name for Sideritis purpurea
