muy positivamente por los profesores.SUMMARY -- The evaluation of teaching has different objectives.
In some cases, the underlying objective is to obtain an
analysis of how effectively the teaching units, such as
subjects, departments or even entire universities,
work. In other cases the goal is to obtain information
on the teaching capacity of a professor in a determined
period of time or on a specific subject. Surveys,
completed by students, continue to be the most
commonly-used evaluation method for teaching.
Apart from weak points found in these surveys, we
should be aware of the fact that they only give quantitative
results which do not enable us to extract specific
information that could provide a more teachingfocused
evaluation. Such information could be used
to help teachers improve the quality of their teaching.
This article presents a proposal to evaluate the teaching
of a subject by providing qualitative information
which enables teachers to see both their weak and
strong points in order to plan improvements for future
courses.
This technique, which was initially applied in the
Master in Teacher Training, has since been successfully
tested on different courses in the Computer
Engineering Degree and the results, which will clearly
foment the process of continuous improvement,
have been well received by the teaching staff
de todo el plan de estudios.SUMMARY -- In the recent years, several strategies have been proposed
to boost the students learning effectiveness; from
the already established Project Based Learning, including
its variant Scenario Centered Curriculum, to innovative
educational approaches based in appealing concepts
such as gamification. Besides improving the teaching
quality, all these proposals are actually committed
to pursue another important goal: stimulate motivation
towards learning. According to the latest contributions,
such appealing proposals have considerably
contributed to enhance the specific academic results
of those subjects in which they have been applied.
However, as students capabilities and availability are
not unlimited, making a subject more appealing could
drive them to reduce their involvement in other subjects
of the same course. In fact, no broader analyses
are often conducted to measure the consequences of
(over)stimulating students on a specific subject. Therefore,
the purpose of this paper is to discuss the side
effects from overstimulating students on a given scenario
through new teaching methodologies. More specifically,
such discussion is based on analysis conducted
over three subjects of the Computing Engineering degree
in which these new teaching methodologies are
being applied. Presented results encourage practitioners
to apply these new teaching techniques horizontally
to all subjects in the same course—rather than focusing
on a specific one—and, thus, drive students to
reach an uniform motivation degree over all subjects to
gain the same amount of knowledge from every matter.Peer Reviewe
Efficacy of CDK4/6 inhibitors in preclinical models of malignant pleural mesothelioma
Background There is no effective therapy for patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) who progressed to platinum-based chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Methods We aimed to investigate the antitumor activity of CDK4/6 inhibitors using in vitro and in vivo preclinical models of MPM. Results Based on publicly available transcriptomic data of MPM, patients with CDK4 or CDK6 overexpression had shorter overall survival. Treatment with abemaciclib or palbociclib at 100 nM significantly decreased cell proliferation in all cell models evaluated. Both CDK4/6 inhibitors significantly induced G1 cell cycle arrest, thereby increasing cell senescence and increased the expression of interferon signalling pathway and tumour antigen presentation process in culture models of MPM. In vivo preclinical studies showed that palbociclib significantly reduced tumour growth and prolonged overall survival using distinct xenograft models of MPM implanted in athymic mice. Conclusions Treatment of MPM with CDK4/6 inhibitors decreased cell proliferation, mainly by promoting cell cycle arrest at G1 and by induction of cell senescence. Our preclinical studies provide evidence for evaluating CDK4/6 inhibitors in the clinic for the treatment of MPM
Fabrication, characterization, and surface modification by photografting of electrospun polycaprolactone nanofibers
During the past decades, synthetic polymers have been increasingly used in the fabrication of
medical devices that make direct contact with human blood [1]. When blood is exposed to
artificial surfaces, several defense systems in organism such as coagulation occur, led by
activation and adhesion of the platelets on this artificial material [1,5,26]. To avoid the
activation of the defense systems by the exposure of blood to foreign materials, many
attempts to modify their surfaces have been made [1,2].
The main focus of this work is to modify the surface of electrospun polycaprolactone (PCL)
nanofibers in order to create a blood compatible nanofiber mat. So as to create such material,
poly (2-methoxyethyl acrylate) (PMEA) is grafted by photograftig on the surface of the
nanofibers. PMEA has been reported [26, 29-31, 33] as an excellent blood-compatibility
polymer. To prove that the PMEA has been effectively photografted on the surface of the
created nanofiber, XPS and FT-IR were conducted. Moreover, SEM was used to demonstrate
a variation of the fiber diameter after the photografting.
A platelet adhesion test was performed on this novel material, concluding that the PMEA
grafted on the surface of the PCL nanofiber decreases the appearance of adhered platelets
on the surface of the nanofiber mat

This article sets out to analyse the Valley of the Fallen through consideration of the different monumentalizing strategies employed to ensure its continued effectiveness as a symbol of Francoism, and to highlight the regime?s influence by placing it at the same level as the many references to the Spanish monarchy present in the Sierra de Guadarrama. Apart from its physical dimensions, attention will be drawn to the importance of its spatial and geographical location, as well as the significance and consequences of the burial there not only of the dictator but also of tens of thousands of Civil War dead and the impact this has had on subsequent attempts to deal with this monumental legacy. The article ends by discussing the most recent actions taken to try to achieve the exhumation of Franco, reflecting on the range of responses and their significance in the present
