    Near threshold kaon-kaon interaction in the reactions e+ e- --> K+ K- gamma and e+ e- --> K0 K0bar gamma

    Full text link
    Strong interactions between pairs of the K+ K- and K0 K0bar mesons can be studied in radiative decays of phi(1020) mesons. We present a theoretical model of the reactions e+ e- --> phi --> K+ K- gamma and e+ e- --> phi --> K0 K0bar gamma. The K+ K- and K0 K0bar effective mass dependence of the differential cross sections is derived. The total cross sections and the branching fractions for the two radiative phi decays are calculated.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, contribution to 15th International Workshop on Meson Physics, Cracow, Poland, 7th - 12th June 201

    Integral Ecological Education – a Model Proposition

    Get PDF
    The author puts forward a proposition of the conceptual ecological education in a personalistic approach. The presented model is only a certain variation of the already applied educational practices, which stem from the need for global actions aimed at improving the present ecological situation of the world. The achievement of the latter is conditioned by a change of attitudes towards the natural environment, which in turn is possible with the introduction of a system of suitable and well!linked educational endeavors.3943346124Studia Edukacyjn

    The aim of the article was the analysis of the problem of speech development in care and educational institutions and family-run children’s houses. Speech plays an important role in our life. The ability of speaking properly enables people to form interpersonal communication. Due to our speech, we can express our thoughts, feelings and experience. Thus, it is crucial to stimulate a child’s verbal communication from the earliest years. Speech development, which has a genetical basis and depends on innate attributes, is possible only in the context of the social environment. The aim of the study was the analysis of the problem of verbal communication in care and educational institutions and family-run children’s houses in the Lublin province.The material for the article was created as part of the project "Education, levelling developmental and educational deficiencies of children under the care of family-run children’s houses as well as the educational care centre". The project was implemented by the Department of Pedagogy of Higher State School in Biała Podlaska. There were used two methods in the research: diagnostic survey and study of individual cases. The following questionnaires were used: proprietary questionnaires for charges, interview questionnaires with educators of educational care centres and family houses, an observation sheet and interviews with coordinators and directors of the examined institutions.The occurrence of numerous problems refer to the development of verbal communication both in care and educational centers and family-run children’s houses. This function is performed more advantageous in a family home.

    Strong interaction between kaons in the reactions e+ e- --> K+ K- gamma and e+ e- --> K0 K0bar gamma

    Full text link
    A theoretical model of the reactions e+ e- --> K+ K- gamma and e+ e- --> K0 K0bar gamma has been derived. The strong interaction between kaons is taken into account using a general form of the K Kbar scattering amplitude. It is shown that some models formulated in the past are particular cases of the present approach. The formulae for the K Kbar effective mass dependence of the differential cross section as well as for the angular kaon and photon distributions and for the branching fractions of the phi(1020)--> K+ K- gamma and phi(1020)--> K0 K0bar gamma decays have been obtained. We present numerical results for the functions entering into transition amplitudes, K Kbar effective mass distributions, total cross sections, and branching fractions. Finally, the model is generalized to treat other reactions with two pseudoscalar mesons accompanying a photon in the final state.Comment: 17 pages, 7 figure

    The material for the article was created as part of the project "Education, levelling developmental and educational deficits of charges of family-run children’s houses and care and educational institutions (based on the example of Biała Podlaska poviat)" implemented by the Department of Pedagogy of Higher State School in Biała Podlaska. Two methods: diagnostic survey and study of individual cases were used in the research, using proprietary questionnaires for charges, interview questionnaires with educators of care and educational centres and family facilities, an observation sheet and talks with coordinators and directors of the examined institutions. The research was carried out in Biała Podlaska poviat in three care and educational centres and three family-run children's homes. The subject of the article was to implement the educational needs of foster care children, including the issue of levelling educational gaps. The aim of the study was to determine whether educational deficiencies are noticeable there, what is the compensation of these deficiencies in family and institutional settings, if any of these forms is more favourable, what factors affect the proper satisfaction of educational needs? The analysis of the results made it possible to conclude that educational needs are realized in both care and educational centres and in family-run children’s homes, the beneficiaries of both forms exhibit numerous educational deficiencies conditioned by previous educational negligence. Compensation of educational deficiencies is more beneficial in family care. The basic forms of compensating for gaps include: tutoring, compensatory classes, individual caregiver work with a child, colleague self-help, voluntary activities

    Renin angiotensin system deregulation as renal cancer risk factor (Review)

    Get PDF
    For numerous years, the non-cardiovascular role of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) was underestimated, but recent studies have advanced the understanding of its function in various processes, including carcinogenesis. Numerous evidence comes from preclinical and clinical studies on the use of antihypertensive agents targeting the RAS, including angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) and angiotensin receptor blockers. It has been demonstrated that the use of ACEIs can alter the incidence of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and may have a positive effect by prolonging patient survival. It has an effect on the complex action of ACEI, resulting in decreased angiotensin II (Ang-II) production and altered levels of bradykinin or Ang 1-7. The present review discusses the existing knowledge on the effects of ACE and its inhibitors on RCC cell lines, xenograft models, and patient survival in clinical studies. A brief introduction to molecular pathways aids in understanding the non-cardiovascular effects of RAS inhibitors and enables the conduction of studies on combined cancer treatment with the application of ACEIs. Recent evidence regarding the treatment of hypertension associated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors, one of the most pronounced and common side effects in modern RCC treatment, are also outlined. Captopril, an ACEI, may be used to lower blood pressure in patients, particularly due to its additional renoprotective actions

    Two-color laser scattering for diagnostics of hydrogen plasma

    Get PDF
    A two-color laser scattering (2CLS) method is proposed to measure electron and neutral densities, as well as electron and ion temperatures in hydrogen plasma. 2CLS uses two probe wavelengths to identify the Rayleigh scattering and Thomson scattering contributions coming from neutrals and electrons, respectively. Laser scattering signals were simulated for various conditions of a hydrogen plasma at thermodynamic equilibrium applying the available and calculated cross-sections for Rayleigh scattering by ground-sate and excited hydrogen atoms at probe wavelengths of 355 nm and 532 nm. The developed 2CLS method was eventually applied to study the laser-induced plasma in hydrogen at near atmospheric pressure. Temporally and spatially resolved electron and ion temperatures and densities of electrons and hydrogen atoms (ground-state and excited) were determined
