Pour parvenir a cette fin, j'ai donc choisi d'examiner deux Ă©lĂ©ments de l'approche cognitive et dĂ©veloppementale Ă  la moralitĂ© et l'Ă©ducation de Lawrence Kohlberg: 1) l'idĂ©e que la justice est la vertu suprĂȘme et qu'elle rĂ©side au sommet de la hiĂ©rarchie des vertus, et 2) l'idĂ©e que la moralitĂ© est indĂ©pendante de la religion. Je remets en question l'idĂ©e que la justice ne soit directement reliĂ©e qu'a notre facultĂ© de raisonnement, ainsi que l'affirme Kohlberg, et je soutiens pour ma part que la facultĂ© de raisonnement, dĂ©pourvue d'influence spirituelle, n'est qu'insuffisante Ă  l'Ă©rection d'un systĂšme crĂ©dible de moralitĂ©, comme d'une thĂ©orie de l'Ă©ducation

    Drive Leg and Stride Leg Ground Reaction Forces Relationship to Medial Elbow Stress and Velocity in Collegiate Baseball Pitchers

    This study examines several different kinetic variables in relation to pitch velocity and elbow varus torque in collegiate baseball pitchers using force plates, an inertial measurement unit, and a radar unit. The purpose of this study is to investigate the kinetic variables being measured and their relationship to pitch velocity and loads being placed on the medial elbow. Twelve collegiate baseball pitchers participated in this study, which was approved by the IRB. Impulse of the drive leg in the anterior-posterior direction, stride leg peak force in the anterior-posterior (AP) direction, elbow varus torque, and pitch velocity were all measured. Two video cameras were used to record the pitching mechanics of each participant with their consent. Two force plates (2000Hz, Bertec FP-4060, Bertec Inc., OH, USA) were used to measure drive leg and stride leg ground reaction forces. An inertial measurement unit (motusBASEBALL Complete Package, Motus Global Inc., Massapequa, NY) was used to measure elbow torque. A radar unit (Rapsodo Pitching 2.0, Rapsodo Pte Ltd., Brentwood, MO) was used to measure pitch velocity. Pearson product-moment correlations were performed for each research question; the correlation coefficient (r) and p-values were reported for each. The strength of association was considered small for values of the correlation coefficient between 0.1 to 0.3, medium for values between 0.3 to 0.5, and large for values between 0.5 to 1.0. The a priori alpha level was set to 0.05. Impulse of the drive leg in the AP direction was significantly related to increased pitch velocity with an association of medium strength (p-value \u3c 0.001, r =0.366) and inversely related to elbow varus torque with a small association of strength (p-value=0.001, r = 0.299). Stride leg peak force in the AP direction was significantly related to increased pitch velocity (p-value=0.013, r = 0.222). Increasing the impulse on the drive leg in the AP direction may lead to greater pitch velocity and a decrease in elbow varus torque. Additionally, increasing stride leg peak ground reaction forces in the AP direction may lead to greater pitch velocity

    MSc in Marketing and ConsumptionThis paper elucidates the relationship between demystification and enchantment in craftwork. Compared to mystification, demystification has received little attention in marketing research to understand how brands can foster transparency in a way that captivates and enchants consumers. Through a netnographic analysis of music production live streams by the British electronic artist Disclosure, this study reveals that demystification paradoxically restores consumer enchantment, defying the disenchanting trajectories of rationalization by ascribing new symbolic meaning to consumption and reconnecting the idealized image of the craft “artisan” and “artist”. The findings highlight five techniques demystified in the live streams: replicating, structuring, simplifying, dedicating, and subverting. These techniques are situated within craftwork, enchantment, and marketing literature to provide theoretical and branding insights. The research suggests that enchantment is not hindered by withholding expertise for the sake of intrigue, but rather is enhanced by fostering transparency to (re-)enchant consumption and strengthen brand meaning

    Factors Influencing College Selection by NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Players

    National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III basketball, coaches are often faced with the challenge of stretching resources to successfully recruit players who will represent the institution without the benefit of athletic scholarships. Having a better grasp of the factors that influence the college selection of NCAA Division III players might assist these coaches in more efficiently maximizing their resources. The purposes of this study were to (a) examine specific factors which influence why DIII basketball players made their choice to attend a particular school, (b) determine if there were differences based upon the type of school attended, and (c) examine whether there were categorical factors that differed on the basis of a players recruitment, year in school, race/ethnicity, playing status, or financial aid status.   Using the revised Influential Factors Survey for Student Athletes (IFSSA-R; Pauline, 2010), 503 DIII men’s basketball players were surveyed. Participant responses indicated that ‘career opportunities’ was the most vital item affecting college selection. With regard to the five categorical factors (academic, athletic, coaching staff, financial aid, and social atmosphere) academic factors were also found to be important.   Analyses revealed significant (p < .05) differences as determined by type of school for the athletic, academic, and financial aid subscales.  Results of the study will provide useful information for DIII men’s basketball coaches and college administrators throughout various points in the recruiting and college selection process.  Keywords: coaching, recruiting, basketball, NCAA Division III, college selectio

    Filter Airflow prediction model development

    The implementation of air filters on commercial swine farms has effectively reduced the frequency of airborne disease transmission. However, efficiently managing filter lifespan remains a challenge and an unknown operational cost for filtered swine facilities. Individual filter testing protocols are time consuming and expensive for producers. The objective of this study was to develop a predictive model for estimating airflow for an individual filter in situ by comparing multiple machine learning models to eliminate the need for manual, individual filter testing for filter resistance. The data set was generated from a custom Air Filter Environmental Testing Chamber that mimics on farm operational conditions with a low static pressure drop per filter and ground level installation. Model parameters were developed from a six-month long data set. The models were developed when the chamber was running with a new set of pre-filters and a set of five-month old v-bank filters. The developed models include a single input linear regression, multiple linear regression, and random forest models. A single input linear regression was not an effective method for predicting the chamber airflow, R2=0.08. The multiple linear regression moderately explained the variation in the data, R2=0.77. The random forest models performed the best for predicting the test chamber airflow with both models featuring R2= 0.98. The results and models from this study will be used to determine the feasibility of an on-farm application
