Automating property-based testing of evolving web services
Web services are the most widely used service technology that drives the Service-Oriented Computing~(SOC) paradigm. As a result, effective testing of web services is getting increasingly important. In this paper, we present a framework and toolset for testing web services and for evolving test code in sync with the evolution of web services. Our approach to testing web services is based on the Erlang programming language and QuviQ QuickCheck, a property-based testing tool written in Erlang, and our support for test code evolution is added to Wrangler, the Erlang refactoring tool.
The key components of our system include the automatic generation of initial test code, the inference of web service interface changes between versions, the provision of a number of domain specific refactorings and the automatic generation of refactoring scripts for evolving the test code. Our framework provides users with a powerful and expressive web service testing framework, while minimising users' effort in creating, maintaining and evolving the test model. The framework presented in this paper can be used by both web service providers and consumers, and can be used to test web services written in whatever language; the approach advocated here could also be adopted in other property-based testing frameworks and refactoring tools

GREAT/SOFIA atmospheric calibration
The GREAT observations need frequency-selective calibration across the
passband for the residual atmospheric opacity at flight altitude. At these
altitudes the atmospheric opacity has both narrow and broad spectral features.
To determine the atmospheric transmission at high spectral resolution, GREAT
compares the observed atmospheric emission with atmospheric model predictions,
and therefore depends on the validity of the atmospheric models. We discusse
the problems identified in this comparison with respect to the observed data
and the models, and describe the strategy used to calibrate the science data
from GREAT/SOFIA during the first observing periods.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figure
Blind hyperspectral unmixing using an Extended Linear Mixing Model to address spectral variability
International audienceThe Linear Mixing Model is often used to perform Hyperspec-tral Unmixing because of its simplicity, but it assumes that a single spectral signature can be completely representative of an endmember. However, in many scenarios, this assumption does not hold since many factors such as illumination conditions and intrinsic variability of the endmembers have consequences on the spectral signatures of the materials. In this paper, we propose a simple yet flexible algorithm to unmix hyperspectral data using a recently proposed Extended Linear Mixing Model. This model allows a pixelwise variation of the endmembers, which leads to consider scaled versions of reference endmember spectra. The results on synthetic data show that the proposed technique outperforms other methods aimed at tackling spectral variability, and provides an accurate estimation of endmember variability along the observed scene thanks to the scaling factors estimation, provided the abundance of the corresponding material is sufficient
Blind hyperspectral unmixing using an Extended Linear Mixing Model to address spectral variability
International audienceSpectral Unmixing is one of the main research topics in hyperspectral imaging. It can be formulated as a source separation problem whose goal is to recover the spectral signatures of the materials present in the observed scene (called endmembers) as well as their relative proportions (called fractional abundances), and this for every pixel in the image. A Linear Mixture Model is often used for its simplicity and ease of use but it implicitly assumes that a single spectrum can be completely representative of a material. However, in many scenarios, this assumption does not hold since many factors, such as illumination conditions and intrinsic variability of the endmembers, induce modifications on the spectral signatures of the materials. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to unmix hyperspectral data using a recently proposed Extended Linear Mixing Model. The proposed approach allows a pixelwise spatially coherent local variation of the endmembers, leading to scaled versions of reference endmembers. We also show that the classic nonnegative least squares, as well as other approaches to tackle spectral variability can be interpreted in the framework of this model. The results of the proposed algorithm on two different synthetic datasets, including one simulating the effect of topography on the measured reflectance through physical modelling, and on two real datasets, show that the proposed technique outperforms other methods aimed at addressing spectral variability, and can provide an accurate estimation of endmember variability along the scene thanks to the scaling factors estimation

The surface tension of synovial fluid of bovine has investigated in the temperature range between 20,0ºC and 40,0ºC +- 0,1ºC, , at intervals of 5,0ºC. About hundred experiments were performed. Plotting the experimental results of the surface tension as a function of temperature, a linear relationship is seen to be satisfactorily obeyed. The value of "y" at the mean temperature of this specie (38,5 ºC), obtained from graphical interpolation is: y=58,3 dynes . cm-1. This value is considerably smaller than that for pure water at the same temperature and for sodium chloride in aqueous solutions at similar concentration of that present in synovial liquid. There is, thus decrease in the surface tension of the water amounting to about 20 %. The concentration of week electrolytes in the synovial fluid cannot explain this behavior. Because of this fact, we can suggest that decrease owing to the existence of some other substances - like hyaluronic acid-which can contribute to diminished the surface tension of the solvent. In future experiments we will try to confirm this assumption.
Does network complexity help organize Babel's library?
In this work, we study properties of texts from the perspective of complex
network theory. Words in given texts are linked by co-occurrence and
transformed into networks, and we observe that these display topological
properties common to other complex systems. However, there are some properties
that seem to be exclusive to texts; many of these properties depend on the
frequency of words in the text, while others seem to be strictly determined by
the grammar. Precisely, these properties allow for a categorization of texts as
either with a sense and others encoded or senseless
