The use of organic biostimulants in hot pepper plants to help low input sustainable agriculture

Background World demand for agricultural products is increasing. New insights are required in order to achieve sufficient and sustainable yields to meet global food request. Chemical fertilizers have been studied for almost 200 years, and it is unlikely that they could be improved. However, to produce food for a growing world population, various methods to increase the efficiency of chemical fertilizers are investigated. One approach to increasing crop productivity is the development of environment-friendly organic products named biostimulants which stimulate plant growth by enhancing the efficiency of chemical fertilizers. Most studies have tested these products in short-term experiments, but little information is available on their effect on plants at the maturity stage of growth. On this account, this paper focuses on the effects of two biostimulants, red grape skin extract (RG) and alfalfa hydrolyzate (AH), throughout the entire plant development

Emergency contraception as an element in the care of rape victims

In most states in Mexico, abortion is excluded as a crime in pregnancies resulting from rape. However, legislation does not specify the norms by which women can obtain a legal abortion, which makes it difficult to choose this alternative. A partial solution to unwanted pregnancies from rape would be to provide emergency contraception (EC). Psychologists were trained to provide information on EC to women who reported a rape at four public ministry agencies specialized in sexual crime. In addition, 11 medical backup referral centers were established. To scale up the strategy, workshops were provided to representatives from State Attorney General Offices and NGOs. The project’s main objective was to test the use of EC as an element in the care of rape victims in Mexico City. As noted in this report, objectives included testing the feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of providing information on EC to rape victims, and scaling up the strategy for providing EC as an element in the care of rape victims among Attorney General Offices of the different states of Mexico

A review of the molecular mechanisms underlying the development and progression of cardiac remodeling

Pathological molecular mechanisms involved in myocardial remodeling contribute to alter the existing structure of the heart, leading to cardiac dysfunction. Among the complex signaling network that characterizes myocardial remodeling, the distinct processes are myocyte loss, cardiac hypertrophy, alteration of extracellular matrix homeostasis, fibrosis, defective autophagy, metabolic abnormalities, and mitochondrial dysfunction. Several pathophysiological stimuli, such as pressure and volume overload, trigger the remodeling cascade, a process that initially confers protection to the heart as a compensatory mechanism. Yet chronic inflammation after myocardial infarction also leads to cardiac remodeling that, when prolonged, leads to heart failure progression. Here we review the molecular pathways involved in cardiac remodeling, with particular emphasis on those associated with myocardial infarction. A better understanding of cell signaling involved in cardiac remodeling may support the development of new therapeutic strategies towards the treatment of heart failure and reduction of cardiac complications. We will also discuss data derived from gene therapy approaches for modulating key mediators of cardiac remodeling

Panorama da ginástica artística feminina brasileira de alto rendimento esportivo: progressão, realidade e necessidades

The Brazilian Women's Artistic Gymnastics results in international championships are refl ecting the high level of the athletes in the modality and expressing the evolution of this sport in Brazil in the last 10 years. Therefore, this article has the goal to present data about such evolution since the fi rst participation of the Brazilian gymnasts in the Olympic Games (1980), and to refl ect the development of the modality in Brazil. The data have been collected through a bibliographic and documental research. The data analysis showed a unstructured and immature process of the development of this sport in Brazil, revealing a very different reality from what has been exposed in the media.Os resultados das atletas brasileiras da Ginástica Artística feminina nos últimos 10 anos, refletidos principalmente nas competições de nível internacional, apontam para uma expressiva evolução do esporte no país. Assim, este artigo tem o propósito de apresentar dados acerca desta transformação, principalmente a partir da participação das ginastas em Jogos Olímpicos (desde 1980), e estabelecer reflexões em relação ao desenvolvimento da modalidade no país. A partir de uma pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, estes dados foram obtidos, reunidos e contextualizados com outras informações já disponíveis na literatura. Ao analisá-los foi possível não só apontar com especificidade como se deu esta evolução, como também apresentar uma realidade deflagradora de um processo ainda imaturo de desenvolvimento do esporte no país, que não condiz em grande parte com o que é posto pela mídia (de que a modalidade está em pleno avanço e de forma estruturada)

Attività svolte dal gruppo di lavoro denominato “Gruppo di lavoro Procurement” periodo 2022/2023

Il presente documento ha la finalità di descrivere i principali flussi procedurali predisposti nell’ambito delle attività svolte dal gruppo di lavoro Procurement PNRR richiamando l’attenzione su alcuni elementi, fasi e step procedurali nonché sugli obblighi e adempimenti posti in capo ai soggetti coinvolti a vario titolo nell’attuazione degli interventi PNRR. Lo scopo del lavoro svolto dal GDL è stato quello di fornire alla rete scientifica e all’intera struttura CNR, linee di indirizzo, nonché indicazioni di massima e, per quanto possibile, suggerimenti operativi su elementi attuativi di particolare rilievo che caratterizzano le principali fasi amministrative degli interventi PNRR

Attività svolte dall'Unità Supporto al RUP periodo luglio-ottobre 2023

Vista la grandissima rilevanza che le procedure di acquisto di beni e servizi e l’affidamento di lavori assumono nelle varie attività dell'Ente, particolare attenzione è stata rivolta da parte degli organi di governo del CNR alla necessità di supportare il ruolo e le funzioni del responsabile unico del procedimento (oggi Responsabile Unico di Progetto) negli appalti e nelle concessioni. Con provvedimento del Direttore Generale CNR n. 63 del 31/05/2023 è stata istituita l'Unità Supporto al RUP afferente alla Direzione Generale per adempiere alle disposizioni dell’art. 31 del Decreto Legislativo 18 aprile 2016 n. 50 che, al comma 9, espressamente prevedeva che “La stazione appaltante, allo scopo di migliorare la qualità della progettazione e della programmazione complessiva, può, nell'ambito della propria autonomia organizzativa e nel rispetto dei limiti previsti dalla vigente normativa, istituire una struttura stabile a supporto dei RUP, anche alle dirette dipendenze del vertice della pubblica amministrazione di riferimento”
