    Exploiting hydrogen bonding to direct supramolecular polymerization at the air/water interface

    Fluid interfaces provide an advanced platform for directed self-assembly of organic composites and formation of supramolecular polymers (SPs). Intermolecular interactions govern the supramolecular polymerization processes, with hydrogen bonding (H-bonding) as a key interaction in supramolecular chemistry and biology. Two purposefully designed supra-amphiphiles for assessing the role of H-bonding were designed and their supramolecular polymerization (SP) at the air/water interface was compared. H-bonding was confirmed by in situ experimental and computational techniques as the required intermolecular interaction for attaining SPs with well-defined molecular arrangement. Control of H-bonding as opposite to traditionally considered interactions, e.g., π-π stacking is proposed as a successful strategy for SP at fluid interfaces

    La opinión del profesorado sobre la enseñanza de la educación física en función del género

    According to the opinion of the teachers of physical education about the teaching of this subject, the differences between men and women have been analysed. A questionnaire was applied to a sample of primary and secondary schools in the Autonomous Region of Andalusia. The results demonstrated significant differences in the contents related to corporal expression or to socio-affective relations; they were more valued by women. With regard to the assessment, women use more tools such as systematic observation, student textbook, student work, practical work and scale of attitudes.Partiendo de la opinión del profesorado de Educación Física sobre la enseñanza de esta asignatura se han analizado las diferencias en función de la variable género. Se aplicó un cuestionario a una muestra de centros de primaria y secundaria de la Comunidad Autónoma Andaluza. Los resultados ofrecen diferencias significativas en los contenidos relacionados con la Expresión Corporal o en el objetivo de Relaciones Socio-Afectivas, más valorado por las mujeres. Con relación a la evaluación, las mujeres utilizan más instrumentos como la observación sistemática, cuaderno del alumno, trabajo del alumnado, trabajo práctico y escala de actitudes

    Postmodern values and leisure in young Spanish university students: an exploratory study

    This article reports exploratory research about tendencies toward postmaterialism in university students. This paper used the theoretical framework proposed by Inglehart regarding three categories of leisure: postmaterialist, materialist and common. Students from a Spanish university (N = 1036) completed questionnaires that evaluated their materialist-postmaterialist values, how often they practiced the activities included in each category of leisure and the motivational factors involved in them. The results revealed that university students showed a tendency toward postmaterialism. Further, relationships were found between materialist-postmaterialist values and categories of leisure. This study results suggested that the tendency toward postmaterialist values may be a factor in structuring the leisure patterns of young Spanish university students
