An Efficacious Endometrial Sampler for Screening Endometrial Cancer

    Get PDF
Recently, the research on early detection of precancerous change and endometrial carcinoma has been focusing on minimally invasive procedures for screening. On this basis, we aim to verify the feasibility of endometrial samplers for screening endometrial cancer using Li Brush. We recruited patients undergoing hysterectomy for different diseases from the Inpatient Department of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Before surgery, endometrial cells were collected by Li Brush. The cytopathologic diagnosis from Li Brush and the histopathologic diagnosis from hysterectomy in the same patient were compared to calculate sensitivity (Se), specificity (Sp), false-negative rate (FNR), false-positive rate (FPR), positive predictive value (PV+) %, and negative predictive value (PV-). The research enrolled 293 women into this self-controlled trial. According to the hypothesis test of paired four lattices, we obtained the following indicators: Se 92.73, Sp 98.15, FNR 7.27, FPR 1.85, PV+92.73, and PV−98.15%. The endometrial sampler Li Brush is an efficacious instrument for screening endometrial cancer

Factors Affecting the Accumulation of Curcumin in Microrhizomes of Curcuma aromatica Salisb

Curcuminoids, and mainly curcumin, are potential therapeutic agents for the prevention of various diseases; however, little is known about the factors that influence their accumulation in Curcuma species. In this study, the effects of factors such as sucrose concentration, different ratios of 6-benzylaminopurine (6-BA) and α-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA), and light quality on the accumulation of curcumin and other curcuminoids in Curcuma aromatica were investigated. Microrhizomes grown on media containing 3% sucrose produced more curcumin and other curcuminoids than those grown on higher concentrations. Moreover, when compared to other ratios of 6-BA and NAA, microrhizomes induced on 3% sucrose media supplemented with 3.0 mg/L 6-BA and 0.5 mg/L NAA produced more curcumin and other curcuminoids; however, the amount was less than in microrhizomes grown on 3% sucrose alone. We determined that a 5% sucrose medium supplemented with 3.0 mg/L of 6-BA and 0.5 mg/L of NAA enhanced the levels of curcumin and curcuminoids and that exposure to red light further increased production

295-303During the second Chinese Arctic Scientific Expedition (CHINARE 2003. 2003.07 ~ 2003.09), chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) were measured from water samples collected from 26 stations in the Chukchi Sea and adjacent areas. CFCs data indicated that they had not reach saturation in surface waters. The 170°W section distribution of CFCs and the thermohaline characteristics in the Chukchi Sea confirmed that there was an inflow of Pacific Ocean water into the Arctic Ocean via the Central Channel. There are three main new results. The first, there were two sources of freshwater, the Alaskan Coastal Water (ACW) and sea ice melt water, in the shallower than 20 m seawater. The second, the water mass at station BS09A was ACW, and that stations BS06A and BS07A were likely to be a place of confluence for ACW and Bering Sea shelf Water (BSW), or for ACW, BSW and Anadyr Water (AW) water masses. The third, the ACW almost flowed along the coast, and so it had less influence on the more distant offshore stations

Different moxibustion therapies for urinary retention after anorectal surgery A protocol for systematic review and network meta-analysis

Background: postoperative urinary retention is a disease that seriously affects human daily work and life, and greatly reduces people's quality of life and affects human health all over the world. Now, many studies have shown that moxibustion has a significant effect on postoperative urinary retention. In this study, network meta-analysis was used to analyze and compare the clinical efficacy and difference of different moxibustion treatments on postoperative urinary retention. Methods: only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) will be included and all patients were diagnosed as postoperative urinary retention. Computer search Chinese databases: CNKI, Wanfang (WANFANG), VIP (VIP), Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (SinoMed), English database search PubMed, Cochrane library, Web of Science. The search period limit is from the time the date of database establishment to November 17, 2020. To avoid omissions, we will manually search for relevant reference materials and conference papers. The risk of bias in the final included studies will be assessed according to the guidelines of the Cochrane System Intervention Review Manual. All data analysis will be conducted by Revman5.3, Gemtc 0.14.3, and Stata 14.2.Results: the effectiveness of each intervention was quantified. The main results included effective rate, first urination time, and residual urine volume. Conclusion: objective to provide evidence-based medicine basis for clinicians to choose more effective moxibustion therapy for postoperative urinary retention

Relationship between cumulative exposure to pesticides and sleep disorders among greenhouse vegetable farmers

Abstract Background In the northern region of China, many greenhouse vegetable farmers are exposed to high cumulative levels of pesticides due to long-term work in greenhouses that impacts their health. The aim of the current study was to identify the relationship between cumulative pesticide exposure and sleep disorders among farmers in Yinchuan, Northwest China. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted for 3 consecutive years in 2015, 2016 and 2017. Using a random sampling to select the resident teams, 1366 participants were enrolled, and information was collected via face-to-face interviews by trained investigators. Ordinal logistic, multinomial logistic and poisson logistic regression models were used to identify the associations between cumulative exposure intensity (CEI) and sleep disorders. Results High CEI (OR = 1.56, 95% CI: 1.02–3.38) was associated with short sleep duration when compared with low CEI in the Full Model. CEI was not associated with long sleep duration. Self-rated sleep quality was associated with medium (OR = 1.46, 95% CI: 1.10–2.00) and high (OR = 2.50, 95% CI: 1.83–3.40) CEI. Similarly, having difficulty sleeping was associated with medium (OR = 1.52, 95% CI: 1.02–2.24) and high (OR = 1.74, 95% CI: 1.16–2.62) CEI. Differences in the associations by gender were also noted. Conclusion CEI was associated with sleep disorders, and gender differences were observed. Efforts should be made by local governments to address sleep problems that result from cumulative pesticide exposure in farmers, and gender differences should be considered
