Effects of joint rate and displacement constraints on stability regions
A block diagram showing plant dynamics in normal mode coordinates, a linear feedback controller with command limits, and actuator dynamics with rate and displacement limits is given. The objective is to examine the effects of joint rate and displacement saturation limits on the stability regions. An unstable short period dynamic model is transformed into normal mode coordinates and is augmented with actuator dynamics. A linear feedback controller is used to provide closed-loop stability. The stability with constrained actuator rate limits under varying bandwidth, displacement and command limits is examined
Video Object Detection with an Aligned Spatial-Temporal Memory
We introduce Spatial-Temporal Memory Networks for video object detection. At
its core, a novel Spatial-Temporal Memory module (STMM) serves as the recurrent
computation unit to model long-term temporal appearance and motion dynamics.
The STMM's design enables full integration of pretrained backbone CNN weights,
which we find to be critical for accurate detection. Furthermore, in order to
tackle object motion in videos, we propose a novel MatchTrans module to align
the spatial-temporal memory from frame to frame. Our method produces
state-of-the-art results on the benchmark ImageNet VID dataset, and our
ablative studies clearly demonstrate the contribution of our different design

Effects of chromium on the immune system
Chromium is a naturally occurring heavy metal found commonly in the environment in trivalent, Cr(III), and hexavalent, Cr(VI), forms. Cr(VI) compounds have been declared as a potent occupational carcinogen among workers in chrome plating, stainless steel, and pigment industries. The reduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) results in the formation of reactive intermediates that together with oxidative stress oxidative tissue damage and a cascade of cellular events including modulation of apoptosis regulatory gene p53, contribute to the cytotoxicity, genotoxicity and carcinogenicity of Cr(VI)-containing compounds. On the other hand, chromium is an essential nutrient required to promote the action of insulin in body tissues so that the body can use sugars, proteins and fats. Chromium is of significant importance in altering the immune response by immunostimulatory or immunosuppressive processes as shown by its effects on T and B lymphocytes, macrophages, cytokine production and the immune response that may induce hypersensitivity reactions. A rare case report of primary renal squamous cell carcinoma
Primary renal squamous cell carcinoma is a very rare entity. Only few cases are reported in the world literature. Most of the patients present at a late stage resulting in poor prognosis. We report a 44 year old female who presented with a history of lump in right flank accompanied with a dull intermittent pain for 2 months duration which intensified in the last 15 days. Antecedent risk factors like renal calculi, analgesic use were absent. Computed Tomography (CT) examination revealed a mass arising from the superior pole of kidney with extension to the posterior segment of liver. Histopathology following nephrectomy showed histological features of well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma
Simple Analytical Particle and Kinetic Energy Densities for a Dilute Fermionic Gas in a d-Dimensional Harmonic Trap
We derive simple analytical expressions for the particle density
and the kinetic energy density for a system of noninteracting
fermions in a dimensional isotropic harmonic oscillator potential. We test
the Thomas-Fermi (TF, or local-density) approximation for the functional
relation using the exact and show that it locally
reproduces the exact kinetic energy density , {\it including the shell
oscillations,} surprisingly well everywhere except near the classical turning
point. For the special case of two dimensions (2D), we obtain the unexpected
analytical result that the integral of yields the {\it

Electromagnetic transition from the 4 to 2 resonance in Be measured via the radiative capture in He+He
An earlier measurement on the 4 to 2 radiative transition in Be
provided the first electromagnetic signature of its dumbbell-like shape.
However, the large uncertainty in the measured cross section does not allow a
stringent test of nuclear structure models. The present paper reports a more
elaborate and precise measurement for this transition, via the radiative
capture in the He+He reaction, improving the accuracy by about a factor
of three. The {\it ab initio} calculations of the radiative transition strength
with improved three-nucleon forces are also presented. The experimental results
are compared with the predictions of the alpha cluster model and {\it ab

Role of the cluster structure of Li in the dynamics of fragment capture
Exclusive measurements of prompt -rays from the heavy-residues with
various light charged particles in the Li + Pt system, at an energy
near the Coulomb barrier (E/ 1.6) are reported. Recent dynamic
classical trajectory calculations, constrained by the measured fusion,
and capture cross-sections have been used to explain the excitation energy
dependence of the residue cross-sections. These calculations distinctly
illustrate a two step process, breakup followed by fusion in case of the
capture of and clusters; whereas for He + and He +
configurations, massive transfer is inferred to be the dominant mechanism.
The present work clearly demonstrates the role played by the cluster structures
of Li in understanding the reaction dynamics at energies around the Coulomb

Probing pre-formed alpha particles in the ground state of nuclei
In this Letter, we report on alpha particle emission through the nuclear
break-up in the reaction 40Ca on a 40Ca target at 50A MeV. It is observed that,
similarly to nucleons, alpha particles can be emitted to the continuum with
very specific angular distribution during the reaction. The alpha particle
properties can be understood as resulting from an alpha cluster in the daughter
nucleus that is perturbed by the short range nuclear attraction of the
collision partner and emitted. A time-dependent theory that describe the alpha
particle wave-function evolution is able to reproduce qualitatively the
observed angular distribution. This mechanism offers new possibilities to study
alpha particle properties in the nuclear medium.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Suboptimal chlorine treatment of drinking water leads to selection of multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa
The present study was undertaken to investigate the spectrum of bacteria present in the River Gomti water before and after chlorination for drinking purposes. We observed that the strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa that survived chlorination on three out of seven occasions were resistant to almost all the antibiotics tested. The chlorine-resistant bacteria had mucoid colonies and grew better at 24° C. All attempts to isolate the plasmid responsible for chlorine resistance were unsuccessful. Laboratory experiments using different strains of the P. aeruginosa in distilled water showed that only the resistant strain survived chlorine treatment at a dose of ≤500 μ g/L. Similar results were obtained when water collected from seven different sites on the River Gomti was treated with graded doses of chlorine. At the higher dose of chlorine, all the bacteria died in 30 min, whereas with lower doses all the bacteria survived. The present study underscores the importance of measuring water chlorine concentrations to assure they are sufficiently high to remove pathogenic bacteria from drinking water. To our knowledge, this is the first report in the literature of the selection of multidrug-resistant bacteria by suboptimal chlorine treatment of water
