Bremsstrahlung in intermediate-energy nucleon reactions within an effective one-beson exchange model

    Get PDF
Within a covariant effective one-boson exchange model for the T matrix of NN interactions we present detailed calculations of bremsstrahlung cross sections for proton - proton and proton - neutron reactions at beam energies in the 1 GeV region. Besides pure bremsstrahlung processes we consider photons from ∆ decays and contributions from the η → γγ process. At beam energies above 700 MeV the ∆ decay channel dominates the spectra at large photon energies, where the interference between non-resonance processes and the ∆ decay channel becomes also important. Low energy photons stem from pure bremsstrahlung processes. The available experimental data at 730 MeV beam energy is well described. We extrapolate the model down to 280 MeV, where more detailed experimental data exist, and find agreement with angular distributions

VISUAL AND COGNITIVE INTERPRETATION OF HETEROGENEOUS DATA

The paper identifies conditions that allow the use of visualization means as tools for practical study of heterogeneous data. Effectiveness requirements, the amount of input data or uncertainty of the overall goal of data analysis should be considered complicating factors for such a study. Development and practical application of visualization tools allow to overcome these factors as a result of using the advantages of visual perception for the source data interpretation. Use of cognitive maps has been proposed as a way to compensate for the subjective aspects of visual perception, as well as a tool for verifying the results of visual analysis. Combined use of visualization tools and cognitive maps forms cognitive interpretation technology, which allows solving the problems of research of empirical data belonging to specialized subject areas. An example application of this technology for processing biomedical data is considered

Magnetic interaction induced by the anomaly in kaon-photoproductions

    Get PDF
We study the role of magnetic interaction in the photoproduction of the kaon and hyperon. We find that the inclusion of a higher order diagram induced by the Wess-Zumio-Witten term has a significant contribution to the magnetic amplitude, which is compatible to the observed photon asymmetry in the forward angle region. This enables us to use the K^* coupling constants which have been determined in a microscopic way rather than the phenomenological ones which differ largely from the microscopic ones.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figure

Regularities of ultrasonography of suspensions of alumina nanoparticles in biological media

This paper studies the echo-contrast properties of an alumina nanopowder suspension using ultrasonography (US) fully corresponding in its characteristics to the techniques of medical ultrasound diagnostics of organs and tissues. The purpose of this study was to search for the possible effect of the ionic and protein composition of the biological medium on the intensity of the reflected echo signal of the contrast material based on nanoparticles. It was found that the pH of the blood promotes the maximum use of echo contrast options of alumina nanopowder suspensions. Particle size measurements in the suspension using the dynamic light scattering technique showed the stabilizing effect of blood serum and plasma on the nanopowder suspension, resulting in the attenuation of the echo signal. The data offer a basis for the development of new contrast materials based on nanoparticles for the ultrasound imaging of the heart and blood vessels. The considered mechanisms of the established phenomena make it possible to elucidate the processes of interaction of metal oxide nanoparticles with biological molecules. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd

    Ferrogels ultrasonography for biomedical applications

    Get PDF
Ferrogels (FG) are magnetic composites that are widely used in the area of biomedical engineering and biosensing. In this work, ferrogels with different concentrations of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) were synthesized by the radical polymerization of acrylamide in stabilized aqueous ferrofluid. FG samples were prepared in various shapes that are suitable for different characterization techniques. Thin cylindrical samples were used to simulate the case of targeted drug delivery test through blood vessels. Samples of larger size that were in the shape of cylindrical plates were used for the evaluation of the FG applicability as substitutes for damaged structures, such as bone or cartilage tissues. Regardless of the shape of the samples and the conditions of their location, the boundaries of FG were confidently visualized over the entire range of concentrations of MNPs while using medical ultrasound. The amplitude of the reflected echo signal was higher for the higher concentration of MNPs in the gel. This result was not related to the influence of the MNPs on the intensity of the reflected echo signal directly, since the wavelength of the ultrasonic effect used is much larger than the particle size. Qualitative theoretical model for the understanding of the experimental results was proposed while taking into account the concept that at the acoustic oscillations of the hydrogel, the macromolecular net, and water in the gel porous structure experience the viscous Stocks-like interaction. © 2019 by the authors.
