    Impact of Organizational Culture and Emotional Intelligence on Educational Sector Performance

    This study is an attempt to find that how performance of educational sectors of Pakistan is influenced by (OC) organizational culture and (EI) emotional intelligence variables. Every organization has a culture which is good or bad.  Good culture creates a positive influence on long term performance of educational institutions and good culture is better for positive performance than happy employees. Data is collected by studying the different researcher’s articles, taking interview of experts and through observations. The data was collected only from Pakistani educational sector organizations to find the results. Results show that there is a close relationship between an organization’s culture and its performance in developing countries, like Pakistan, Pakistan are rich in emotional sentiments due to their strong cultural influence of past experiences on future outcomes, education sector performance is also influenced by EI variable. The effective handling of EI particularly at workplace will provide immense outcomes which eventually will increase the productivity of organization and ultimately contributes toward the development of economy of developing countries like Pakistan.     Impact of Liquidity on Profitability in Sugar Sector of Pakistan

    The main purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of liquidity on the profitability in sugar sector of Pakistan. The data were collected from the annual reports of the listed sugar mills in Pakistan, for the period of 2007-2012. For the purpose of analysis we used SPSS; the results are derived by applying the correlation and multiple regression analysis. Correlation results show that there is strong positive relationship between all variables. According to the regression analysis all the alternate hypothesis are accepted because inventory, cash, account receivable are significant at 5% level of significance. So, the results show that firms must utilize its liquidity in best way in order to improve the profitability because liquidity variables play significant role towards improving the profitability of sugar sector in Pakistan.     GLOBAL WARMING CHALLENGES AND TACTICAL RAMIFICATIONS: ADDRESSING ECOLOGICAL SECURITY CONCERNS

    Humanity has been facing frequent trials in the contemporary era. One seriously emerging challenge is global warming. It has a record of disastrous impacts on earth that are severe and cataclysmic. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change attributes mega-disasters to global warming. These environmental calamities have raised serious concerns for leaders, scientists, environmentalists as well as public. The defence experts warn about gradually changing weather tendencies and emerging of new security challenges. Global warming is causing continuous fluctuations in our fragile ecosystem, and any persistent malfunctioning in the ecosystem would affect the politico-economic, strategic, and even very existence of humanity. It would require rational choices and new strategic approaches for saving humanity and numerous organism species under global warming impacts. Strategists, in the future, will inevitably explore looming tactical security concerns to safeguard defence capabilities. Against this backdrop, this paper argues that global warming will create severe strategic complications. In the coming decades, traditional national defence systems will have to undergo a new transformation supportive to cope with emerging cataclysmic security issues due to global warming.     TTP’S Safe Havens in Afghanistan: A Constant Threat to Pakistan’s Internal Security

    Though Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is significantly weakened and dislodged from former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) yet, it has relocated to bordering areas in Afghanistan under ideological umbrella of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and gets operational and logistics support through Afghan and Indian intelligence agencies. ISIS, having been greatly marginalized in the Middle East is struggling to gain foothold in Afghanistan with TTP as its proxy to execute the deadly terrorist attacks in Pakistan. The presence of ISIS in Afghanistan not only poses threat to Afghanistan but its collusion with TTP threatens Pakistan’s internal security as well. Pakistan’s sacrifices go in vain if cooperation from Afghanistan and the US forces is not forthcoming in defeating ISIS and TTP operating from Afghanistan.     The fold and thrust belt of the eastern Hazara division characterised the sedimentary rocks of Precambrian toPaleocene age. The sequence and formation of Precambrian signify the oldest rock unit as Hazara Slate. Geologicalmap of the study area was prepared at the scale of 1:75,000 for about 140 square kilometre area located inMuzaffarabad (Azad Kashmir) district and Lohargali of Abbottabad (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) district. The lab analysisshows that it is not rational to use Hazara slates as aggregate material due to its mineral accumulation and composition.Los Angele’s Abrasion Value, Impact Value, Crushing Value, Specific Gravity, Water Absorption, Flakiness Index,Elongation Index, Porosity Value, California Bearing Ratio test and Grain Size Analysis were done and co-related withB.S standards and the parameters were deduced. It was observed that the mineral composition of Hazara Slates rangesfor illite, kaolinite, quartz and carbonate. Kaolinite and illite are clay minerals which haveswelling potential to causeconstruction material damage the material. The presence of Carbonate and Quartz gives strength to the material, but itspercentage is low. Reserves calculation of different localities was also done for the quarry development

    Frequency and clinical variants of specific dermatoses in third trimester of pregnancy: a study from a tertiary care centre

    OBJECTIVE: To determine the frequency of patients with dermatoses in the third trimester of pregnancy and to identify various clinical types of dermatoses in the third trimester. METHODS: The study was carried out at the Department of Dermatology and the Department of Gynaecology & Obstetrics, PNS Shifa Hospital, Karachi, from January 2 to July 1, 2008. Two hundred pregnant women in their third trimester were included in the study. The diagnosis was based on history, clinical examination and relevant investigations. Patients with physiological dermatoses and dermatoses which flare up during pregnancy were excluded. A comprehensive pro-forma was used to evaluate different dermatoses. Skin biopsy for histopathology was also done where necessary. RESULTS: The age of the study population ranged from 17 to 36 years (mean = 27.3 +/- 4.86). Five (2.5%) patients had prurigo of pregnancy, 4 (2%) had dermatoses associated with Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP), 3 (1.5%) patients had polymorphic eruption of pregnancy, and 1 (0.5%) patient had pruritic folliculitis of pregnancy. No case of pemphigoidgestationis was observed. CONCLUSION: In the study, 6.5% patients presented with specific dermatoses. Prurigo of pregnancy was the commonest condition. Polymorphic eruption of pregnancy was more common in primigravida, while dermatoses with intrahepatic cholestasis was seen more often in multigravida

    Altered patterns of senescence and ripening in gf, a stay-green mutant of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)

    The gf tomato mutant, which retains chlorophyll during ripening, has been found to be affected in leaf senescence. The leaves of the gf mutant show an absolute stay-green phenotype. As leaf senescence and fruit ripening proceed, there is a marked difference in chlorophyll content between wild-type and gf. In both attached and detached leaf studies, or after treatment with ethylene, the leaves withered and abscised in gf with only slight loss of chlorophyll and carotenoids. Total protein content declined and free amino acids increased during leaf senescence in wild-type and gf, but Western analysis showed that LHCII polypeptides were retained at higher levels in gf. Expression of senescence-related mRNAs increased normally in gf whereas those for cab, rbcS and rbcL declined in both mutant and wild-type. The mutant possesses enzyme activity for chlorophyllase, the formation of phaeophorbide a by the action of Mg-dechelatase and the oxygenolytic opening of the porphyrin macrocycle. Analysis of chlorophyll breakdown products in fruit indicated that gf, like other stay-green mutants, accumulates chlorophyllides a and b, but phaeophorbide a does not accumulate in vivo. This may indicate that, in the mutant, in vivo the action of phaeophorbide a-oxygenase is somehow prevented, either by altered accessibility or transport of components required for thylakoid disassembly or the absence of another facto

    Removal of Congo Red from Aqueous Solution by Anion Exchange Membrane (EBTAC): Adsorption Kinetics and Themodynamics

    The adsorption behavior of anionic dye congo red (CR) from aqueous solutions using an anion exchange membrane (EBTAC) has been investigated at room temperature. The effect of several factors including contact time, membrane dosage, ionic strength and temperature were studied. Kinetic models, namely pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order, liquid film diffusion and Elovich models as well as Bangham and modified freundlich Equations, were employed to evaluate the experimental results. Parameters such as adsorption capacities, rate constant and related correlation coefficients for every model were calculated and discussed. The adsorption of CR on anion exchange membranes followed pseudo-second-order Kinetics. Thermodynamic parameters, namely changes in Gibbs free energy (ΔG°), enthalpy (ΔH°) and entropy (ΔS°) were calculated for the adsorption of congo red, indicating an exothermic proces
