Association of Measures of Muscle Density and SNPs in Homologs of Muscle Function Genes in C.elegans

Sarcopenia, the loss of muscle mass and strength that occurs with aging, has a crucial role in development of frailty. Although sarcopenia and other muscle-related traits are heritable, the underlying genetic variation contributing to the development of sarcopenia is unclear. Our aim was to assess whether there is a relationship between >700 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) total in 27 genes (14 genes identified from C. elegans and 13 genes in the mevalonate and ubiquinone pathways) and six traits related to sarcopenia using data from the HealthABC cohort. No SNPs were statistically significant at the experiment-wide p-value (p< 0.00001). SNPs in the locus MAGOHB were associated with THIMF, THMUSD, and TOTPF in European Americans, whereas SNPs in CYP3A5 were associated with these traits in African Americans (p<0.01 for all). Furthermore, SNPs in GOLGA4 (P<0.01) and RALGABP (P<0.001) were associated with TOTPF in African Americans, and SNPs in RALGABP were also associated with THIMF and TOTLEAN in African Americans. The results indicate that variation in some genes related to development of muscle-wasting in an animal model, C.elegans, may have pleiotropic effects on traits related to sarcopenia in older men and women. Anatomical and functional mapping of striatal circuits controlling licking

The basal ganglia receive information about sensory-motor state, internal state, the recent history of actions and their outcomes. They integrate information in order to select the optimal action in the right sensory environment, to receive or avoid the predicted outcome based on the recent history. Eventhough models, such as reinforcement learning, reward prediction error, direct and indirect pathway antagonism, linking cognitive-behavioral phenomenon with neural data are widely agreed upon, they are not sufficient to explain a vast amount of experimental data. Therefore the roles of basal ganglia structures in action selection are yet to be understood. Striatum is considered to be the main basal ganglia structure that receives input from the whole cortex, many thalamic nuclei and midbrain dopaminergic cells and integrates these inputs and projects onto basal ganglia output structures. Therefore, striatum could be the key structure involved in optimal action selection by integrating information from different brain structures, together with dopaminergic input and where the decision for optimal action is made. Heavy metal pollution in agricultural soil is one of the most important environmental problem for the different scientists, recently years. Heavy metal contamination in the agricultural soil is not only pollution but it also has dangerous effect on wild life and human life. The solution of this pollution problem by using classical traditional physical and chemical methods is too expensive. But, phytoremediation method is using for removal of heavy metal from agricultural soils, recently. This method is cheaper than classical traditional physical and chemical methods. Kinds of phytoremediation method are phytoextraction, phytodegradation, phytostabilization, phytovolatilization, rhizodegradation, rhizofiltration, phytohydraulic control, vegetative cover systems, buffer strips and riparian corridors. These kinds of phytoremediation methods were evaluated in this study

Mahmut Kütüphanesi’ne ilişkin onaylı rölöve, restitüsyon ve restorasyon projeleri doğrultusunda kurul kararı uyarınca oluşturulan Uzmanlar Kurulu ve Vakıflar Bölge Müdürlüğü kontrolünde restorasyon çalışmalarına başlanmış, ancak iskele kurulmasının ardından yapılan ölçümlerde tespit edilen sayısal farklılıklar ve 1/100 olarak onaylı projelerle uygulama yapılmasının mümkün olmaması nedeniyle 1/20 ölçekli detay çizimleri, malzeme analiz, hasar tespit ve müdahale paftaları hazırlanmış, fotoğraf albümleri oluşturulmuştur. Uluslararası koruma kriterlerine bağlı olarak yapı genelindeki muhdesler ve çimento sıvalar kaldırılmış, kubbe ve minarelerde strüktürel sağlamlaştırma, bozulan hatların ve kalemişi bezeme programının konservasyonu gibi restorasyon çalışmaları yapılmıştır

The earning power of mothers and children's time allocation in Lao PDR

In this paper I explore the relationship between a mother's contribution to household income and her children's work and school outcomes. Using household data from Lao PDR, I find that as a mother's share of total household earnings increases, her children shift time away from school and wage work to work under parental control. The findings demonstrate that a mother's short-term needs and interests may not always align with her children's long-term interests, and work may become a contested terrain between mothers and children.Publisher's Versio
