    A STUDY ON THE TECHNIQUES OF TEACHING ENGLISHUSED BY THE TEACHER FOR MENTALLY RETARDEDSTUDENTS AT SLB

    Language is a system that people need to share their ideas, thoughts or opinion in which it is formed by sounds, gesture and other symbols to express. One of important languages used for communication by most of countries in the world is English. In Indonesia, English as a foreign language is taught to the students beginning from Elementary School up to University level. It is one of education programs that must be increased and developed at school to create the intellectual and quality of the student, including mentally retarded students. Learning and understanding English are not as easy as learning our own language, especially for mentally retarded students because they are included into abnormal students. The purpose of this study was to discover and to answer the question through application of the scientific procedure. In this study, the researcher used descriptive design. It was aim to describe the techniques of teaching English used by the teacher, the problems that faced by the teacher and the teacherā€™s ways to cope those problems in using techniques of teaching English for mentally retarded students at SLB ā€“ C Sumber Dharma Malang. As her instruments, the researcher used interview and observation. There were used because she needed data from the teacher who taught English for mentally retarded students at SLB ā€“ C Sumber Dharma Malang. In SLB ā€“ C Sumber Dharma Malang especially SMALB, the teacher used repetition and modeling techniques to teach the students. According to the teacher, these techniques were the most effective techniques for the mentally retarded students. The teacher of this school said that she faced some problems when teaching and learning process. This reality caused there was not standardized textbook from the government that was suitable for the mentally retarded students. Besides, the students were low intelligences and difficulties to understand the materials. To make it easier for the students to understand the materials, the teacher had to be able to choose the materials by herself that appropriate with the studentā€™s ability. She also explained the materials three times and guided the students until they understood the materials

    JAVANESE LANGUAGE MODALITY IN BLENCONG ARTICLES OF SUARA MERDEKA NEWSPAPER

    Many languages have modalities which are usually expressed through certain modal verbs. By analyzing the modal verbs, the varying degrees of commitment to or belief in a proposition can be explained. Javanese language also has such modal system. This paper examines the modality in Javanese language used in Blencong articles of Suara Merdeka newspaper. The articles contain opinions towards many issues from the view of Javanese people and Javanese wisdom. This paper is aimed to find out the modalities realized in modal verbs in Blencong articles and to describe the functions of such modal verbs. The data were collected from Blencong articles downloaded from the online version of Suara Merdeka newspaper. They were then analyzed by using translational (identity) method. The result shows that the writers of the articles use epistemic modality to show their certainty and uncertainty about any issue, deontic modality to show their attitude towards obligation, dynamic modality to express oneā€˜s ability, and intentional modality to express the writersā€˜ wish, willingness, and hope.     The Comparison of Gabapentin and Amitriptilin Effectivity as Pain Therapy in Herniated Nucleus Pulposus

    Herniated nucleus pulposus (HNP) is one of peripheral neuropathic pain. Although concensus guidelines for the treatment of neuropathic pain are based on the results of the RCT studies, there are still gaps in the literatures. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness and quality of life of gabapentin and amitriptyline for the treatment of pain in HNP. The method used a quasi experimental with consequtive sampling. This study included 30 patients in the gabapentin group and 26 patients in the amitriptyline group, and each group was evaluated for 1 month. Effectiveness was assessed using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) every 2 weeks then analized by independent and paired sample t test. The results showed that the use of gabapentin and amitriptilin in 4 weeks showed the decrease of pain score measured by visual analog scale 3.70 Ā± 0.349 and 3.500 Ā± 0.34 although there was no statistical difference (p value = 0.704). To sum up, effectiveness of gabapentin and amitriptyline in the treatment of neuropathic pain did not have statistical difference

    As a country that is famous for her natural beauty and friendly people, Indonesia becomes one of worldtourism destinations and many foreign people visit this country. In order to provide better service, manybilingual public signs, Indonesian ā€“ English, are placed in public areas. Unfortunately, due to structuraand cultural differences between Indonesian and English, the intention of providing information is oftenhampered. Further, because of translation ignorance there are many misleading bilingual public signsthat may create confusion. In fact, public signs, regardless the language command, should evoke similareffect to the readers so that the terms used should be familiar to the target readers. On the other hand,there is no standard in translating public sign so that different public facilities may put different versionfor similar sign. This paper is going to map the method of translation applied in translating signs inseveral public areas in Surabaya and analyse the common mistake of the signs. It is expected that peoplerealise the importance of proper bilingual signs and the authorities will pay more attention to thetranslation activity, especially in producing bilingual signs and thus reducing translation ignorance

    Mutu asuhan kepaerawatan sangat mempengaruhi kualitas pelayanan kesehatan dan bahkan sering menjadi salah satu faktor penentu citra institusi pelayanan dimata masyarakat. Untuk mempertahankan dan meningkatkan kualitas asuhan keperawatan diperlukan alat ukur yaitu standar asuhan keparawatan yang baku dan disyahkan melalui kesepakatan oleh tenaga perawat. Standar asuhan keperawatan berfungsi sebagai pedoman tolak ukur dalam praktek pelaksanaan keperawatan, apakah praktek asuhan keperawatan sudah dilaksanakan sesuai dengan nilai-nilai professionalisme,etika dan tanggung jawab. Oleh karena itu pemerintah dalam hal ini Departemen Kesehatan RI,telah menetapkan dengan Surat Keputusan Dirjen yan med, nomor y.00,032.7637 tanggal 18 Agutus 1993 tentang berlakunya standar asuhan keperawatan di rumah sakit, guna meningkatkan mutu pelayanan keperawatan. Dalam melakukan tugas dan kewajibannya seorang perawat tidak lepas dan unsur yang menyertainya yaitu pengetahuan,sikap dan praktek yang dimilikinya dapat mengakibatkan timbulnya persepsi yang berbeda terhadap bagaimana seorang perawat menggunakan hak,kewajiban dalam menjalankan pekerjaannya. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian deskriptif analitik dengan metode penelitian survei,dengan cara cross sectional (belah melintang) sesaat. Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 41 sampel. Data diperoleh dengan kuesioner terstruktur dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik perawat menurut umur dibagi dalam dua kelompok yang terbesar pada kelompok umur <38 tahun (41,46%).Tingkat pendidikan formal dibagi menjadi dua kelompok yang terbesar pada tingkat pendidikan AKPER / AKBID (87,8%). Masa kerja terlama masa kerja lebih dari 9 tahun (78,05%) dan sebagian besar perawat mempunyai pengetahuan tentang praktek asuhan keperawatan baik (92,68%),sikap terhadap praktek asuhan keperawatan baik (82,93%),serta perawat telah melaksanakan praktek keperawatan dengan baik (90,24%). Hasil uji statistik chi square menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara pengetahuan dengan praktek asuhan keperawatan, sedangkan pada sikap praktek asuhan keperawatan tidak ada hubungan yang signifikan karena hasilnya kurang dari nilai pada tabel (p=0,05). Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada umumnya praktek asuhan keperawatan telah dilaksanakan dengan baik, namun demikian harus tetap diperhatikan dalam unsur peningkatan sumber daya manusianya melalui peningkatan jenjang pendidikan formal keperawatan,peningkatan ketrampilan serta pembagian tugas/beban kerja baik. This research is including research of descriptive analytic with the research method survey, by croos sectional (split atwart) momentary. This Sample Research counted 41 responder. Data obtained by quesioner is tructure and observation. Result of research show the haw of nurse characteristic of according to age divided into by two biggest group at age group <38 year (41,46%). Divided to formal Education storey level become two biggest group at storey level of education AKPER / AKBID (87,8%). Old year of service of year of service more than 9 year (78,05%), and also nurse have knowledge of about good treatment upbringing practice (92,68%),attitude to good treatment upbringing practice (82,93%), and also nurse have executed the treatment practice better (90,24%). Result of statistical test of chi square indicate that there are relation which significant of between knowledge with the practice of treatment upbringing, while at nurse attitude with the practice of treatment upbringing of there no relation which significant of because its result less than assess at tables. FRom research result indicate that in general practice the treatment upbringing have been executed better, but that way have to remain to be paid attention in element of is make-up of its human resource pass the make-up of formal education ladder is treatment, skilled improvement and also the division of duty / good work load.     Praktik Pengalaman Lapangan (PPL) merupakan kegiatan yang dilaksanakan untuk mengembangkan kompetensi mahasiswa sebagai calon pendidik atau tenaga kependidikan. Sebagai dasar pengembangan program PPL/Magang III mahasiswa dibimbing oleh dosen pembimbing dan guru pembimbing yang dilatih serta mempunyai kualifikasi sebagai pembimbing PPL/Magang III. Praktik Pengalaman Lapangan (PPL) dilakukan di SMK Negeri 4 Yogyakarta mulai dari tanggal 10 Agustus 2015 sampai dengan 12 September 2015. Sekolah ini berlokasi di Jalan Sidikan No. 60 Yogyakarta. Kegiatan yang dilakukan adalah 1) Observasi dan 2) Praktik Mengajar Terbimbing. Praktik mengajar terbimbing dilakukan di kelas XI Patiseri untuk mata pelajaran Produk Pastry & Bakery. Materi yang diajarkan berupa teori dan praktik. Hasil yang diperoleh dari pelaksanaan kegiatan Praktik Pengalaman Lapangan (PPL) adalah mahasiswa memperoleh pengalaman langsung di lapangan sebagai persiapan membentuk tenaga pendidik yang profesioanal. Observasi yang dilakukan sebelum pelaksanaan kegiatan Praktik Pengalaman Lapangan (PPL) sangat membantu mahasiswa untuk menentukan strategi pembelajaran yang tepat karena disesuaikan dengan karakteristik siswa, kelas dan lingkungan. Praktik mengajar terbimbing dapat dilakukan dengan lancar dan memberikan hasil yang baik.     Nowadays, many celebrities use Instagram to connect with their fans. Unfortunately, for some celebrities, their popularity may not necessarily mean that they are liked by the public. The keyboard warriors, i.e. haters can freely hit the keyboard and leave hate comments as cyber communication does not require face-to-face interactions. Some of them even go so far by creating hatersā€™ accounts of certain public figures, as can be found on @mulanjameelaqueen, created by the haters of Mulan Jameela, an Indonesian singer known for her affairs and unregistered marriage with her friendā€™s husband. This paper explores how being ā€œanotherā€ woman is perceived in Indonesia. Mateo and Yusā€™ (2013) pragmatic taxonomy of insults was used as the framework of analysis. The data were taken from the captions and the comments of 10 of the most commented posts of @mulanjameelaqueen. They were processed by using AntConc to obtain the most frequently used words and their collocations, and the word clusters. The results show that the most commonly used lexicons to refer to Mulan are: cireng ā€˜traditional snackā€™, lonte ā€˜whoreā€™, Jamilonte or Mulonte (coined from Mulan Jameela and lonte ā€˜prostituteā€™), and iblis ā€˜devilā€™. The malicious comments are mostly related to Mulanā€™s physical appearance, death threat to Mulan, divorce, and nikah siri ā€˜unregistered marriageā€™. The comments may also reflect most of the hatersā€™ (mostly females) negative perception and judgement on unregistered marriage, divorced female, and ā€œanotherā€ woman

    Peningkatan Kemampuan Menulis Teks Narasi Melalui 5W+1H pada Siswa Sekolah Dasar Kelas V

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatan kemampuan menulis karangan narasi melalui metode Journalistā€™s Questions (5W 1H) pada siswa kelas V SDN Burengan 1 Kota Kediri Tahun Pelajaran 2020/2021. Jenis penelitian ini berbentuk Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Subjek penelitian yakni seluruh siswa kelas V SDN Burengan 1 Kota Kediri yang berjumlah 18 siswa. Sedangkan objek penelitian ini adalah peningkatan kemampuan menulis karangan narasi melalui metode 5W 1H pada siswa kelas V SDN Burengan 1 Kota Kediri Tahun Pelajaran 2020/2021. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, tes, dokumentasi dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia menulis karangan narasi. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari perolehan indikator pencapaian. Prosentase ketuntasan pada siklus pertama pertemuan pertama sebesar 61,11%. Prosentase ketuntasan pada siklus pertama pertemuan kedua sebesar 77,78%. Hasil rata-rata prosentase siklus pertama adalah sebesar 55,55%. Prosentase ketuntasan pada siklus kedua sebesar 94,44%. Sedangkan prosentase ketuntasan pada prasiklus sebesar 22,22%. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa metode 5W 1H dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis karangan narasi pada siswa kelas V SDN Burengan 1 Kota Kediri Tahun Pelajaran 2020/2021
