Mystery in a Common Place: A Supporting Paper for a Graduate Exhibition.

This is a supporting paper for a Master of Fine Arts graduate thesis exhibition of black and white photographs held in Slocumb Gallery April 2-7, 2001. The exhibit represents my major concentration of study in Art at East Tennessee State University. The photographs depict cultural aspects of the rural Smoky Mountains. I begin with a description of the means used to suggest the mysterious aspects of human existence in everyday life. The second chapter discusses the influences of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Graciella Iturbide and details aspects of the Surrealist aesthetic suggested in this body of work. Other articulated contemporary influences include Emmet Gowin, Sally Mann, and Andrea Modica. The content and treatment of five photographs from the exhibition is the main focus of chapter three. In conclusion, the photographs delineate an intimate portrait of several rural families and stand as a tribute to the mysterious in a common place

GEOS-C C-band transponder prelaunch calibration and test data

The delay characteristics and spacecraft telemetry housekeeping data for the GEOS-C C-Band transponders are presented. The data are presented in graphical form to provide a convenient method for computing radar range measurement corrections as a function of signal strength at the transponder and spacecraft environment. The data are also presented in tabular form along with the mathematical models used to derive the curves. Also included are a list of the operating characteristics of each transponder and a description of the calibration test equipment set-up

GEOS-C coherent C-band transponder test procedure for spacecraft level tests

Procedures for the performance of two tests (electrical and airlink) for the transponder are outlined. The C-band test console used in performing the above tests is described (circuit diagrams and block diagrams), and equipment specifications are given. Calibration of the test equipment is also discussed

Test procedures necessary for the calibration and performance verification of the noncoherent C-band transponders after spacecraft hardware integration, but prior to spacecraft/launch vehicle integration are presented

Hace veinte años comenzó en Buenos Aires un movimiento integrado por jóvenes instrumentistas, arregladores y compositores obsesionados con la idea de retomar la posta de la música del tango que, de la mano de la globalización y del imperialismo cultural, había quedado en la más remisa oscuridad. Los nuevos hacedores se habían identificado con el sonido de las grandes orquestas y los compositores de la Época Dorada del Tango: Troilo, Pugliese, Di Sarli, D’Arienzo, De Caro, Piazzolla, y buscaban con ahínco la reproducción de este acervo popular al mismo tiempo que sus investigaciones dieron pie a nuevas composiciones en la medida que se ganaban horas de vuelo en el conocimiento del género.
