Water is a key requirement either to human, animal or plant. Rainwater Harvesting System (RWH) is a technology used to collect and store rainwater from the roof for reuse. The objective of this study was to investigate the factors that influence the effectiveness of the application of RWH and RWH in terms of the quantity of water collected. The scope of the study is to carried out at the National Zoo, Hulu Kelang, Selangor. This study focuses only on the second phase of the application of RWH at the National Zoo. Method of methodology used was through observation and interview. The results shown, factors that affect the application of RWH at the National Zoo is water demand, improve the quality of lake water and rainfall. For the second objective, based on the analysis, the rainwater is channelled to assist in improve the lake water. This is because, as a result of water quality tests conducted NAHRIM every month found that the lake water quality status has changed from Class IV (contaminated) to Class III (moderately polluted). Rainwater is also able to accommodate the needs of the lake water. Respondents also agreed that the application of RWH at the National Zoo for the second phase is effective. The results of this study, it can be beneficial for the government to encourage the installation of Zoo SPAH in other states

    Get PDF
This book is written with the main purpose to distribute the knowledge ofone of the many studies made about enhancing speech enhancement in communication among those workers who wear hearing protection devices (HPD) as part of the Hearing Conservation Programme (HCP). A HCP may be as important as if no other engineering approach or from the management side is impractical, therefore the HPD must be worn whenever and wherever required. Nowadays, there are so many HPD like the earmuff that provide the user to protect their hearing if said properly worn. Some of the HPDs have the feature that allowing the speech of a worker to be understood by the other whom wear HPD that block out unnecessary noise. In the engineering approach, many researchers have study about many methods to achieve the communication while HPD worn. In addition, the importance of the communication at noisy workplace is that it may give warning indicator and clear instruction. In the public health perspective, wearing a HPD is a method to reduce the occurrence of occupational Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL). However, HPD usage is not liked at all time or for all workers, thus they tend to not use the device accordingly. One of the reason is the user cannot make good communication while wearing HPD. It is hopefully, through the written content of this book, people would have a better option of HPD with appropriate communication feature by continuing previous researches made

We are graduate student from University Technology Mara (UiTM), Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Our company consists of five managers which are General Manager, Administrative Manager, Financial Manager, Marketing Manager and Operational Manager. We plan to sell the express food and drinks such as sausages, nuggets, dumpling, meatball, fishcakes, yong taufu, “kuih-muih” and etc. While, our drinks is made from juice fruits and sky juice. Our business premise will be located in UiTM, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. We choose this business because we would like to fulfill one of human needs which are food and this kind of business has not yet performs in UiTM. We have planned to start our business in October 2013. Moreover, we borrowed money around RM64000.00. The product that we intend to sell is fast food and drinks because nowadays people want to get the fast service because the student routine life is so busy. This kind of food we serve are easy to prepare that’s why we have choose this service. While, the drinks are in lower cost and also easy to prepare and many people are interested to buy this drinks. We intend to sell it by using a mobile which is van mobile where this mobile will move throughout the UiTM area. The prospect of our business in term of revenue, we forecast that in early four monthly incomes, we expect that we does not have any income or we might get loss because we are new ventures and need to pay certain things such as van mobile rental and etc. We are intending to get the money to start the business by making loan with CIMB Bank at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. In conclusion, we confidently sure that our business will be improve day by day and we will also expanding our business to another place such as Taman Indah Permai, Taman Seri Maju, Taman Kuala Menggatal and any places nearby with the success that we have achieve. Our business partnership also will contribute 51.4% to our business to ensure the loan is low that we will pay to the CIMB Bank

Software security characteristics for function point analysis

Software cost estimation (SCE) has been an important but difficult task since the beginning of the computer era. It considers list of parameters to estimate accurately the software cost. However, security cost is always excluded in most of the parametric cost estimation models. It is because of the security aspect is normally considered late in the software development. To overcome this problem, we proposed an enhancement to one of the parametric estimation models, which is function point analysis (FPA), to address the security concerns. The enhancement suggests potential software security characteristics during system development life cycle (SDLC). These characteristics are then integrated into FPA calculation to encounter the security cost estimation. This paper also points to the validation of a survey findings and calibration of the FPA calculation

Software houses are now keen to provide secure software as requested by customers’ desire with respect to security and quality of their products especially related to the software costing estimation in the software development and implementation environment. Therefore, there is a need to identify the potential security risks while estimating the application cost. In this paper, we provide a list of potential security risks throughout the system development life cycle (SDLC). This list provides useful insights for software developers and practitioners in identifying security risks so that it can be encountered as security cost in the application

Extended function point analysis prototype: with security costing estimation

Software cost estimation is a complex activity that requires knowledge of a number of key attributes about the project for which the estimate is being constructed. Nevertheless, security is becoming more and more important in most of the software construct. Reviews on several widely recognized parametric estimation models found the insufficient of current estimation in software security costing. Comparison of common security standards successfully highlighted software security characteristics to be considered in cost estimation. A survey based on the rating of these characteristics has been conducted. Analysis results from RASCH have validated the relative importance of these characteristics based on Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) software developers perspective. These validated characteristics are then extended the calculation and implemented in a Function Point Analysis prototype. The paper also points to the steps of calibrating the calculation through this prototype by conducting controlled experiments

A bird survey was conducted at the Sungai Kangkawat Research Station (117°3′34.593″E, 5°4′29.187″N), Imbak Canyon Conservation Area (ICCA), Sabah from 5th until 8th October, 2018. The objective of this survey was to produce a preliminary checklist of bird species in the study area. The primary method used was mist-netting with occasional observation from vocal and visual identification. A total of 30 mist-nets were deployed for 11 hours (0630-1730 hr.) for four consecutive days with a final accumulation of 1840 net/hours. Overall, 59 species comprising 23 families were recorded throughout the survey. Of these, 114 individuals were netted representing 41 species from 13 families. The most abundant species caught was the Little Spiderhunter Arachnothera longirostra with 26 individuals. Additionally, 18 species from 10 different families were identified via opportunistic sighting and vocalisation. This includes one Critically Endangered (Helmeted Hornbill, Buceros vigil), three Vulnerable (i.e., Rhinoceros Hornbill Buceros rhinoceros, Large-billed Blue Flycatcher Cyornis caerulatus and Blue-headed Pitta Pitta baudii and 20 other Near-threatened species. Four endemic species were recorded namely the Bornean Blue Flycatcher Cyornis superbus, White-crowned Shama Copsychus stricklandi, Black-headed Pitta Pitta ussheri and Blue-headed Pitta Pitta baudii. We expect higher diversity of birds in ICCA because the species accumulation curve did not reach an asymptote until the last day of sampling. This suggests additional trapping effort with point counts along predetermined transects should be considered for future surveys
