Eu (es)corro: identidade líquida em "Hotel Atlântico", de João Gilberto Noll

With the globalization, the subject experiments the fluidity and the volatility of time, in which the numerous spheres of the current society – public life, private life as well as family and social relationship – pass through a series of transformation whose consequences fray the social tissue. In this perspective, the objective of this article is to analyze how it is the representation of the subject identity in the novel Hotel Atlântico (1989), written by João Gilberto Noll. From a bibliographic approach, the nolliana narrative is read and analyzed following Zygmunt Bauman’s ideas, which treats the passage of modernity “from the solid to the liquid stage”. Taking into consideration the ideas of this sociologist according to his liquid identities, the study gives attention to the hiker, narrator – protagonist of the novel, a subject who is “out”, to the margin, and who roams in the boarders of the pos- modernity, without longing for knowledge, material goods or reciprocal and true affections. It is emphasized that Hotel Atlântico, is in the critical and fragmented representation of the social- historical conditioning in the text and in the thematic focus as in the aesthetic options, tames the hard task of thinking the otherness when there is a collective malaise which “melts” the identity of the subject, making it impossible the statement in society and the recognition of the “other”. Likewise, the reading of this novel enables the discussion and the reflection in relation to how social experiences can be explored aesthetically by the writers and how the artistic strategies can collaborate in the representation of a determined social context.Com a globalização, o sujeito experimenta a fluidez e a volatilidade do tempo, em que as inúmeras esferas da sociedade atual – vida pública, vida privada, relacionamentos sociais e familiares – passam por uma série de transformações, cujas consequências esgarçam o tecido social. Nessa perspectiva, o artigo tem por objetivo analisar como se dá a representação da identidade do sujeito no romance Hotel Atlântico (1989), do escritor João Gilberto Noll. A partir de uma abordagem bibliográfica, a narrativa nolliana é lida e analisada à luz das ideias de Zygmunt Bauman, que trata da passagem da modernidade em seu estágio “sólido para o estágio líquido”. Considerando as ideias do sociólogo consoante às identidades líquidas, inconsumadas, o estudo dá atenção ao andarilho, narrador-protagonista do romance, um sujeito que está “fora”, à margem, e que vagueia nas fronteiras da pós-modernidade, sem almejar conhecimento, bens materiais ou afetos verdadeiros e recíprocos. Salienta-se que Hotel Atlântico, seja na representação crítica e fragmentária de condicionamentos sócio-históricos no texto e no enfoque temático quanto nas opções estéticas, desbrava a difícil tarefa de pensar a alteridade quando se tem um mal-estar coletivo que “derrete” a identidade do sujeito, impossibilitando sua afirmação em sociedade e o reconhecimento do “outro”. Outrossim, a leitura do romance possibilita discutir e refletir acerca de como experiências sociais podem ser exploradas esteticamente pelos escritores e como estratégias artísticas podem colaborar na representação de um determinado contexto social

O artigo tem por objetivo realizar uma leitura de textos de Fernando Pessoa, através de duas personalidades poéticas criadas pelo engenho pessoano: o semi-heterônimo Bernardo Soares e o heterônimo Álvaro de Campos. A análise dos textos destes escritores/heterônimos busca detectar elementos que traduzem o estado melancólico do sujeito/escritor face à modernidade. Para verificar a demanda da melancolia na escritura destes “eus” pessoanos, usa-se os conceitos de Julia Kristeva, pois a autora vê na melancolia um caráter produtivo, em que o artista, tomado por uma tristeza primordial, fica mais propenso à criação artística

É nas páginas da literatura que são representadas as identidades sociais e a constituição do imaginário sobre as cidades modernas. Assim, na passagem do século XIX para o XX, muitos são os escritores que lançam seu olhar sobre a cidade e seu habitante. Enhanced Damage-Resistant Optics for Spaceflight Laser Systems: Workshop findings and recommendations

NASA has defined a program to address critical laser-induced damage issues peculiar to its remote sensing systems. The Langley Research Center (LaRC), with input from the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), has developed a program plan focusing on the certification of optical materials for spaceflight applications and the development of techniques to determine the reliability of such materials under extended laser exposures. This plan involves cooperative efforts between NASA and optics manufacturers to quantify the performance of optical materials for NASA systems and to ensure NASA's continued application of the highest quality optics possible for enhanced system reliability. A review panel was organized to assess NASA's optical damage concerns and to evaluate the effectiveness of the LaRC proposed program plan. This panel consisted of experts in the areas of laser-induced damage, optical coating manufacture, and the design and development of laser systems for space. The panel was presented information on NASA's current and planned laser remote sensing programs, laser-induced damage problems already encountered in NASA systems, and the proposed program plan to address these issues. Additionally, technical presentations were made on the state of the art in damage mechanisms, optical materials testing, and issues of coating manufacture germane to laser damage
