Ceramics with eutectic microstructure in the ZrO2–PrOx system

Praseodymium oxides present redox properties analogous to those of Ce‐based systems and have been proposed for catalytic applications in combination with CeO2, ZrO2, or both. However, uncertainties remain concerning the nature and redox behavior of Pr‐rich mixtures, especially with ZrO2. Here we study the eutectic composites of the ZrO2–PrOx system, focusing on the sensitivity of their microstructure, phase symmetry, and composition to variations of the processing atmosphere from oxidizing to reducing. Mixed oxides have been produced by a laser‐assisted directional solidification technique in O2, air, N2, or 5%H2(Ar) environment, and the resulting materials have been analyzed by scanning electron microscopy/energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and magnetic susceptibility. In air, N2, or 5%H2(Ar) atmosphere, a lamellar, eutectic‐like microstructure forms, the major phase being the one with less Pr content. Both the Pr concentration in each phase as the PrOx molar percentage of the eutectic composites decrease as the atmosphere becomes more reducing. Both eutectic phases are fluorite‐like when processing in air, whereas in N2 or 5%H2(Ar), the phase with high Pr content is of the A‐R2O3 type, and the phase with low Pr content can be described as a fluorite phase containing C‐R2O3‐like short‐range‐ordered regions. The results obtained for samples processed in O2 suggest that for high enough pO2 no eutectic forms, in analogy with the ZrO2–CeO2 system. The evolution of the phase composition and symmetry is discussed in terms of the limited stability of the phases found in the ZrO2–Pr2O3 system, namely, A‐ or C‐R2O3‐like, beyond a certain Pr oxidation degree and oxygen content

Inclusive-jet and dijet production in polarized deep inelastic scattering

We present the calculation for single-inclusive jet production in (longitudinally) polarized deep-inelastic lepton-nucleon scattering at next-to-next-to leading order (NNLO) accuracy, based on the projection-to-Born method. As a necessary ingredient to achieve the NNLO results, we also introduce the next-to-leading-order (NLO) calculation for the production of dijets in polarized DIS. Our dijet calculation is based on an extension of the dipole subtraction method to account for polarized initial-state partons. NNLO jet production in neutral and charged current polarized deep inelastic scattering

We calculate the fully differential single-jet production in longitudinally polarized deep inelastic scattering (DIS) at next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) accuracy, featuring both neutral-current and charged-current processes. The computation is done with the projection-to-Born method, using the next-to-leading-order dijet calculation and the NNLO DIS structure functions as its main ingredients. Pion fragmentation functions at high energy colliders

We revisit the description of pion production in proton-proton collisions in the light of the very precise data taken at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) over the past decade. First attempts to include LHC results in next-to-leading order global QCD analyses of parton-to-pion fragmentation functions insinuated some conflict between data sets at different center-of-mass system energies. We show that the data can be well described within their uncertainties by a consistent set of pion fragmentation functions once the theoretical scale dependence is taken into account in the global QCD analysis.Fil: Borsa Sanjuán, Ignacio. Electrochemical softening of concentrates from an electrodialysis brackish water desalination plant: Efficiency enhancement using a three-dimensional cathode

The electrochemical softening method to remove hardness from water has not been applied in desalination practice due to a high cathodic area requirement. In this work, the use of a 3D stainless steel wool cathode is proposed to overcome this technical limitation. An extensive comparison between the 3D cathode and a 2D Ti mesh has been presented, showing higher hardness removal for the 3D one. Experiments have been conducted with waters similar to concentrates derived from a brackish water treatment by electrodialysis. In addition, the method has been proved to be efficient for different water compositions in terms of hardness, alkalinity or the presence of an anti-scalant. The main influencing parameters (flow rate and current density) have been studied and it can be concluded that lower flow rates (below 1.2 L h−1) give rise to a better efficiencies and 100 A m−2 is the optimum current density. Moreover, the precipitate was characterised by SEM, EDX and XRD showing that Ca2+ is removed as calcite and aragonite (CaCO3), whereas Mg2+ is precipitated as brucite (Mg(OH)2). Finally, long-term experiments revealed that the 3D stainless steel cathode has a better performance than the 2D Ti mesh, but only at short times

ReMindCare, an app for daily clinical practice in patients with first episode psychosis: A pragmatic real-world study protocol

[EN] Aim Despite the potential benefits of e-health interventions for patients with psychosis, the integration of these applications into the clinical workflow and analysis of their long-term effects still face significant challenges. To address these issues, we developed the ReMindCare app. This app aims to improve the treatment quality for patients with psychosis. We chose to study the app in real world and pragmatic manner to ensure results will be generalizable. Methods This is a naturalistic empirical study of patients in a first episode of psychosis programme. The app was purpose-designed based on two previous studies, and it offers the following assessments: (a) three daily questions regarding anxiety, sadness and irritability; and (b) 18 weekly questions about medication adherence, medication side effects, medication attitudes and prodromal symptoms. The app offers preset alerts, reminders and the ability for patients to reach out to their clinicians. Data captured by the app are linked to the electronic medical record of the patient. Patients will use the app as part of their ongoing care for a maximum period of 5 years, and assessments will occur at baseline and at the end of the first, second and fifth years of app use. Results Recruitment started in October 2018 and is still ongoing. Conclusions The ReMindCare app represents early real-world use of digital mental health tools that offer direct integration into clinical care. Las Luces alemanas: cameralismo y política económica en el despotismo ilustrado austríaco y prusiano

RESUMEN A través del presente ensayo se analizan sucintamente las políticas económicas de los déspotas ilustrados austríacos y prusianos y su relación con la doctrina conocida como cameralismo. El trabajo se centra en el período 1740-1790, en los reinados de María Teresa y José II de Austria y el de Federico II de Prusia. Después de un análisis centrado en las políticas mercantilistas de estos monarcas, el trabajo aborda las ciencias camerales, tratando de contrastar la teoría y la práctica. Las tesis de Justi y Sonnenfels, los dos principales teóricos del cameralismo, se materializan en mayor o menor medida durante los reinados de los monarcas ilustrados. A través de varias realizaciones prácticas, como las academias de Lautern o Freiberg, se constata la teoría de Wakefield, que afirma que el cameralismo tenía más de propaganda que de ciencia administrativa. Haciendo extensiva las tesis de este autor, señalaremos las incongruencias entre la teoría y la práctica de gobierno de Federico II, el máximo representante del despotismo ilustrado, para recuperar en parte la figura de José II, a menudo infravalorado por la historiografía. Se plantean en este ensayo varias hipótesis sobre el carácter particular de la Ilustración alemana, la relación entre las políticas económicas de los déspotas ilustrados germanos y algunas corrientes de pensamiento económico como el ordoliberalismo alemán y los paralelismos entre el josefismo y el totalitarismo contemporáneo. ABSTRACT Through this essay, the economic policies of Austrian and Prussian enlightened monarchs are briefly analyzed, as well as their relationships with the doctrine known as cameralism. The work focuses on the period 1740-1790, in the reigns of Maria Theresa and Joseph II of Austria and Frederick II of Prussia. After an analysis focused on the mercantilist policies of these monarchs, the essay addresses the cameral sciences, trying to contrast theory and practice. The thesis Justi and Sonnenfels, the two main cameralistic theorists, become real to a greater or lesser extent during the reigns of the enlightened monarchs. Through various examples, as Lautern or Freiberg academies, Wakefield's theory is found. He states that cameralism was more a form of propaganda than an administrative science. By extending the view of this author, we point out inconsistencies between the theory and practice of government of Frederick II, the highest representative of enlightened absolutism, to recover in part the figure of Joseph II, often underestimated by historiography. Several hypotheses are raised in this paper: the particular character of the German Enlightenment, the relationship between the economic policies of enlightened monarchs and some economic schools such as German ordoliberalism and the parallels between Josephinism and contemporary totalitarianism
