Enhancement of speed and efficiency of an Internet based gear design optimisation
An internet-based gear design optimisation program has been developed for geographically dispersed teams to collaborate over the internet. The optimisation program implements genetic algorithm. A novel methodology is presented that improves the speed of execution of the optimisation program by integrating artificial neural networks into the system. The paper also proposes a method that allows an improvement to the performance of the back propagation-learning algorithm. This is done by rescaling the output data patterns to lie slightly below and above the two extreme values of the full range neural activation function. Experimental tests show the reduction of execution time by approximately 50%, as well as an improvement in the training and generalisation errors and the rate of learning of the network

Bahasa dan Ideologi: Mengungkap Ideologi dan Kekuasaan Simbolik di Balik Penggunaan Bahasa (Kajian Teks Media melalui Analisis Wacana Kritis)
Tulisan ini didasari sebuah anggapan bahwa bahasa tidak berada di ruang hampa sosial.Maka, bahasa pada dasarnya bukan hanya untaian kata yang hanya bersifat linguistik, tetapi bersifat sosial. Karenanya, bahasa dipahami sebagai tindakan sosial.Implikasinya, bahasa bukan hanya bermatra linguistik, tetapi juga bermatra sosial. Van Dijk menjadi salah satu model yang dapat digunakan sebagai alat untuk menganalisis wacana secara kritis. Penelitian analisis wacana kritis model van Dijk mempertimbangkan teks, konteks, kognisi sosial, dan analisis/konteks sosial. Untuk mengungkap hal itu, langkah yang dapat dilakukan adalah: mengungkap struktur makro (tematik), suprstruktur (skematik), dan struktur mikro yang terdiri atas semantik, sintaksis, stilitistik, dan retorika. Untuk mengungkap hal itu, di sini digunakan metode simak dan catat dengan menjadikan Suara Merdeka dan Kompassebagai sumber datanya. Hasilnya pertama,SM cenderung berideologi kasar, provokatif, dan konotatif/figuratif. Hal itu, tampak pada pilihan kata/kalimat kata yang cenderung kasar, seperti mengancam,menyerang, memanggil paksa, menyeret, menembak.Sementara, harian K cenderung berideologi idealisme pers yang objektif, netral, dan berimbang. Kedua, dari dimensi kekuasaan (simbolik), harian SM cenderung menjadi āoposisiā dan āoposanāsebagai pihak yang di-dominan-kan, sedang pihak pemerintah sebagai pihak yang ādimarginalkanā. Sementara, harian K menempatkan pihak yang dominan/marginal lebih didasarkan pada kondisi objektif di lapangan yang berbasis data dan keterangan yang dari narasumber yang cenderung netral, seperti pengamat, warga, dan akademisi; tidak didasarkan pada keterangan yang cenderung subjektif, seperti dari para politisi.Ketiga, dari sisi analisis sosial dan kognisi sosial; SM lebih tampak sebagai cerminan tagline-nya yaitu lokal (yaitu āperekat komunitas Jawa Tengahā), sedangkan harian K lebih āmengabdiā pada rakyat seperti tampak pada tagline-nya āAmanat Hati Nurani Rakyatā sehingga āsuaraā rakyatlah yang diungkapnya tanpa mengarah menjadi partisan

Bioaccessibility of apigenin from Mangifera indica (Water Lily var.) during in vitro gastrointestinal digestion
The bioaccessibility property of apigenin from Mangifera indica (Water Lily var.) was investigated using in vitro gastrointestinal digestion model. Two digestion stages were simulated namely the gastric and small intestinal digestion by using different enzymes and physiological conditions that mimicked the digestion process. Following digestion, the bioaccessible apigenin was analysed using HPLD-DAD-MS. Results showed that the apigenin fraction in intestinal phase was higher than in gastric phase with amounts 1.03 Ā± 0.35 mg/100 g DW and 0.50 Ā± 0.08 mg/100 g DW, respectively. After 1 h exposure to gastric juice, the bioaccessibility of apigenin was 20.26 Ā± 3.06% with 79.74 Ā± 3.06% losses during the digestion, whereas in intestinal phase, the percentage of bioaccessibility significantly increased to 41.53 Ā± 13.99% and 58.47 Ā± 13.99% losses after 2 h treatment with pancreatin. It was concluded that the apigenin in Water Lily mango became bioaccessible, suggesting the absorption possibility of the compound in the upper part of intestine, which can lead to the health-related outcomes

Modelling and performance evaluation of a direct steam generation solar power system coupled with steam accumulator to meet electricity demands for a hospital under typical climate conditions in Libya
This study aims to build a dynamic model of a direct steam generation (DSG) solar power system coupled with a steam accumulator to meet electricity demands for a hospital under transient environmental conditions in Libya. The main components of the system are DSG parabolic trough collectors, a steam accumulator, a turbine, a condenser and a circulation pump. The system is modelled via using Simulink\Simscape software blocks with integrated MATLAB functions to run a dynamic simulation. As the simulation tool reflects the transient operation of the components, advanced control strategies were applied to the model. Using the proportional integral controller (PI controller), safe operation of the system is secured by pump flow rate control, safe turbine operation is provided by pressure control and power output is matched with the demand by using a throttle valve control. 1584 m2 solar collector area and 160 m3 total volume of pressurised steam tank are used in the simulation considering the electricity demand of the hospital and solar radiation in the location. The produced work output was controlled to match the demand profile of the hospital, which needs 200 kW in the peak period and 50 kW at the night. The designed system shows a maximum thermal efficiency of 23.5% for the operation condition
Loneliness, social anxiety, social influence and addiction that contributes to online social networking: A study among adolescent in Malaysia
The present study aimed to identify the contribution of loneliness, social anxiety, social influence and addiction on online social networking. In the study 220 students from different seven schools in Johor Bahru district of Malaysia were taken as sample. The obtained data was statistically analyzed by descriptive statistics through SPSS 17 version. Results demonstrated that social influence is an influential variable and has great contribution on online social networking. Further the study also revealed that loneliness was found to be the weakest factor in online social networking
