In this review, we discussed the current mechanistic understanding and effects of key parameters on corrosion of carbon and low alloy steel (CLAS) in CO2 environments. In particular, we emphasized on the current understanding related to the mechanism of early stage nucleation of siderite that has evolved from the outcomes of in-situ synchrotron-based X-ray studies under various modes. We also highlighted the effect of the most important environmental and metallurgical factors affecting the corrosion behavior of CLAS. Finally, we addressed the aspects of material chemistry and micro-alloying necessary for achieving the most effective and economic materials system for mitigating corrosion in CO2 environment.Scopu

The Pattern of Quality Education: A Comparative Analysis on Public and Private Universities in Bangladesh

    Get PDF
From the beginning of the last decade the private universities have been playing massive role at tertiary education in Bangladesh. It has almost changed the total scenario, story line of the education system of the last 200 years. Private universities started with a vision, goal and amid so many barriers and obstacles. It has also sound attainment and contribution to the nation. Quality education is a prerequisite for sustainable development. For finding the determinants of quality tertiary education, studies suggest inclusion of relevant variables, as the customers are well diversified with students, their parents and guardians, and academic and administrative staff- each having different needs and objectives. Thus, this paper tries to incorporate forty nine  “Quality Characteristics” which previously found significant by various studies with a few uniquely appropriate local characteristics. The results show that the quality of private university education mainly depends upon the competence of their academic and administrative staff, the content of their curriculum, reliability of the institution, and the attitude of their staff. The aim of this article is to highlight the philosophy of research methodology as view from Islamic civilization. Scientific research has no central focus in our modern terms apart from further dominance of nature, refining our materialistic gain and maximizing the control of wealth, improving our health and live a life full of sensual pleasure with no misery. Sadly what was vision was never fully materialized, the upper echelon of the society gained the full benefit while the lower societies were left out and further denigrated

Numerical simulation of periodic MHD casson nanofluid flow through porous stretching sheet

    Get PDF
The perspective of this paper is to characterize a Casson type of Non-Newtonian fluid flow through heat as well as mass conduction towards a stretching surface with thermophoresis and radiation absorption impacts in association with periodic hydromagnetic effect. Here heat absorption is also integrated with the heat absorbing parameter. A time dependent fundamental set of equations, i.e. momentum, energy and concentration have been established to discuss the fluid flow system. Explicit finite difference technique is occupied here by executing a procedure in Compaq Visual Fortran 6.6a to elucidate the mathematical model of liquid flow. The stability and convergence inspection has been accomplished. It has observed that the present work converged at, Pr ≥ 0.447 indicates the value of Prandtl number and Le ≥ 0.163 indicates the value of Lewis number. Impact of useful physical parameters has been illustrated graphically on various flow fields. It has inspected that the periodic magnetic field has helped to increase the interaction of the nanoparticles in the velocity field significantly. The field has been depicted in a vibrating form which is also done newly in this work. Subsequently, the Lorentz force has also represented a great impact in the updated visualization (streamlines and isotherms) of the flow field. The respective fields appeared with more wave for the larger values of magnetic parameter. These results help to visualize a theoretical idea of the effect of modern electromagnetic induction use in industry instead of traditional energy sources. Moreover, it has a great application in lung and prostate cancer therapy

Systematic review of knowledge and knowledge management in Islam: an analytical study

    Get PDF
Present times, ‘knowledge’ is interpreted as intellectual, contextual, and as a changing word. In comparison, knowledge of Islam is formulated by a particular philosophy of life, i.e., Islamic Worldview (IW) which is set by the confident foundations of Islam; the Holy Qur’an and the authoritative compilation of Prophetic customs. In this philosophy of life, the term incorporates mystical, logical, decent, and virtuous, social, and developing aspects of humanoid life. The Holy Qur’an is the only foundation of knowledge of every type and it is the main and notable conviction of Muslims across the globe. Oftentimes Allah (SWT) said in the Holy Qur’an that “there is nothing in the world which I have not stated/discussed in this great book” (34:3). So, it may be described that Holy Qur’an is the eventual foundation of knowledge. The aim of the article is to explain how information is translated to Islamic ideology. The manner in which culture conceptualizes and understands information (KM) and classification are heavily affected. Present study is based on a thematic contentment solution approach. The paper concluded that each individual's achievement is a contribution from the acceptance of knowledge, and the increase of knowledge within it, and this is achieved in the flame of the Holy Qur'an, and Hadith. The present article also emphasized the meaning of knowledge, the chronological overview of KM, and the growth of Islamic knowledge

Identification of Serotype in Culture Negative Pneumococcal Meningitis Using Sequential Multiplex PCR: Implication for Surveillance and Vaccine Design

BACKGROUND: PCR-based serotyping of Streptococcus pneumoniae has been proposed as a simpler approach than conventional methods, but has not been applied to strains in Asia where serotypes are diverse and different from other part of the world. Furthermore, PCR has not been used to determine serotype distribution in culture-negative meningitis cases. METHODOLOGY: Thirty six serotype-specific primers, 7 newly designed and 29 previously published, were arranged in 7 multiplex PCR sets, each in new hierarchies designed for overall serotype distribution in Bangladesh, and specifically for meningitis and non-meningitis isolates. Culture-negative CSF specimens were then tested directly for serotype-specific sequences using the meningitis-specific set of primers. PCR-based serotyping of 367 strains of 56 known serotypes showed 100% concordance with quellung reaction test. The first 7 multiplex reactions revealed the serotype of 40% of all, and 31% and 48% non-meningitis and meningitis isolates, respectively. By redesigning the multiplex scheme specifically for non-meningitis or meningitis, the quellung reaction of 43% and 48% of respective isolates could be identified. Direct examination of 127 culture-negative CSF specimens, using the meningitis-specific set of primers, yielded serotype for 51 additional cases. CONCLUSIONS: This PCR approach, could improve ascertainment of pneumococcal serotype distributions, especially for meningitis in settings with high prior use of antibiotics

Micellar parameters and thermodynamics of interaction of fluoroquinolone drugs with cetyldimethylethylammonium bromide

    Get PDF
Interaction of fluoroquinolone antibiotic drugs, viz., ciprofloxacin hydrochloride, levofloxacin hemihydrate and lomefloxacin hydrochloride, with the cationic surfactant cetyldimethylethylammonium bromide (CDMEAB) has been studied by conductance measurements in water and in the presence of salts such as NaCl, Na2SO4 and Na3PO4·12H2O over the temperature range of 298.15–318.15 K. Two critical micelle concentrations (c*) are obtained for drug-CDMEAB systems in all the cases. The change of c* values of CDMEAB due to the addition of the drugs is indicative of the interaction between drugs and CDMEAB. Favourable micellization of drug-CDMEAB systems is observed in the presence of salts. The ∆G0m values were negative in all the cases. The values of ∆H0m and ∆S0m reveal that the binding interactions between drug and CDMEAB in water are both electrostatic and hydrophobic in nature. The existence of linear correlation between ∆H0m and ∆S0m values is observed in all cases
