New methodology to measure the dynamics of ocular wave front aberrations during small amplitude changes of accommodation
We present a methodology to measure the systematic changes of aberrations induced by small changes in amplitude of accommodation. We use a method similar the one used in electrophysiology, where a periodic stimulus is presented to the eye and many periods (epochs) of the stimulus are averaged. Using this technique we have measured changes in higher order aberrations from 0.006ÎĽm to 0.02ÎĽm and correlated them with amplitude changes of accommodation as small as 0.14D. These small changes would have been undetectable without epoch averaging. The correlation coefficients of Zernike terms with defocus were calculated, demonstrating higher values of correlation for epoch averaging. The accurate monitoring of defocus at the start of the accommodation response has shown some interesting trends that may be related with the mechanisms behind accommodation
Mirando la voz (a)callada: dimensiones del silencio en El miedo y Decir sĂ, de Griselda Gambaro
This article undertakes the contrastive analysis of two of Griselda Gambaro´s absurdist plays of the seventies, El miedo and Decir sĂ, which exemplify the relationship between the different dimensions of textual and extra-textual silence as the grounds of the author´s ethic-aesthetic activism. Objects in space, visuality, and intertextuality establish a correspondence between textual silence and the different dimensions of State silence that become the main tool for sociopolitical subjection by repressive regimes. Thus, it brings light onto the spectacular strategies used for the control of the symbolic order, providing the audience with new resources to deconstruct hegemonic discourses without incurring in the violence that it wants to denounce
Hydrogen storage in the form of metal hydrides
Reversible reactions between hydrogen and such materials as iron/titanium and magnesium/ nickel alloy may provide a means for storing hydrogen fuel. A demonstration model of an iron/titanium hydride storage bed is described. Hydrogen from the hydride storage bed powers a converted gasoline electric generator

Electronic properties of SnO2-based ceramics with double function of varistor and humidity sensor
This is the post-print version of the article. The official published version can be obtained from the link below - Copyright @ 2010 AD-Tech.Tin dioxide based varistor ceramics SnO2-Co3O4-Nb2O5-Cr2O3-xCuO (x=0; 0.05; 0.1 and 0.5) were made and their electrical properties were studied. The highest nonlinearity coefficient and electric field (at current density 10-3 A cm-2) were obtained for 0.1 mol.% CuO addition. It was observed that low-field electrical conductivity is increased with relative humidity, therefore, materials obtained exhibit double function of varistor and humidity sensor. The highest humidity sensitivity coefficient is found for SnO2-Co3O4-Nb2O5-Cr2O3 ceramics (without CuO). Observed varistor and humidity-sensitive properties are explained in the frames of grain-boundary double Schottky barrier concept as a decrease of the barrier height with electric field or relative humidity. Using suggested simple theory and data obtained on isothermal capacitance relaxation, the energy of the grain-boundary monoenergetic trapping states were estimated. These values are less than found for activation energy of electrical conduction (as a measure of the barrier height). These observations confirm the barrier concept. This work is funded by the Royal Society, United Kingdom (2007R1/R26999)
