Tourism as a human phenomenon: environmental, social and economic approaches of the communitarian tourism

A temática do turismo tem sido estudada, sobretudo, sob a ótica das Ciências Sociais aplicadas. Utilizando-se também de referências bibliográficas das Ciências Ambientais, este trabalho objetiva discutir as dimensões histórica, econômico-administrativa, filosófico-social-política e ambiental do Turismo, entendendo-o como um fenômeno humano. O texto sugere a necessidade de se incorporarem ao debate científico tipos de racionalidade que não compartilham com a racionalidade utilitarista que, por sua vez, pode ser vista como indutora de impactos destrutivos do turismo junto às comunidades receptoras.This paper based on bibliographical references of Humanities,Environmentalism and Applied Social Sciences. It's objective suggests propositions that enlarges the understanding of Tourism. Methodologically, itincorporated in the scientific debate types of rationality in processes that share new experiences which, not always, are necessarily used of the individualistic utilitarian rationality, originated from the estrangement of the benefits caused by the touristic activity to the receivable communities

Uma proposta de um modelo de gestão organizacional estratégica para o desenvolvimento sustentável (SIGOS)

Contribuições para a Sistematização de Experiências Ecossocioeconômicas: Um Estudo na Associação Acolhida na Colônia Urubici

The paper contributes to the systematization of eco-socioeconomic experiences, conducted through the Methodology of Incubation of Organizational/Territorial Demands, beyond its descriptive character, adding intersubjective dimensions. The study took place at the Associação de Agroturismo Acolhida na Colônia in Urubici/SC, and adopted the phenomenological immersion method, combining participant observation with in-depth interviews. Data analysis was based on phenomenological communication, supported by Atlas Ti 22® software. The phenomenological analysis identified three elements to contribute to the FQCD: (1) elements of the social, economic, and cultural history of the territory, which impact on the configuration and results of the experience; (2) collective benefits perceived by the subjects; (3) collective values. These elements contribute to the apprehension, description and understanding of intersubjective dimensions in the systematization of eco-socioeconomic experiences. The historical elements broaden the understanding of the configuration of the experience, and its results. The identification of perceived collective benefits and values contributes to understanding the process of meaning production, and thereby understanding how intersubjective relationships reveal aspects that are not directly apprehensible. Regarding the MIDO-T and the FQCD, the following recommendations are made: (1) that research methods that expand the researcher's involvement with the studied reality are privileged in the systematization; (2) inclusion of fields in the FQCD that allow collecting data referring to the elements presented above; (3) replace the name of the form with the Systematization of Ecosocioeconomic Experiences Form (FSEE), to explain its function and purpose, as well as broaden its approach.O artigo contribui com a sistematização de experiências ecossocioeconômicas, conduzidas por meio da Metodologia de Incubação de Demandas Organizacionais/Territoriais (MIDO-T) e do Formulário Qualitativo de Coleta de Dados (FQCD), para além de seu caráter descritivo, agregando dimensões intersubjetivas. O estudo foi realizado na Associação de Agroturismo Acolhida na Colônia em Urubici/SC. Adotou-se o método da imersão fenomenológica combinando a observação participante com entrevistas em profundidade. A análise de dados baseou-se na comunicologia fenomenológica, com suporte do software Atlas Ti 22®. A análise fenomenológica identificou três elementos para contribuir com o FQCD: (1) elementos da história social, econômica e cultural do território, que impactam na configuração e nos resultados da experiência; (2) benefícios coletivos percebidos pelos sujeitos; (3) valores coletivos. Esses elementos contribuem para a apreensão, descrição e compreensão de dimensões intersubjetivas na sistematização de experiências ecossocioeconômicas. Os elementos históricos ampliam a compreensão da configuração da experiência, e de seus resultados. A identificação de benefícios e valores coletivos percebidos contribui para conhecer o processo de produção de sentido, e com isso compreender de que forma as relações intersubjetivas revelam aspectos que não são apreensíveis de forma direta. Em relação à MIDO-T e ao FQCD faz-se as seguintes recomendações: (1) que na sistematização sejam privilegiados métodos de pesquisa que ampliem o envolvimento do pesquisador com a realidade estudada; (2) inclusão de campos no FQCD que permitam coletar dados referentes aos elementos apresentados acima; (3) substituir o nome do formulário para Formulário de Sistematização de Experiências Ecossocioeconômicas (FSEE), para explicitar sua função e seu objetivo, bem como ampliar sua abordagem

Honors in Chile: New Engagements in the Higher Education System

Honors programs are rare in Latin America, and in Chile they were unknown before 2003. At the Universidad Austral de Chile, an interdisciplinary group of scholars linked to environmental studies put forward a pilot project for implementing a new experience in higher education. Challenged by an educational environment where (i) apathy and mediocrity have taken over the classrooms, (ii) monodisciplinary training rules the university campus, and (iii) authoritarian teaching persists, this has been an experiment in new ways of approaching the classroom. Stimulated by experiences in the USA, a project proposal was written, finding support in the Chilean Ministry of Education. Three years of experience have proven that a Chilean honors program can serve as a model for programs elsewhere in Latin America. In the following pages we aim to provide a summary of what this experience has meant, using the most recent class as an example. Some background about the university and the Chilean system needs to be supplied, while most of the paper deals with the particular features of this program and its immediate future

An environmental or a socio-environmental issue? The nature of the society-environment relationship

A problemática socioambiental postula uma mudança de paradigma que tem como base de sustentaçãouma racionalidade alternativa aos grandes conflitos da sociedade moderna. Esses conflitos são traduzidose resumidos pela difícil relação entre desenvolvimento econômico e preservação ambiental. A mudançade paradigma está no fato de inserir a sustentabilidade socioambiental como critério de desenvolvimento.A problemática socioambiental postula também outra abordagem epistemológica por intermédio da visãosistêmica e da atuação interdisciplinar, apoiada numa mudança moral e ética. O objetivo deste ensaio édiscorrer sobre esses postulados de mudança e sobre a dicotomia entre sistemas ecológicos e sociais.The socio-environmental debate postulates a paradigm shift that is sustained by a kind of rationalitythat serves as an alternative to the big conflicts of modern society. These conflicts have to do with thedifficult relationship between economic development and environmental preservation. The paradigmshift consists in including socio-environmental sustainability as a pre-requisite for development. Thesocio-environmental debate also postulates another epistemological approach through a systemic visionand inter- and trans-disciplinary action, propped up by moral and ethical change. The purpose ofthis paper is to discuss these change postulates, while undoing the dichotomy between ecological and social systems

O PROCESSO DE TOMADA DE DECISÃO SOB O VIÉS DA ECOSSOCIOECONOMIA DAS ORGANIZAÇÕES: O CASO DE UMA COOPERATIVA CATARINENSE DE ARTESÃOS

The objective of this work is to analyze the Arte Rio Cooperative’s decision making process to assess how far it comprehends its members’ cooperative production system, i.e. if there is a logic governing the process that is different from utilitarian economics. It was inferred that the logic involved in the decision making process is contrary to market economy rationality. The cooperative’s decision making process has found mechanisms to adapt to the dictates of the market economy, mechanisms which modify popular culture and knowledge and the cooperative lifestyle of its members. This is a qualitative study supported by bibliographic and document analysis, descriptive exploratory research, participative observation and structured script interviews. In the decision making process, aspects such as popular knowledge and cooperation where highlighted, under the multidisciplinary eco-socioeconomic viewpoint, contrasting it to market logic. It was concluded that the cooperative’s decision making process is fraught with conflicting viewpoints. ECOSSOCIOECONOMIA: UM PRIMEIRO OLHAR NA PRODUÇÃO CIENTÍFICA BRASILEIRA SOBRE O TEMA

O trabalho analisou a produção científica brasileira sobre ecossocioeconomia por meio de um estudo bibliométrico. Foram analisados os eventos EnANPAD; EnEO; 3Es; EnGPR; EMA; EnADI; EnAPG; Engema e Revista RGSA, período 1999-2009. A pesquisa enquadra-se como descritiva, documental, quantitativa e corte longitudinal. A seleção se baseou nas palavras “ecossocioeconomia”; “interorganizacional”; “extra-organizacional” e “extra-racionalidade”, foram encontrados 42 artigos. Quanto aos Programas Stricto Sensu, destacaram-se que 20% dos autores estão vinculados em nível doutorado: PPGA/UFRGS e PPGAD/UFLA, e 25% em nível de mestrado ao CEPPAD/UFPR. Sete autores estão presentes em 40,4% dos artigos. Conclui-se que as publicações de artigos envolvendo o tema estão concentradas em um pequeno número de autores, que optam por escrever em pequenos grupos e também de forma individualizada

Turismo de base comunitária: convivencialidade e conservação ambiental

As contendas que vem sendo travadas com o fenômeno do turismo possibilitamrepensar na atividade rumo a um novo modelo que atenda os critérios dasustentabilidade e também a um novo tipo de turista. Neste estudo é apresentado operfil da demanda turística que se identifica com a nova modalidade denominada“turismo de base comunitária”, por meio de pesquisa realizada junto aos visitantesdas pequenas comunidades rurais de Brejumirim, Candonga, Canhembora e RioSagrado de Cima que compõe o território do Microbacia do Rio Sagrado, em Morretesno Paraná. A partir da identificação das motivações e características deste novo tipode turista, apresenta-se alguns conceitos e característica da área de estudo. Aconclusão é que o perfil deste visitante analisados, está diretamente ligado à suabagagem cultural e seu nível de consciência socioambiental
