Mechanical Effects in PEM Fuel Cell: Application to Modeling of Assembly Procedure
Mechanical effects can influence significantly electrical performance and life time of PEM fuel cells. A linear elasticplastic
2D model of fuel cell with hardening is used for modeling of assembly procedure of fuel cells. The model
simulates mechanical behavior of the main components of real fuel cell (the membrane, the gas diffusion layers, the
graphite plates, and the seal joints) and clamping elements (the steel plates, the bolts, the nuts). The stress and plastic
deformation in MEA have been calculated using ABAQUS code. The results are presented on the local and the global
scales with respect to the realistic clamping conditions. The first one corresponds to the single tooth/channel structure.
The global scale deals with features of the entire cell and takes into account the border effects, in particular the
influence of seal joints
Neutron Detection in the A2 Collaboration Experiment on Neutral Pion Photo-production on Neutron
Neutron detection is of crucial importance for the neutral pion photo-production study on a neutron target that now is in progress at MAMI. Two electro-magnetic calorimeters, based on NaI and BaF2 crystals, are used in the A2 experiment. While these calorimeters are optimized for pion decay photon detection, they have a reason able efficiency for neutron detection also. The paper describes the method, which has been used to measure this efficiency using the same data taken for pion photo-production study on deuterium target with tagged photon been of 800 MeV maximal energy. The detection efficiency is a rising function of neutron momentum that reaches 40% near 1 GeV/c
Measurement of pi^0 photoproduction on the proton at MAMI C
Differential cross sections for the gamma p -> pi^0 p reaction have been
measured with the A2 tagged-photon facilities at the Mainz Microtron, MAMI C,
up to the center-of-mass energy W=1.9 GeV. The new results, obtained with a
fine energy and angular binning, increase the existing quantity of pi^0
photoproduction data by ~47%. Owing to the unprecedented statistical accuracy
and the full angular coverage, the results are sensitive to high partial-wave
amplitudes. This is demonstrated by the decomposition of the differential cross
sections in terms of Legendre polynomials and by further comparison to model
predictions. A new solution of the SAID partial-wave analysis obtained after
adding the new data into the fit is presented.Comment: 13 pages, 12 figures, 1 tabl
Measurement of hadronic cross section and preliminary results on the pion form factor using the radiative return at DAPHNE
In the fixed energy environment of the collider DANE, KLOE
can measure the cross section of the process hadrons as a
function of the hadronic system energy using the radiative return. At energies
below 1 GeV, is the dominating
hadronic process. We report here on the status of the analysis for the
e^{+}e^{-} \to \ppg channel, which allows to obtain a preliminary measurement
of the pion form factor using an integrated luminosity of .Comment: Invited talk at the Seventh International Workshop on Tau Lepton

Vus and lepton universality from kaon decays with the KLOE detector
KLOE has measured most decay branching ratios of Ks, Kl and K+/- mesons. It
has also measured the Kl and the K+- lifetime and determined the shape of the
form factors involved in kaon semileptonic decays. We present in the following
a description of the above measurements and a well organized compendium of all
of our data, with particular attention to correlations. These data provide the
basis for the determination of the CKM parameter Vus and a test of the
unitarity of the quark flavor mixing matrix. We also test lepton universality
and place bounds on new physics using measurements of Vus from Kl2 and Kl3
decays.Comment: 23 pages, 12 figures. Submitted to JHE
Precision measurement of and determination of the contribution to the muon anomaly with the KLOE detector
We have measured the ratio
, with the KLOE detector at DANE for a total integrated
luminosity of 240 pb. From this ratio we obtain the cross section
. From the cross section we determine the
pion form factor and the two-pion contribution to the muon anomaly
for GeV, = . This result confirms the
current discrepancy between the Standard Model calculation and the experimental
measurement of the muon anomaly.Comment: 18 pages, 8 figures, minor text corrections, one table added, version

Measurement of the leptonic decay widths of the phi-meson with the KLOE detector
The phi-meson leptonic widths, Gee and Gmm, are obtained, respectively, from
the e+e- forward-backward asymmetry and the muon cross section around the
phi-mass energy. We find Gee=1.32⊕0.05⊕0.03 kev and sqrt(GeeGmm)=
1.320⊕0.018⊕0.017 kev. These results, compatible with Gee=Gmm,
provide a precise test of lepton universality. Combining the two results gives
G_lept=1.320⊕0.023 kev.Comment: 10 pages and 8 figures to be submitted to Phys.Lett.
