Measurement of the gamma angle from tree decays at the LHCb experiment

An overview of plans for the measurement of gamma at the LHCb experiment will be shown. The gamma angle is the least accurately known parameter of the CKM unitary triangle. The LHCb experiment at the CERN LHC aims to perform precision heavy flavour and CP violation measurements, including improving the knowledge of gamma. Focus will be put on methods using B meson decays at the tree level, within the Standard Model framework. The early data recorded by the experiment, from pp collisions at sqrt{s} = 7 TeV, allowed observations of the first signals of the B decay modes that will be used to perform this measurement.Comment: Presented at the 2011 Hadron Collider Physics symposium (HCP-2011), Paris, France, November 14-18 2011, 3 pages, 9 figure

Studying DNA Double-Strand Break Repair: An Ever-Growing Toolbox

To ward off against the catastrophic consequences of persistent DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs), eukaryotic cells have developed a set of complex signaling networks that detect these DNA lesions, orchestrate cell cycle checkpoints and ultimately lead to their repair. Collectively, these signaling networks comprise the DNA damage response (DDR). The current knowledge of the molecular determinants and mechanistic details of the DDR owes greatly to the continuous development of ground-breaking experimental tools that couple the controlled induction of DSBs at distinct genomic positions with assays and reporters to investigate DNA repair pathways, their impact on other DNA-templated processes and the specific contribution of the chromatin environment. In this review, we present these tools, discuss their pros and cons and illustrate their contribution to our current understanding of the DDR.European Research Council (ERC-2014-CoG 647344

Gestión y estructuración del espacio con profesores. Una estrategia para centrar la atención en estudiantes con dificultades de adaptación a la vida escolar

El desarrollo practico-teórico con los participantes al taller, permite generar algunas estrategias de intervención pedagógica para el manejo de situaciones académicas y disciplinarias, que ayuden a centrar y mejorar la atención de los estudiantes, basados en el desarrollo vivencial de la experiencia de gestión y estructuración del espacio, al realizar una serie de recorridos sobre figuras geométricas que buscan desinhibir el sistema nervioso de la persona, para enfrentar miedos y mejorar las relaciones interpersonales. Así mismo, los recorridos sobre las figuras geométricas ayudan a identificar la timidez, inseguridad, agresividad, dispersión, fascinación y aceptación durante una actividad. De ahí que la metodología propuesta por Degoumois se desarrolle en la persona para atender las necesidades de adaptación a la vida escolar

Estilo de vida y fertilidad: actuación del profesional de enfermería

[EN]Los problemas a la hora de conseguir un embarazo tienen cada vez una mayor incidencia entre las parejas en edad reproductiva. El estilo de vida actual ha supuesto un cambio en los patrones reproductivos, viéndose un incremento de parejas con problemas de fertilidad. Se retrasa cada vez más la edad de los progenitores, del mismo modo que los patrones alimenticios han cambiado, provocando un mayor número de personas con sobrepeso y obesidad. Los hábitos tóxicos como el consumo de tabaco y alcohol siguen también predominando en la población, a lo que se le suma el estrés con el que vive actualmente la gran mayoría de la población. Todos estos factores se han visto relacionados con problemas de esterilidad; tienen un efecto negativo tanto en hombres como en mujeres. Ya que estos son modificables, la enfermería debe abordarlos y ayudar a aquellas parejas estériles a alcanzar unas condiciones de salud óptimas para lograr un embarazo y en caso de no conseguirlo y necesitar de técnicas de reproducción asistida, aumentar al máximo su eficacia

Lot Streaming in Different Types of Production Processes: A PRISMA Systematic Review

At present, any industry that wanted to be considered a vanguard must be willing to improve itself, developing innovative techniques to generate a competitive advantage against its direct competitors. Hence, many methods are employed to optimize production processes, such as Lot Streaming, which consists of partitioning the productive lots into overlapping small batches to reduce the overall operating times known as Makespan, reducing the delivery time to the final customer. This work proposes carrying out a systematic review following the PRISMA methodology to the existing literature in indexed databases that demonstrates the application of Lot Streaming in the different production systems, giving the scientific community a strong consultation tool, useful to validate the different important elements in the definition of the Makespan reduction objectives and their applicability in the industry. Two hundred papers were identified on the subject of this study. After applying a group of eligibility criteria, 63 articles were analyzed, concluding that Lot Streaming can be applied in different types of industrial processes, always keeping the main objective of reducing Makespan, becoming an excellent improvement tool, thanks to the use of different optimization algorithms, attached to the reality of each industry.This work was supported by the Universidad Tecnica de Ambato (UTA) and their Research and Development Department (DIDE) under project CONIN-P-256-2019, and SENESCYT by grants “Convocatoria Abierta 2011” and “Convocatoria Abierta 2013”

Compound Odontomas: A Report of Three Clinical Cases

Odontomas are the most common benign odontogenic tumors. They appear at any age with a peak in young patients. They are made up of dental tissues: enamel, dentin, cementum and pulp, and can be classified into compounds and complexes depending on whether or not they exhibit morphodifferentiation. They generally occur asymptomatically and are diagnosed as a finding in routine radiographs, however, on many occasions they alter the process of tooth eruption and this is the reason why the patient seeks a dentist's consultation. It is important to establish an individualized treatment plan to avoid aesthetic and functional sequelae. In this study, three clinical cases of Composite Odontomas are described, two of them in relation to retained permanent teeth, which underwent surgical treatment. One case also required orthodontic treatment. The diagnoses were corroborated by histopathological studies, concluding that it is necessary to investigate the presence of these tumors before the absence of teeth in the oral cavity

Conceptos de Neuromarketing aplicados a las caracteríticas del empaque y envase para la aceptación del champú como producto de cuidado personal

The traditional marketing has been influenced by the Neuroscience, nowadays it is no longer important what the company assumes that the client wants but knowing the reason why a client prefers a certain product or brand. The fusion of Marketing with Neuroscience has given rise to a new discipline called Neuromarketing, which goes beyond satisfying consumer needs to identifying the real reasons why the individual makes the decision to purchase. Therefore, big companies have chosen to apply strategies of Neuromarketing in their strategic plans with the primary goal of achieving customer loyalty. Likewise, most strongly positioned brands that sell personal care products are concerned to identify conscious or metaconscious perceptions that consumers have regarding the packaging features such as color, shape and material. For this reason, in this investigation we used with certain characteristics of shampoo containers to determine the association between variables such as color, texture and shape and perceptions that consumers have according to price, quality and quantity.El Marketing tradicional ha sido revolucionado por la Neurociencia; por lo tanto, en la actualidad no es importante lo que la empresa asume que quiere el cliente, sino identificar la razón por la cual el cliente compra o prefiere una marca. Es así, que la fusión del Marketing con las Neurociencias ha dado origen a una nueva disciplina llamada Neuromarketing, la cual va más allá de sólo satisfacer las necesidades del consumidor e intenta identificar las verdaderas razones por las cuales el individuo toma la decisión de compra. Tomando en cuenta esto, grandes empresas han aplicado estrategias basadas en conceptos de Neuromarketing que ayuden a fidelizar a los clientes. De la misma forma, la mayoría de marcas fuertemente posicionadas que comercializan productos de cuidado personal se encuentran interesadas por identificar las percepciones conscientes o metaconscientes que tienen los consumidores en cuanto se refiere a características del empaque como el color, forma y material.
