This article presents the new epigraphic discoveries recorded in October 2015 as part of the ongoing city excavations being conducted in Gadara by the oriental division of the DAI and the Jordanian Department of Antiquities (DoA). Like most inscriptions from this member of the dekapolis, they date to the Imperial period and belong to a variety of genres. Interesting finds include a bilingual private building inscription with a dedication to Trajan, a civic dedication to Antoninus Pius and Marcus Aurelius, and a civic honorary inscription for the orator Calpurnius Bassus. They further provide the first epigraphic attestation of the cityâs name of Gadara, as well as its honorary name of Pompeia, while also allowing for new insights into the cityâs social structure: A significant portion of the cityâs elite seems to have consisted of Roman citizens, apparently often veterans, many of whom presumably had regional roots.tbaDans cet article sont prĂ©sentĂ©es les nouveautĂ©s Ă©pigraphiques autopsiĂ©es en octobre 2015 et provenant des fouilles urbaines rĂ©alisĂ©es dans la dĂ©capole de Gadara par la Orient-Abteilung du DAI ainsi que du Department of Antiquities (DoA) jordanien.
(Autorenreferat)"In recent years, an increase of health-related self-help groups can be observed. This article wants to work out key differences in the field based on a theoretical analysis of societal functions and a review of empirical data. Three functions of self-help groups are derived from theoretical considerations: 'mutual support', 'complementary service provision through individual support', and a 'collective representation of interests'. An empirical analysis, in context of a most recent and comprehensive Austrian study, shows that most of the health-related self-help groups can be described in three types, representing various combinations of these functions. Organizational structures, activities, the need for resources and external relations of these types of groups differ significantly and in accordance with the theoretical assumptions." Viscosity and scale invariance in the unitary Fermi gas
We compute the shear viscosity of the unitary Fermi gas above the superfluid
transition temperature, using a diagrammatic technique that starts from the
exact Kubo formula. The formalism obeys a Ward identity associated with scale
invariance which guarantees that the bulk viscosity vanishes identically. For
the shear viscosity, vertex corrections and the associated Aslamazov-Larkin
contributions are shown to be crucial to reproduce the full Boltzmann equation
result in the high-temperature, low fugacity limit. The frequency dependent
shear viscosity exhibits a Drude-like transport peak and a
power-law tail at large frequencies which is proportional to the Tan contact.
The weight in the transport peak is given by the equilibrium pressure, in
agreement with a sum rule due to Taylor and Randeria. Near the superfluid
transition the peak width is of the order of , thus invalidating a
quasiparticle description. The ratio between the static shear
viscosity and the entropy density exhibits a minimum near the superfluid
transition temperature whose value is larger than the string theory bound
by a factor of about seven.Comment: 34 pages, 9 figures; final form (contains new derivation of sum
rule), accepted for publication in Annals of Physic

Human Intestinal Tissue with Adult Stem Cell Properties Derived from Pluripotent Stem Cells
Genetically engineered human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) have been proposed as a source for transplantation therapies and are rapidly becoming valuable tools for human disease modeling. However, many applications are limited due to the lack of robust differentiation paradigms that allow for the isolation of defined functional tissues. Here, using an endogenous LGR5-GFP reporter, we derived adult stem cells from hPSCs that gave rise to functional human intestinal tissue comprising all major cell types of the intestine. Histological and functional analyses revealed that such human organoid cultures could be derived with high purity and with a composition and morphology similar to those of cultures obtained from human biopsies. Importantly, hPSC-derived organoids responded to the canonical signaling pathways that control self-renewal and differentiation in the adult human intestinal stem cell compartment. This adult stem cell system provides a platform for studying human intestinal disease in vitro using genetically engineered hPSCs
Omecamtiv mecarbil in chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, GALACTICâHF: baseline characteristics and comparison with contemporary clinical trials
Aims:
The safety and efficacy of the novel selective cardiac myosin activator, omecamtiv mecarbil, in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) is tested in the Global Approach to Lowering Adverse Cardiac outcomes Through Improving Contractility in Heart Failure (GALACTICâHF) trial. Here we describe the baseline characteristics of participants in GALACTICâHF and how these compare with other contemporary trials.
Methods and Results:
Adults with established HFrEF, New York Heart Association functional class (NYHA)ââ„âII, EF â€35%, elevated natriuretic peptides and either current hospitalization for HF or history of hospitalization/ emergency department visit for HF within a year were randomized to either placebo or omecamtiv mecarbil (pharmacokineticâguided dosing: 25, 37.5 or 50âmg bid). 8256 patients [male (79%), nonâwhite (22%), mean age 65âyears] were enrolled with a mean EF 27%, ischemic etiology in 54%, NYHA II 53% and III/IV 47%, and median NTâproBNP 1971âpg/mL. HF therapies at baseline were among the most effectively employed in contemporary HF trials. GALACTICâHF randomized patients representative of recent HF registries and trials with substantial numbers of patients also having characteristics understudied in previous trials including more from North America (n = 1386), enrolled as inpatients (n = 2084), systolic blood pressureâ<â100âmmHg (n = 1127), estimated glomerular filtration rate <â30âmL/min/1.73 m2 (n = 528), and treated with sacubitrilâvalsartan at baseline (n = 1594).
Conclusions:
GALACTICâHF enrolled a wellâtreated, highârisk population from both inpatient and outpatient settings, which will provide a definitive evaluation of the efficacy and safety of this novel therapy, as well as informing its potential future implementation
