Rojas Zorrilla’s bibliography is one of the most complex in the golden theatre research. The publication of a notaries document about the sale of eight of his theatre works, which have suffered different vicissitudes throughout the bibliographic tradition, can be considered of a great interest. The current article, transcribe the contract, and research of each of the Rojas Zorrilla’s comedies which he sold as made on his own, with the aim of clarifying the current situation of this question and of cleaning up the way for future research about this author

A Meta-analysis of Gut Microbiota in Children with Autism

    Get PDF
Previous studies have reported dysbiosis in the gut microbiota (GM) of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), which may be a determining factor on child development through the microbiota-gut-brain axis. However, it is not clear if there is a specific group of dysbiotic bacteria in ASD. The aim of this study was to carry out a meta-analysis on the studies that analyze GM in children with ASD. 18 studies fulfilled our selection criteria. Our results showed a lower relative abundance of Streptococcus (SMD+ = − 0.999; 95% CI − 1.549, − 0.449) and Bifidobacterium genera (SMD+ = − 0.513; 95% CI − 0.953, − 0.073) in children with ASD. Overall, the Bifidobacterium genera is involved. However, differences found between studies are attributed to factors such as reporting bias

Superhydrophobic substrates allow the generation of giant quasi-static bubbles

We report on experiments of the quasi-static growth and detachment of air bubbles in water from a superhydrophobic substrate, overcoming the maximum size limitation of conventional injectors due to the Rayleigh–Taylor instability. The observations are in good agreement with a hydrostatic model, demonstrating that bubbles grow through a sequence of quasi-equilibrium states. Our experiments corroborate the theoretical prediction of a maximum bubble volume of approximately 6.04pi and a critical base radius of 3.22, both numbers in units of the capillary length (Michael &# Williams, Proc. R. Soc. Lond. A. vol. 351, 1976, pp. 117&;8211#127). This maximum is also reached when bubbles grow in an unbounded, ideally non-wetting surface, establishing the ultimate size limit of quasi-static bubble formation. This work has been supported by the Spanish MINECO under Projects DPI2017-88201-C3-2-R and DPI2017-88201-C3-3-R, partly financed through European funds, and by Universidad de Jaén Project Ref. 1263528 funded by Programa Operativo FEDER Andalucía 2014–2020. Get PDF
The place and the date of the Jerónimo de Cáncer’s birth have been questioned several times. This article tries to resolve some familiar data, specially those which are related to the emigration of the dramatist’s father Fadrique Cáncer and his wife, from Spain to isla Margarita. These facts can help us to deduce the data about the poet Jerónimo’s birth.

Discovery of lost genes in the genome of Acinetobacter baumannii using Anablast

Motivation: Microbial resistance to antibiotics is currently one of the greatest threats in global health. Multiple outbreaks of multi-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii strains have been documented [1] and it is necessary to find new drugs against it, and the finding of new genes in the bacteria could help in this fighting. As A. baumannii is a highly studied organism, it is difficult to find new genes by homology with traditional predictors. For this reason we have chosen the AnABlast program which is a new bioinformatics tool which has been successful in finding out new genes in eukaryotes. This program generates profiles of accumulated alignments in query amino acid sequences using a low-stringency BLAST strategy [2], which highlight regions with evolutionary meaning. Methods: First, we used AnAblast to locate new coding regions in the A. baumannii genome. After that we analyzed the regions found by AnABlast comparing them with known sequences from the GenBank database to look for the genes found in intergenic regions and we obtain a series of candidates that we need to analyze, characterize and validate. Results: We obtained nine candidates that have been characterized analyzing both its evolutionary conservation and function annotation. Eight of them were also found in other strains of A. baumannii and one could be a gene not found until now that needs to be validated. Conclusions: Using the AnABlast program we have found nine possible coding regions not detected by other methods in the reference strain of A. baumannii. Although they need validation, AnAblast has proven itself useful for gene detection in prokaryote

    Get PDF
The objective was to analyze the influence of the adoption of green technologies on environmental responsibility practices from the perspective of workers. For this purpose, a survey was applied to 385 workers of 74 hotels in Mexico City. Partial least squares structural equation modeling was used for data processing. The results show that environmental responsibility practices are supported by the adoption of green technologies according to the cost structure, resource savings, and the benefits they offer. The value of the work lies in exposing the perspective of workers as internal stakeholders of the companies.UAEME

Land abandonment as driver of woody vegetation dynamics in Tamaulipan thornscrub at Northeastern Mexico

Background: Vegetation structure is defined as the temporal and spatial distribution of plant species in a particular site. Vegetation structure includes vertical and horizontal distribution and has been widely used as an indicator of successional changes. Ecological succession plays an essential role in the determination of the mechanisms that structure plant communities under anthropogenic disturbances. After an anthropogenic disturbance, such as grazing, forests follow changes in the original composition and vegetation structure, which eventually could restore some of their attributes to become mature forests again. To know how the time of abandonment affects woody plant communities, we ask the following questions: (1) How does the species richness, diversity, and vertical structure (A index) change concerning the time of abandonment? (2) Are species similarities among woody vegetation communities determined by land abandonment? (3) Which woody species have the highest ecological importance in each successional stage? Methods: We explored how successional stages after land abandonment mediated the species richness, species diversity (alpha and beta), and ecological importance value index on four areas of Tamaulipan thornscrub. We selected four areas that differed in time of abandonment: 10, 20, 30, and >30 years. The first three areas were used for cattle grazing, whereas the >30-year area was selected as a control since it does not have a record of disturbance by cattle grazing or agriculture. During the summer of 2012, we randomly established four square plots (40 m × 40 m) in each area, separated at least 200 m from each other. In each plot, we recorded all woody individuals per species with a basal diameter ≥1 cm at 10 cm above ground level. We estimated species richness indices, species diversity (alpha and beta), and ecological importance value index. Results: We recorded 27 woody species belonging to 23 genera and 15 families. Fabaceae accounted for 40% of the species. Acacia farnesiana was the most important and abundant species in the first three successional stages. We suggested that older successional stages of Tamaulipan thornscrub promote woody plant communities, characterized by a higher complex structure than younger communities. We observed the highest species similarity between the sites with a closer time of abandonment, while the lowest similarity was shown between the sites with extreme time of abandonment. We conclude that Tamaulipan thornscrub shows a similar trend of ecological succession to other dry forests and the time of abandonment has a high mediation on plant dynamics in the Tamaulipan thornscrub. Also, we stand out the importance of secondary forests for Tamaulipan thornscrub woody plant communities. Finally, we recommended future studies include aspects of regeneration speed, the proximity of mature vegetation, and the interactions of plants with their seed dispersers.Eduardo Alanis aquired funding from Programa de Mejoramiento al Profesorado (PROMEP/103.5/12/3585).
