    Gender-Inclusivity Framework (GIF): A Conceptual Framework for Supporting Gender-Inclusivity in Games

    Despite the dramatic growth of gender and games research, many challenges remain in designing a more gender inclusive game. This research addresses the problem of how to support gender-inclusivity in games by incorporating theories in games and gender. Existing research in games and gender tend to focus on finding out how each gender plays and their preferences in games. However, there is little evidence that researchers have approached the issue of gender inclusivity in games with the intent of building a cohesive understanding of gender inclusivity in games and the relationships that exist between the different dimensions and components. Consequently, the aim of this research is to develop an integrative conceptual framework that can support gender inclusivity in games. The development of the Gender Inclusivity Framework (GIF) aimed to understand the makeup of gender inclusivity in games, how to define gender inclusivity in games and measure the level of gender inclusiveness in games. Drawing upon established theories and prior research findings, the proposed framework suggests that gender inclusivity in games can be determined by 3 dimensions: (1) gameplay, which describes the game behaviour and include non-violent action (NVA), game support (GS), forgiving gameplay (FG), non-violent challenge (NVC), feedback system (FS), variety of activities (ACT), personalization (PER) and collaboration (COLL); (2) content, that relates to the aesthetics elements of a game and consists of character/avatar portrayal (AVP), game world graphics (GW), sound/music (SM) and storyline (STOR) and; (3) genre, which categorizes games into twelve broad genres: racing, simulation, classic/board, strategy, sports, shooting, role playing game, platform, children, puzzle/quiz, action and adventure. Each dimension in the framework is divided into individual components that can be modified or further investigated in future studies. Each component in combination describes the dimension in terms that can be measured and evaluated in empirical studies. Hence, the combination of dimensions and components used to construct the framework provide the description of gender-inclusivity in games, which in turn is expected to predict the degree of gender-inclusiveness in games. For educators, GIF allows the identification of gender-inclusivity components in games so informed decisions can be made on how to evaluate and choose appropriate games for classroom activities. For researchers, GIF provides a common framework in which to conceptualize their research and make it easier to see how individual variables fit into the larger picture. For game designers, GIF enables deconstruction of the concept of gender inclusivity in games into smaller, conceptually distinct and manageable component to guide the design of gender inclusivity in games

    PENGARUH SUPLEMENTASI VITAMIN E (α-tokoferol) TERHADAP KADAR GAMMA GLUTAMIL TRANSFERASE (GGT) DAN KADAR NITRIC OXIDE (NO) PADA TIKUS

    Latar Belakang : Paparan benzene dapat menyebabkan stres oksidatif, diantaranya ditandai dengan peningkatan kadar GGT dan kadar NO. Vitamin E dapat mengurangi dan mencegah produksi radikal bebas. Reaktivitas hidrogen fenolik pada kelompok hidroksil α-tokoferol akan menstabilkan elektron tidak berpasangan pada radikal bebas. Tujuan : Membuktikan pengaruh suplementasi vitamin E terhadap kadar GGT dan kadar NO pada tikus jantan terpapar uap benzene. Metode : Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen pada binatang coba dengan rancangan post test only controlled group design. Sampel 35 ekor tikus strain wistar jantan dibagi secara random dalam enam kelompok yaitu kontrol negatif, kontrol positif dan empat kelompok perlakuan suplementasi vitamin E dosis bertingkat (X1 = 1,8 IU; X2 = 3,6 IU; X3 = 7,2 IU; dan X4 = 14,4 IU per hari untuk setiap 200 gram berat badan tikus). Setiap kelompok kecuali kontrol negatif dipapar 300 ppm uap benzene selama 2 minggu (6 hari/minggu, 6 jam/hari). Pengukuran kadar GGT menggunakan metoda Kinetik Colorimetric dan kadar NO menggunakan metoda Colorimetric Gries dilakukan pada setiap kelompok. Hasil : Suplementasi vitamin E berpengaruh menurunkan kadar GGT (p=0,0001). Pengaruh paparan benzene terhadap peningkatan kadar GGT dapat dicegah dengan baik pada dosis suplementasi vitamin E 14,4 IU/200gr BB tikus/hari. Suplementasi vitamin E tidak berpengaruh terhadap kadar NO. Simpulan : Ada pengaruh suplementasi vitamin E terhadap penurunan kadar GGT dan tidak ada pengaruh suplementasi vitamin E terhadap penurunan kadar NO

    Berdasarkan profil kesehatan Kota Tanjungpinang Tahun 2019 didapatkan bahwa AKI Kota Tanjungpinang lebih tinggi jika dibandingkan dengan AKI Provinsi Kepulauan Riau, dimana AKI Kota. Meningkatnya jumlah kehamilan risiko tinggi merupakan salah satu penyebab adanya kasus kematian ibu di Kota Tanjungpinang. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui hubungan pengetahuan, persepsi dan sikap terhadap kunjungan ANC pada ibu hamil risiko tinggi di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Sei Jang Tahun 2021. Penelitian ini merupakan survey analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi adalah ibu bersalin yang terdaftar dalam kohort ibu hamil risiko tinggi di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Sei Jang, dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 70 responden. Teknik yang digunakan adalah Total sampling. Pengambilan data menggunakan kuesioner. Analisis data meliputi univariat dan bivariat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terlihat (77,1%) responden berpengetahuan baik, (58,6%) responden memiliki persepsi positif, (88,6%) responden memiliki sikap positif. Hasil analisis bivariat menyatakan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara sikap responden terhadap perilaku kunjungan antenatal care dengan p-value = 0,000. Sedangkan, pengetahuan p-value = 0,072 dan persepsi p-value = 0,102 responden tidak memiliki hubungan yang signifikan terhadap perilaku kunjungan antenatal care. Pengetahuan dan persepsi ibu tidak memiliki hubungan, namun sikap ibu memiliki hubungan yang signifikan terhadap perilaku kunjungan antenatal care di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Sei Jang. Sistem pelayanan yang aman bagi ibu hamil, upaya promotif yang kreatif serta penyampaian yang mudah dipahami harapannya dapat menambah pengetahuan, persepsi dan sikap yang baik

    Human resource development and knowledge sharing practices among academicians in Malaysian Public Universities

    Knowledge sharing practices have been gaining much attention in organizations because of its contribution in optimizing organizations' competitiveness credibility. However, the lack of understanding in its process such as the content and contribution impedes knowledge sharing effectiveness. It has been argued that people management in knowledge management is important because knowledge is considerably personal. This study integrates Linstone's Multiple Perspectives Theory and Stewart's Human Resource Development Model into the framework of study. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the human resource development and knowledge sharing practices in public universities in Malaysia. The research adopts the mixed method sequential approach using survey and interview. Questionnaires were e-mailed to academicians in 20 universities, while semi-structured interviews were conducted with top management and policy makers. The quantitative study investigated current knowledge sharing practices and identified their relationships with knowledge sharing factors. A total of 725 academicians responded to the questionnaires. The qualitative study further described the issues and challenges that arise and dominant factors that explain knowledge sharing practices which are identified in this study. Statistical tests show that knowledge sharing level is moderately practiced by academicians. The organizational factor has the highest relationship (r= 0.819, p= 0.001) to knowledge sharing practices. The moderator effect tested in this research only moderates the relationship between technological factors and knowledge sharing practices. The main issues and challenges in knowledge sharing practices are voluntarism, social interaction and knowledge sharing gap. The knowledge sharing awareness is influenced by factors other than self-efficacy namely religion and nation culture. The human resource development's current practices has not placed much emphasis on informal ways of learning and formal policy for knowledge sharing practices is not yet developed. Theoretical contributions from the research include the development of a theoretical model of human resource development and knowledge sharing framework of Malaysian academicians. Methodologically, the research illustrates the effectiveness use of a mixed method approach within the positivist research paradigm. The research highlights the central importance sharing practices among academicians in Malaysian public universities

      Perpustakaan sekolah merupakan salah satu sarana pendidikan penunjang kegiatan belajar siswa yang memegang peranan sangat penting dalam memacu tercapainya tujuan pendidikan di sekolah. Peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah (1) wawancara mendalam, (2) observasi partisipan, (3) studi dokumentasi. Teknik untuk keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi.Hasil dan kesimpulan 1).Perencanaan perpustakaan sekolah dalam menunjang proses pembelajaran di MA Darussalam kumalasa harus memperhatikan fungsi perencanaan perpustakaan sekolah dengan baik, tanpa perencanaan yang matang dan menjadi standar kerja yang baik dalam proses pembelajaran. 2).Pelaksanaan perpustakaan sekolah di MA Darussalam kumalasa mengupayakan untuk lebih memberdayakan pengelolaan perpustakaan di lingkungan sekolah. menciptakan penguatan kelembagaan terhadap perpustakaan sekolah. 3)Proses evaluasidi MA Darussalam mencapai tujuan perpustakaan sekolah yang telah di rencanakan, pihak manajemen harus secara berkelanjutan memantau kinerja layanan dalam program kegiatan pengelolaan perpustakaan sekolah. 4) Pengelola perpustakaan bekerja sama dengan pihak lembaga dalam mengatasi Kendala–kendala yang dihadapi keterbatasan dana yang dimiliki untuk perpustakaan. 5) pengelola perpustakaan dan lembaga sudah melakukan upaya-upaya dengan baik untuk mengembangkan perpustakaan agar dapat menunjang proses pembelajaran siswa.Kata kunci: Pengelolaan Perpustakaan Sekolah, Proses Pembelajara

    Communication is a main process in a class. It involves a teacher as the main actor, students and environment. Barriers in communication will lead to ineffective communication process, which will subsequently affect the performance of a student in Mathematics. The variables from the aspect of a teacher used in this study were the preparation of subject contents, its delivery, interaction and personality. From the aspect of a student, the variables included basic skills, inter and intra personal communication whilst the environmental factor include the degree of comfort and classmates. This research is intended to identify the main communication barriers as perceived by the students, communication barriers and demographic factor which were related to students' performance and also identifying the main teaching media used by teachers. Respondents for this research were 296 form four and five students from five schools in Bangsar Zone, Kuala Lumpur. The analysis comprised of descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, ANOVA and T-Test. The findings of the research depicted that the main communication barriers were preparation of subject contents, interaction, basic skills, inter and intra personal communication and degree of comfort. All these factors were positively related. Race in the demographic factor differs significantly with students' performance whilst sex does not influence students' performance. The main teaching media used were the blackboard or white board

    Background: A vegan vegetarian is one of type indigenous vegetarians who only consume plant-based foods and its processed food products. Vegetarians tend to consume protein and iron less than RDA. Inadequate protein and iron consumption will lead to anemia. Women tend to have the highest risk for anemia, especially female adolescents.Subject: To describe protein and iron intake with HB levels in vegan vegetarian female adolescents of Indonesian Vegetarian Society (IVS) Pekanbaru.Methods: A descriptive study with cross-sectional design. The research was conducted from November 2018 to June 2019 at the secretariat of the Indonesian Vegetarian Society (IVS) Pekanbaru. The subjetcs were 22 female adolescents who were obtained by total sampling method. Hemoglobin levels were measured using easy touch GCU, dietary intake were obtained by food recall and calculated with the Nutrisurvey 2007.Result: The results showed the inadequate protein intake were 54.5%, inadequate iron intake were 68.2% and hemoglobin levels which classified as anemia were 63.63%.Conclusin: About 62.11% roespondents tend t have inadequate protein and iron intake and classified as anemia

    Factors Influencing the Implementation and Maintenance of ISO 9001:2000 Standard in Selected Organisations in Malaysia

    Awareness on the importance of quality and having a quality management system to improve organizational perfonnance has been emphasized through the work of many quality proponents. There is a growing awareness and acceptance of IS0 9000 quality management standards for establishing quality management system among organizations in Malaysia. The number of certified organizations increased from 2022 in 2003 to 3249 in 2005 (as at June 2005) and in 2004 there was an annual increase of 51.2% compared to 2003. The implementation and maintenance of a quality management system is important to satisfy customers' requirements and to ensure there is continuous improvement of the system. This study measures the influence of various factors such as organizational factors, motivational factors in obtaining certification and the perceived benefits on the ease of implementing and maintaining IS0 9001:2000 quality management system. The influence of motivation on perceived benefits was also examined. The survey was conducted on organizations that had obtained their IS0 9000 certification and were continuing with the implementation of the system with various certification bodies at the time of the study. The scope of thls research covered organizations in all economic sectors and industries listed in the statistics on IS0 9000 certification by the Department of Standards Malaysia. Hypotheses were tested using ANOVA in the Statistical Package for Social Solutions (SPSS) version 13.0 and path analysis in the LISREL 8.72. The findings revealed that corrective and preventive actions are among the critical issues or factors in the maintenance of an IS0 9000 system. Results also showed that there are significant differences in ease of implementation among the industrial sectors. The path analysis showed that there is a positive relationship between internally perceived benefits and the ease of implementation and maintenance. It was also established that motivation is a significant predictor which influences the benefits gained. It was also revealed that the motivation for obtaining IS0 9001:2000 certifications seemed to be more internally-driven. Large percentage of respondents agreed that motivation comes from internal factors such as the need to improve internal operation, products, system and processes. As in many previous studies, the most important benefits were mostly from internal factors such as improved internal procedures or documentation and increase in quality awareness among employees. IS0 9000 has provided a platform for a consistent organization-wide approach to continual improvement
