Estudio del poder inhibidor de los cromatos por técnicas potenciostática y galvanostática

La velocidad de corrosión de los metales puede ser reducida modificando las condiciones del medio agresivo. Esto puede lograrse mediante el agregado de inhibidores, que en bajas concentraciones disminuyen efectivamente la velocidad de corrosión. Los cromatos pertenecen a los denominados inhibidores anódicos o pasivantes. Mediante el trazado de curvas de polarización por las técnicas potenciostática y galvanostática, se determinaron umbrales de protección para los sistemas cromato—pH y cromato— pH-cloruro. Se hallaron las concentraciones críticas de cromato que aseguran la protección del sistema en función de la concentración de H+ en un caso y de Cl en el otro.There are several ways to reduce the corrosion rate of metals. One of them is to modify the conditions of the me-' dium. This may be done by adding substances which retard the corrosion process. This substances are called inhibitors. The chromates are widely used in cooling systems, steam boilers, etc. In this study, there have been determined protection levels for the chromate-pH and chromate-pH-chloride systems by means of polarization curves traced by the potenciostatic method and with a rapid galvanostatic test. Evaluación del poder inhibidor de pigmentos por medio de técnicas electroquímicas

Las características inhibidoras de los pigmentos anticorrosivos dependen, en algunos casos, de su aptitud para aportar al medio agresivo iones inhibidores de la corrosión. Si ello ocurre, es posible realizar una evaluación de esas propiedades ensayando suspensiones acuosas de los pigmentos. Se han obtenido, mediante técnicas electroquímicas (tranzado de curvas de polarización por vía potenciocinética y un ensayo rápido de pulsos galvanostáticos), respuestas diferenciadas para los distintos pigmentos ensayados« Los resultados que se presentan, a los que puede asignarse valor semicuantitativo, están de acuerdo con las características de composición y de solubilidad de dichos materiales.The passivating properties of the pigments employed in anticorrosion paint formulations, are partially related with their ability to bring soluble ions. Working with aqueous suspentions of those materials, we have obtained the polarization curves by a potentiokinetic method, a we have used a rapid test by galvanostatic pulses. Comportamiento de películas de pintura en medio acuoso

Se caracterizan las propiedades físicas y eléctricas de la película de pintura aislada del sustrato metálico o adherida al mismo, actuando en calidad de membrana semipermeable* Se evalúa así el efecto de "barrera" de la misma en lo que respecta a la conductividad eléctrica y transferencia de iones. Se han efectuado medidas de conductividad y de permeabilidad sobre la película aislada y de resistencia y capacidad en el aire y en el agua sobre probetas pintadas. Se realizan diferentes consideraciones acerca de la aplicación práctica de los métodos estudiados.The physical and electrical properties of paint films applied to a metallic substrate or isolated from it, acting as a semi-permeable membrane have been established. Evaluation of its "barrier" effect with regard to electrical conductivity and ions1 transference has been considered. Measurements of conductivity and permeability of the membrane and measurements of the capacity and resistance in the air and water on painted panels have been effectuated. Some considerations about practical applications of those methods are also included

Metronomic chemotherapy: changing the paradigm that more is better

The introduction of the “maximum tolerated dose” in usual treatment protocols (and its concomitant overt toxicity) made necessary the imposition of rest periods between cycles of therapy—a practice that not only involves re-growth of tumour cells, but also growth of selected clones resistant to the therapy. To avoid the problems caused by traditional chemotherapeutic regimens, a new modality of drug administration called “metronomic chemotherapy” has been proposed. This name makes reference to the chronic, equally spaced administration of (generally) low doses of various chemotherapeutic drugs without extended rest periods. The novelty of this treatment modality lies not only in its antitumour efficacy with very low toxicity, but also in a cell target switch, now aiming at tumour endothelial cells. The knowledge acquired in the experimental field of metronomic chemotherapy, plus the increasing experience that is being obtained in the clinical setting, will help to lead a change in the design of therapeutic protocols against cancer

Estudio sobre inhibidores de corrosión

En el estudio realizado sobre el poder inhibidor de los cromatos, se determinaron umbrales de protección, es decir, las concentraciones críticas de inhibidor que aseguran la protección de los sistemas considerados. El objeto de este trabajo es deducir, a partir de los datos experimentales hallados en el estudio de los sistemas cromato-pH y cromato-pH-cloruro, expresiones generales que interpreten el comportamiento de cada una de las especies que constituyen el medio en circunstancias de corrosión. Se indican, además, la metodología de la realización experimental y el mecanismo de resolución de las ecuaciones.lIn a previous work, the protection levels of chromates were determined as a function of pH and pH—chloride systems. The finality of this study is to deduce by means of the practical data then obtained, general expressions to interpret the behaviour of each species in the corrosive medium. It is also indicated the metodology of the experimental realization and the mechanism for the resolution of the ecuations

Compatibilidad de revestimientos de pintura con protección catódica por corriente impresa

Los sistemas de pintura empleados conjuntamente con protección catódica por corriente impresa, deben tener compatibilidad química, eléctrica y electroquímica. Se diseñó un modelo de laboratorio tentativo a fin de determinar tales aspectos, en condiciones estáticas y dinámicas, y se prepararon una serie de electrodos los cuales fueron pintados con diferentes formulaciones anticorrosivas. Se trata de establecer, para cada una de ellas, el rango de corrientes comprendido entre el umbral o valor mínimo por debajo del cual se produce deterioro del metal de base, y el valor máximo que resiste el revestimiento de pintura sin ampollarse o separarse del sustrato metálico.The paint systems employed jointly with cathodic protection must have chemical, electric and electrochemical compatibility. An experimental model was made up to determine such aspects in static and dynamic conditions. A series of electrodes painted with different anticorrosive formulations were also prepared. The purpose of this research is to establish for each of them the rank of currents between the minimum value, under which there is a deterioration in the metal and the maximum value, which indicates the limit of the paint film resistance, before blistering or separation of the coat from the metallic substrate

Estudio de laboratorio de la susceptibilidad a la corrosión intergranular del cinc y su relación con el contenido de aluminio

A method of test for determining the susceptibility of zinc to the intergranular corrosion was developped, considering that the action of water steam on zinc produces the mentioned type of corrosion. Local and foreing specimens have been studied. In the suscep- tibies specimens, the sign of intergranular corrosion, characterized by visual and micrographic observations, appears after 30 h exposition. Correlation between susceptibility and aluminium content was established: 0,005 $ of aluminium in laminated zinc was the maximum content in order to avoid corrosion.Se ideó un método de ensayo para, determinar la susceptibilidad del cinc a la corrosión intergranular, teniendo en cuenta que el ataque con vapor de agua provoca en el cinc ese tipo corrosión. Se ensayaron probetas de origen nacional y extranjero. En las muestras susceptibles,los signos, de corrosión intergranular — que fueron caracterizados mediante observaciones visuales y micrográficas -r aparecieron después de las 30, horas de exposición. Se estableció una correlación entre esa susceptibilidad y él contenido de aluminio, y se fijó como contenido máximo de aluminio en -cinc laminado el de 0,005 %

O uso da técnica Delphi como alternativa metodológica para a área da Ciência da Informação

This study deals with the Delphi Technique, which is one of the socalled Specialist Methods, as a method of research in Information Science. It explains the special features of the technique and presents the advantages and disadvantages of the use of the method, its characteristics, terminology and steps. The research also deals with the ways in which Delphi can be outlined, suggesting the Policy Delphi as the most suitable to be used in this field. The study comments on the instrument used to collect data – the questionnaire, and clarifies some questions regarding the group of experts that constitute the subjects of the research. It concludes illustrating the use of the Delphi Technique in Information Sciences and suggesting that it be used as an alternative research method in this field.Este artigo discorre sobre a técnica Delphi, que se inclui dentro dos chamados Métodos Especialistas, como método de pesquisa na Ciência da Informação, explanando as particularidades da técnica. Apresenta-se as vantagens e desvantagens do uso do método, suas características, terminologia e etapas, também abordando as formas que o Delphi pode ser configurado, sugerindo o Delphi de Políticas como o mais adequado à área. Comenta-se ainda sobre o instrumento de coleta de dados característico – o questionário. O estudo também esclarece questões sobre o painel de especialistas que compõem os sujeitos da pesquisa, e conclui ilustrando a aplicação da técnica Delphi na Ciência da Informação e sugerindo-a como método de investigação alternativo para a área
