Biotransformation of ent-beyerenes with mucor plumbeus

Indexación: Web of Science; Scielo.ABSTRACT The microbiological transformation of ent-beyer-15-en-18-ol 1 and ent-beyer-15-en-19-ol 2, using Mucorplumbeus, resulted in hydroxylated products. After nine days of incubation, 15β,16β-epoxide-ent-beyeran-7β,18-diol 3, ent-beyer-15-en-7p,19-diol 4 and 15β,16β-epoxide-ent-beyeran-7β,19-diol 5 were isolated. Video Mapping

The aim of this thesis is to establish a solid base for the eventual realisation of a Video Mapping event on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the UPC and the ETSETB. A Video Mapping, or Projection Mapping, is an audiovisual technique that uses any kind of surface to project animation based or real footage visual content on them to make an impact on the viewer. The project consists of a necessary theoretical basis of such audiovisual technique, a presentation of the conditioning factors and a final proposal I make, which takes into consideration everything previously mentioned, for carrying out the project.El objetivo de esta tesis es establecer una base teórica sólida para la realización eventual de un Video Mapping con motivo del 50 aniversario de la UPC y la ETSETB. Un Video Mapping, o Projection Mapping, es una técnica audiovisual que utiliza cualquier tipo de superficie para proyectar contenido visual con una narrativa basado en animación o material real para impactar al espectador. El proyecto consiste en la exposición de una base teórica necesaria de dicha técnica audiovisual, una presentación de los factores técnicos condicionantes y una propuesta final que hago, que tiene en cuenta todo lo mencionado anteriormente, para llevar a cabo el proyectoL'objectiu d'aquesta tesi es establir una base teorica solida per a la realitzacio eventual d'un Video Mapping amb motiu de l'50 aniversari de la UPC i l'ETSETB. Rendiment i lecturabilitat tipogràfica a la premsa escrita : l'evolució del disseny de les tipografies de premsa, entre la preocupació per l'espai i la comoditat de lectura

S'entén per rendiment tipogràfic la capacitat que té una font per reproduir el màxim nombre de matrius en el mínim espai possible. Aquest concepte no es pot deslligar d'un altre, la lecturabilitat o readability, que es defineix com la capacitat de llegir textos en diaris, revistes o llibres durant temps prolongats, amb el mínim esforç visual. Per tant, rendiment i lecturabilitat conformen una difícil equació, la resolució de la qual ens permetrà encabir el màxim nombre de matrius tipogràfiques en el mínim espai possible, sense dificultar la comoditat de la lectura. L'equilibri entre els dos pols d'aquesta equació és el que han perseguit el dissenyadors de tipografies per a premsa durant els últims cent anys. Les primeres dècades del segle passat els tipògrafs van lluitar per aconseguir lletres el més netes i clares possible. Després, sobretot a partir de la Times de Stanley Morison, la cerca d'un rendiment òptim ha estat una de les divises, donant la màxima claredat, sobretot, a l'espai interior de les lletres o contraforma. Les fonts de la Mergenthaler Linotype Company, els treballs de Dwiggins, pare de la fórmula M, o les creacions de Gerard Unger, amb la seva coneguda Gulliver, són algunes de les fites en la cerca de l'equilibri entre rendiment i lecturabilitat.Typographic efficiency refers to the capacity of a font to reproduce the maximum number of matrixes in the least amount of space possible. This concept is inextricably involved with. another: readability, which is defined as the ease with which texts can be understood in mewspapers, magazines, or books for a prolonged period with minimum visual effort. Consequently, efficiency and readability are components of a difficult equation, the resolution of which allows for the maximum number of typographic matrixes in the least possible space, without jeopardizing ease in reading. The balance between the two poles of this equation is what typography designers in journalism have strugged with for the last hundred years. During the first decades of the 20th century, typographers worked to achieve the cleanest, clearest letterforms possible. Subsequently, especially in the case of The Times of Stanley Morison, optimal efficiency became emblematic while also providing maximum clarity, especially in the interior space(s) of each letterform and counterform. The fonts of teh Mergenthaler Linotype Company (including yhe work of Dwiggins, father of he M formula) and Gerard Ungers renowned font, Gulliver, exemplify milestones in the search for a balance between efficiency and readability

Intraoperative Radiation Therapy in Gynecological Cancer

Gynecological malignancies, mainly cervical uterine cancer, continue to present a high number of pelvic and para-aortic recurrences. Intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) allows a precise therapeutic boost in the surgical bed in the cases in which removal of the tumor relapse is feasible. At the same time, IORT permits the exclusion of the radiosensitive organs from the irradiation field. While the first published gynecological IORT took place in 1905, the number of patients per year became stable and the published series are retrospective and limited. Recurrences are located in different areas with non-homogeneous prognostic and most of the published manuscripts are retrospective including a mix of primaries, sites and different types and results of salvage surgery. We have revised the present knowledge in this field and the main conclusion is that IORT increases the local control and, in selected cases, probably slightly the survival. Also, the quality of life is probably increased. Randomized trials that allow a breakthrough in the conclusions are highly unlikely to be performed in recurrent gynecological malignancies
