    Employment is about more than simply earning a paycheck - it influences quality of life, independence, and wellness. Historically, employment outcomes for adults with autism are poor. The U.S. Vocational Rehabilitation system (VR) is designed to provide support to states for implementation of services to assist people with disabilities to prepare for, find, and keep employment. VR data allow us to examine some outcomes for those with autism compared to their peers.To make a difference, research must reach those who need it. The National Autism Indicators Report series presents our research findings in a clearly communicated, open-access, online format to speed the delivery of information to decision-makers while maintaining very high standards of scientific credibility

We analyzed data from "The National Longitudinal Transition Study-2" and "The Survey of Pathways to Diagnosis and Services" to examine the service needs and life outcomes of adolescents and young adults on the autism spectrum.     Strain versus stress in a model granular material: a Devil's staircase

    The series of equilibrium states reached by disordered packings of rigid, frictionless discs in two dimensions, under gradually varying stress, are studied by numerical simulations. Statistical properties of trajectories in configuration space are found to be independent of specific assumptions ruling granular dynamics, and determined by geometry only. A monotonic increase in some macroscopic loading parameter causes a discrete sequence of rearrangements. For a biaxial compression, we show that, due to the statistical importance of such events of large magnitudes, the dependence of the resulting strain on stress direction is a Levy flight in the thermodynamic limit.Comment: REVTeX, 4 pages, 5 included PostScript figures.     Emergence of Quintet Superfluidity in the Chain of Partially Polarized Spin-3/2 Ultracold Atom

    The system of ultracold atoms with hyperfine spin F=3/2F=3/2 might be unstable against the formation of quintet pairs if the interaction is attractive in the quintet channel. We have investigated the behavior of correlation functions in a model including only s-wave interactions at quarter filling by large-scale density-matrix renormalization-group simulations.     Development of T Lymphocytes in the Nasal-associated Lymphoid Tissue (NALT) from Growing Wistar Rats

    The aim of the present report was to study the development of several T-lymphocyte subsets in the nasal-associated lymphoid tissue (NALT) of growing Wistar rats. CD5+ and CD4+ lymphocytes gradually increased with age. A predominance of CD8α+ over CD4+ T cells was found from 7 to 45 days but from 45 to 60 days of age T helper cells outnumbered the cytotoxic subpopulation. The majority of CD8+ T lymphocytes expressed the heterodimeric isoform. The most relevant findings by immunohistochemistry are: (1) the predominance of TCRγΎ+ and CD8α+ cells at 7 days postpartum over all the other T-cell subpopulations; and (2) that TCRÎłÎČ+ outnumbered TCRαÎČ+ T cells from 7 to 45 days postpartum whereas αÎČ T cells predominated in 45- and 60-day-old rats. Besides, cytometric studies have shown that the percentages of TCRÎł+, CD8+, as well as the population coexpressing both phenotypes (TCRγΎ+CD8α+), were significantly higher in rats at 7 days postpartum when compared to 60 day-old rats. In the present study, the finding of a high number of γΎ+ and CD8+ T cells early in NALT development may indicate the importance of these subpopulations in the protection of the nasal mucosa in suckling and weaning Wistar rats

    Force distribution in a scalar model for non-cohesive granular material

    We study a scalar lattice model for inter-grain forces in static, non-cohesive, granular materials, obtaining two primary results. (i) The applied stress as a function of overall strain shows a power law dependence with a nontrivial exponent, which moreover varies with system geometry. (ii) Probability distributions for forces on individual grains appear Gaussian at all stages of compression, showing no evidence of exponential tails.     In this paper we consider the Schr\"odinger operator in R3{\mathbb R}^3 with a long-range magnetic potential associated to a magnetic field supported inside a torus T{\mathbb{T}}. Using the scheme of smooth perturbations we construct stationary modified wave operators and the corresponding scattering matrix S(λ)S(\lambda). We prove that the essential spectrum of S(λ)S(\lambda) is an interval of the unit circle depending only on the magnetic flux ϕ\phi across the section of T\mathbb{T}. Additionally we show that, in contrast to the Aharonov-Bohm potential in R2{\mathbb{R}}^2, the total scattering cross-section is always finite.
