Literature points out the role of parenting on adolescent cyberbullying involvement. However, it is necessary to clarify how gender affects this relationship. The aim of this study has been to examine the relation between the adolescents’ perception about parenting practices, and their involvement in cyberbullying, bearing in mind both girls’ and boys’ gender and progenitors’ gender. The sample comprised 2060 Spanish secondary school students (47.9% girls; Mage = 14.34). Two-way ANOVA and binary logistic regression analyses were carried out. An effect of the interaction between sex and cyberbullying roles in maternal affection and communication, inductive discipline, and psychological control, as well as paternal promotion of autonomy and psychological control, was found. In general, it can be observed that the more negative results were found in cyber-aggressors, especially when this role is assumed by girls. The results of logistic regression analysis suggest that parenting practices explain better cyberbullying involvement in girls compared to boys, finding some important differences between both sexes regarding protective and risk factors. These findings highlight the importance of parenting practices to explain cyberbullying involvement, which supports the necessity of including family among the addresses of intervention programs.

Projecting the impacts of climate change on wheat yields in the UK and Germany and assessing modeling uncertainties

Climate change and variability are projected to negatively affect wheat production in Europe. The impacts of climate change are typically projected using global and regional climate models (GCMs and RCMs) and impact assessment tools such as crop models. However, this impact simulation chain can propagate uncertainty, as errors are introduced by GCMs, RCMs, and crop models. There are also many intermediate steps and decisions in the impact simulation process that are influenced by the different communities of practice that utilize climate and crop models. These differences in methods and approaches can also influence the range of future yield projections. Yield projections are thus considered inherently uncertain because of this cascade of uncertainty. This interdisciplinary study projects the impacts of climate change on wheat yields in the UK and Germany, two key wheat-growing countries. Added value is found when using RCMs for downscaling temperature and precipitation simulations for the impact assessment. However, these GCM-RCM simulations are shown to have significant errors relative to observations, necessitating a bias correction (BC) step. Different BC methods are shown to be effective in improving simulations. Two BC calibration approaches, one that corrects RCM-only error and the other GCM-RCM error, are used to examine how different GCM-RCM combinations can affect projected changes in climate. Future climate projections are used in a multi-method crop modeling approach, and the uncertainty in the resulting yield projections is analyzed. Key findings are that wheat yields in the UK and Germany will be affected by changes in temperature and precipitation. However, these impacts are shown to be region-dependent and vary based on the crop modeling method, making the choice of crop modeling method a major contributor to uncertainty

Aggressive Driving Behaviours in Cannabis Users. The Influence of Consumer Characteristics

    Get PDF
This study analysed dangerous driving behaviours in twenty young occasional cannabis users through objective and self-reported data, studying the relationship between the two aspects. Visual function was assessed in a baseline session and after smoking cannabis, as well as speed-related behaviour in a driving simulator. The participants responded to questionnaires on sociodemographic factors, their consumption profile, and the incidence of dangerous behaviours (Dula Dangerous Driving Index; DDDI). After cannabis use, the results revealed a significant deterioration in visual function. In terms of speed management, they showed significantly greater acceleration force in the two different sections of the route, and they drove significantly faster. Our correlations indicate that males and heavier users display more risky speed management. Likewise, the heavier cannabis users admitted to increased dangerous driving behaviour, and an accident in the preceding year was associated with a trend towards aggressive driving behaviour according to the DDDI questionnaire. The findings of this study suggest that cannabis users adopt dangerous behaviours when driving, despite the effect this drug has on certain important functions, such as vision. The results suggest a need for awareness-raising and information campaigns

Aim: To review the available evidence to show the relationship between glycemic control, cognitive function and executive functions in the AM with T2D.Methods: The literature search was conducted in English and Spanish, in 14 databases, Open Access, and the Google search engine. Based on the model proposed by Cooper (2007), for the synthesis of the literature. The studies were assessed for validity through CASPe guide for case-control studies. Results: We analyzed correlation 11estudies 100% of the studies showed glycemic control relationship to cognitive impairment and executive function in AM with DT2. Studies agree that the AM with DT2 have cognitive impairment, compared with AM without DT2, therefore there is a deficit in the AM to perform executive functions. Conclusions: Based on the available evidence there is a significant relationship in glycemic control and cognitive impairment in the AM with DT2, also a lower performance in functional mobility and verbal fluency.

Diminutive and Nominal Aspect in Spanish

This paper addresses the issue of diminutives in Spanish and how the nominal aspect influences their formation as well as the values they can assume. The analysis provides evidence that Spanish has two resources to create a diminutive from a noun; first, the suffix -it, called morphological, which can be applied to any kind of name and can be used to diminish concrete countable nouns both objectively and subjectively; while the second, the morphosyntactic resource, which adds the same suffix to the nominal head of a bounded phrase —a characteristic of mass nouns—, is more flexible concerning the semantic effects it can produce.http://revistahumanidades.unab.cl/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/A7.-CASTILLO-ORTIZ.pd
