Se presenta y discute, en el contexto de la Ilustración escocesa, la relación entre Ilustración y progreso en David Hume. Se afirma que las ideas de Hume en torno al progreso, aunque similares a las de otros de sus contemporáneos, se caracterizan por una sobria concepción de la acción humana en la historia. La filosofía política y social de Hume propone una interesante filosofía crítica de la historia y el progreso, evitando los indeseables extremos de la ingenuidad y el pesimismo.The relationship between Enlightenment and progress in David Hume is presented and discussed in the context of the Scottish Enlightenment. It is asserted that Hume’s thoughts on progress, although similar to those exposed by some of his contemporaries, are characterized by a sober conception of human action on history. Hume’s political and social philosophy proposes an interesting critical philosophy of history and progress, avoiding the undesirable extremes of naïveté and pessimis

Se presentan y discuten críticamente las opiniones de Karl Popper acerca de la tecnología. Primero se estudia la relación establecida por Popper entre ciencia básica, ciencia aplicada y tecnología, y se hacen de paso algunas aclaraciones conceptuales. Luego se examina el lugar de la tecnología en el marco de la filosofía popperiana de la sociedad y la historia. Finalmente se destacan algunos problemas en relación con la teoría popperiana de los “tres mundos” y el lugar de la tecnología en ella.Karl Popper’s views regarding modern technology are presented and critically discussed. Firstly, the relationship established by Popper among basic science, applied science and technology is studied and some conceptual clarifications are made. Secondly, the place of technology in the framework of the Popperian philosophy of history and society is examined. Se discuten algunos aspectos de la interrelación entre autoficcionalidad, metaficcionalidad y búsqueda de la espiritualidad en dos textos del escritor uruguayo Jorge Mario Varlotta Levrero (1940–2004), mejor conocido por su nombre literario: ‘Mario Levrero’. En estos escritos, de fuerte carácter autobiográfico y autorreflexivo, se advierte la necesidad de emprender un proceso de autodescubrimiento y autoanálisis, y también la urgencia de recuperar una espiritualidad en crisis. Viability analysis of infrastructure managers for the automated deployment of virtual HPC clusters on Cloud environments

Due to the increase of hybrid environments and the rise of Cloud resources in the IT sector, we have also seen an increase in the complexity of the administration we face today. Today, more than ever, automation tools are needed to facilitate not only the creation but also the management of these new environments. The lack of standardization, especially for HPC systems, forces us to present a proposal to evaluate the different tools that claim to facilitate the automation of this type of systems in Cloud environments and a subsequent analysis of them. In this Master's Thesis we will discover the importance of Cloud environments in HPC systems, the challenges that this presents and an analysis methodology that will serve as a reference for administrators and IT professionals who need to manage such complex and dynamic environments as HPC clusters in Cloud environments.Debido al aumento de entornos híbridos y al auge de los recursos Cloud en el sector IT, se ha podido observar también un incremento en la complejidad de administración de los mismos. Hoy más que nunca son necesarias las herramientas de automatización que faciliten no sólo la creación sino también la gestión de estos nuevos entornos. La falta de estandarización especialmente para los sistemas HPC fuerza a presentar una propuesta de evaluación de las distintas herramientas que presumen de facilitar la automatización de este tipo de sistemas en entornos Cloud y un posterior análisis sobre las mismas. En este Trabajo Final de Master descubriremos la importancia de los entornos Cloud en los sistemas HPC, los retos que ello presenta y una metodología de análisis que sirva de referencia para administradores y profesionales del sector TI que se vean en la necesidad de gestionar entornos tan complejos y dinámicos como los clústeres HPC en entornos Cloud

The last five years of Big Data Research in Economics, Econometrics and Finance: Identification and conceptual analysis

Today, the Big Data term has a multidimensional approach where five main characteristics stand out: volume, velocity, veracity, value and variety. It has changed from being an emerging theme to a growing research area. In this respect, this study analyses the literature on Big Data in the Economics, Econometrics and Finance field. To do that, 1.034 publications from 2015 to 2019 were evaluated using SciMAT as a bibliometric and network analysis software. SciMAT offers a complete approach of the field and evaluates the most cited and productive authors, countries and subject areas related to Big Data. Lastly, a science map is performed to understand the intellectual structure and the main research lines (themes)
