Integration of the kenzo system within sagemath for new algebraic topology computations

    Get PDF
This work integrates the Kenzo system within Sagemath as an interface and an optional package. Our work makes it possible to communicate both computer algebra programs and it enhances the SageMath system with new capabilities in algebraic topology, such as the computation of homotopy groups and some kind of spectral sequences, dealing in particular with simplicial objects of an infinite nature. The new interface allows computing homotopy groups that were not known before

I., Rodríguez Guitián M. A. & Rubinos M. 2004. Addenda to the pteridophyte catalogue of Galicia (NW of Iberian Peninsula). Bot. Complut. 28: 51-55 (2004). This paper comments on the distribution and ecology of six species of rare/threatened ferns in the northwest Iberian Peninsula, including two species of the genus Isoetes not previously recorded from this region. New locations are also reported for other pteridophytes with fragmented distribution or listed in the Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC (Annex II), namely Stegnogramma pozoi, Vandenboschia speciosa, and Culcita macrocarpa

By means of petrographic, diffractometric, spectrographic and chemical detailed analysis of eight rock samples from Iza igneous body, was established the presence of alkaline rock series of rhyolitic composition that show a 7.8 to 12% and -0.8% of Na2O. These rocks are the result of a originally K2O rich magma, which later on had a strong potassic metasomatism and strong hydrothermal alteration according to these results. In Silico Design and Selection of New Tetrahydroisoquinoline-Based CD44 Antagonist Candidates

CD44 promotes metastasis, chemoresistance, and stemness in different types of cancer and is a target for the development of new anti-cancer therapies. All CD44 isoforms share a common N-terminal domain that binds to hyaluronic acid (HA). Herein, we used a computational approach to design new potential CD44 antagonists and evaluate their target-binding ability. By analyzing 30 crystal structures of the HA-binding domain (CD44HAbd), we characterized a subdomain that binds to 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline (THQ)-containing compounds and is adjacent to residues essential for HA interaction. By computational combinatorial chemistry (CCC), we designed 168,190 molecules and compared their conformers to a pharmacophore containing the key features of the crystallographic THQ binding mode. Approximately 0.01% of the compounds matched the pharmacophore and were analyzed by computational docking and molecular dynamics (MD). We identified two compounds, Can125 and Can159, that bound to human CD44HAbd (hCD44HAbd) in explicit-solvent MD simulations and therefore may elicit CD44 blockage. These compounds can be easily synthesized by multicomponent reactions for activity testing and their binding mode, reported here, could be helpful in the design of more potent CD44 antagonists

The Respiratory Exchange Ratio is Associated with Fitness Indicators Both in Trained and Untrained Men: A Possible Application for People with Reduced Exercise Tolerance

Background The respiratory exchange ratio (RER) indirectly shows the muscle's oxidative capacity to get energy. Sedentarism, exercise and physically active lifestyles modify it. For that reason, this study evaluates the associations between RER during sub-maximum exercise and other well established fitness indicators (body fat, maximum heart rate, maximum O 2 uptake, workload, and lactate threshold), in physically active trained and untrained men. Methods The RER, O 2 uptake and blood lactate were measured in eight endurance trained and eight untrained men (age, 22.9 ± 4.5 vs. 21.9 ± 2.8 years; body mass, 67.1 ± 5.4 vs. 72.2 ± 7.7 kg; body fat, 10.6 ± 2.4% vs. 16.6 ± 3.8% and maximum O2 uptake, 68.9 ± 6.3 vs. 51.6 ± 5.8 ml · kg −1 · min −1 ), during maximum exercise test and during three different sub-maximum exercises at fixed workload: below, within or above the lactate threshold. Results Endurance trained men presented higher O 2 uptake, lower blood lactate concentrations and lower RER values than those in untrained men at the three similar relative workloads. Even though with these differences in RER, a strong association (p < 0.05) of RER during sub-maximum exercise with the other well established fitness indicators was observed, and both maximum O 2 uptake and lactate threshold determined more than 57% of its variance (p < 0.05). Conclusions These data demonstrate that RER measurement under sub-maximum exercise conditions was well correlated with other established physical fitness indicators, despite training condition. Furthermore, the results suggest that RER could help obtain an easy approach of fitness status under low exercise intensity and could be utilized in subjects with reduced exercise tolerance

Capítulo de libroAn O(m + n) time algorithm is presented for counting the number of models of a two Conjunctive Normal Form Boolean Formula whose constrained graph is represented by a Series-Parallel graph, where n is the number of variables and m is the number of clauses. To the best of our knowledge, no linear time algorithm has been developed for counting in this kind of formulas

We include data on the distribution and current status of a number of native taxa that are threatened at the Iberian level (e.g. Hydrocharis morsus-ranae) or European level (e.g. Rumex rupestris)

Two-Dimensional Time-Domain Antenna Arrays for Optimum Steerable Energy Pattern with Low Side Lobes

    Get PDF
This document presents the synthesis of different two-dimensional time-domain antenna arrays for steerable energy patterns with side lobe levels. The research is focused on the uniform and nonuniform distributions of true-time exciting delays and positions of antenna elements. The uniform square array, random array, uniform concentric ring array, and rotated nonuniform concentric ring array geometries are particularly studied. These geometries are synthesized by using the well-known sequential quadratic programming. The synthesis regards the optimal true-time exciting delays and optimal positions of pulsed antenna elements. The results show the capabilities of the different antenna arrays to steer the beam in their energy pattern in time domain and how their performance is in frequency domain after the synthesis in time domain
