Nodal Superconducting Order Parameter and Thermodynamic Phase Diagram of (TMTSF)2ClO4

    Get PDF
The organic materials (TMTSF)2X are unique unconventional superconductors with archetypal quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) electronic structures. Here, based on our comprehensive field-angle-resolved calorimetry of (TMTSF)2ClO4, we succeeded in mapping the nodal gap structure for the first time in Q1D systems, by discriminating between the Fermi wavevectors and Fermi velocities. In addition, the thermodynamic phase diagrams of (TMTSF)2ClO4 for all principal field directions are obtained. These findings, providing strong evidence of nodal spin-singlet superconductivity, serves as solid bases for further elucidation of anomalous superconducting phenomena in (TMTSF)2X.Comment: 7 pages, 7 figures, including Supplemental Information added at the end of the manuscrip

Les traitements non médicamenteux de la constipation pour augmenter la qualité de vie en EMS: revue de littérature

    Get PDF

Post infectious IBS: defining its clinical features and prognosis using an internet-based survey

    Get PDF
Background: Gastrointestinal infection is an important risk factor for developing IBS. Our aim was to characterise postinfectious IBS (PI-IBS) compared to other IBS patients. Methods: An internet survey of IBS patients using Rome III diagnostic questionnaire, Hospital Anxiety & Depression Scale (HADS) and Patient Health Questionnaire-12 somatic symptom score (PHQ12-SS) documenting the mode of onset. Results: 7811 participants, 63.2% female of whom 1004 (13.3%) met criteria for PI-IBS. 70% of PI-IBS described sudden onset, 35% onset while travelling, 49.6% vomiting, 49.9 fever and 20.3% bloody diarrhoea. Compared to other IBS, PI-IBS was significantly associated with living in Northern Europe and North America, having a hysterectomy, not having an appendectomy, higher PHQ12-SS score and having more than one toilet in the family home. PI-IBS patients had more frequent stools. At 1 year recovery rate in PI-IBS and non-PI-IBS group was 19.7% and 22.2%, p=0.15. Recovery rates were lower for females (20.7%) versus males (38.8%), those with somatisation ( 23.0%) versus those without (33.2%) and living in North America or Northern Europe (21.1%) versus living elsewhere (33.9%) p=<0.001. Conclusion: PI-IBS accounts for around 13% of all IBS in this internet sample, with some distinctive features but a similar prognosis to the remainder

Non-perturbatively Improved Heavy-Light Mesons: Masses and Decay Constants

    Get PDF
We present a study of the heavy-light spectrum and of the D- and B-meson decay constants. The results wer e obtained in the quenched approximation, by using the non-perturbatively improved Clover lattice action at beta=6.2, with a sample of 100 configurations, on a 24^3 x 64 lattice. After a careful analysis of th e systematic errors present in the extraction of the physical results, by assuming quite conservative discretization errors, we find f_Ds=231 +/- 12^{+6}_{-1} MeV, f_D = 211 +/- 14^{+0}_{-12} MeV, f_Ds/f_D=1.10(2), f_Bs = 204 +/- 16^{+28}_{-0} MeV, f_B = 179 +/- 18^{+26}_{-9} MeV, f_Bs/f_B=1.14(3)^{+0}_{-1}. Our results, which have smaller discretization errors than many previous estimates at fixed value of the lattice spacing aa, support a large value of f_B in the quenched approximation.Comment: 26 pages, 9 Postscript figure

Augustus Polonus. The Image of the Emperor in Polish Historiography in Inter-War Period. Preliminary Remarks

    Get PDF
The figure of the first Roman emperor in many ways had an impact on the Polish culture, especially in historiography and literature. In my paper I focus on some issues connected with the subject. I discuss the ideas presented by Tadeusz Zieliński, one of the most eminent researchers of the ancient world in Europe in the first part of 20th century. He devoted a significant part of his opus to present his own vision of Augustus seen as a reformer of the Roman state religion. Zieliński built the emperor’s image as the saviour of the Roman world in the face of „the end of times”. This term played significant role in Zieliński’s thinking about Roman history at the end of the Republic. For the Polish scholar celebration of the secular game in 17 BC was the final task done by Augustus. This task Zieliński defined as the sacred mission and connected with the figure of Sibyl and the impact of the Etruscan theory of saeculum. For Zieliński, Augustus belonged to the most important men of providence in Roman history. In the same way I discuss the ideas presented by Ludwik Piotrowicz and Mieczysław St. Popławski. Both scholars analised the question of imperial cult in depth. Popławski expressed original view on Augustus apotheosis seen as the development of imperial cult in transcendental perspective. Piotrowicz instead saw this problem as a purely political phenomenon. Last part of my paper is devoted to short resentation of the echos of Augustus’ bimillenium in Polish scholar activity
