Selenium levels in soil, grass and sheep: Inf luence of Se supplementation on the IgG concentration in pregnant ewes and lambs
Lead levels in water, soil and grass from Valle de Lerma, State of Mexico municipalities, dedicated to livestock
Reusable Verification Environment for a RISC-V Vector Accelerator
This paper presents a reusable verification environment developed for the verification of an academic
RISC-V based vector accelerator that operates with long vectors. In order to be used across diverse projects, this
infrastructure intends to be independent of the interface used for connecting the accelerator to the scalar processor
core. We built a verification infrastructure consisting of a Universal Verification Environment (UVM) which is
capable of validating the design performing co-simulation of the vector instructions. Moreover, we provided a set of
tests and an automated test generation, simulation and error reporting infrastructure. This paper shares our
experience on verifying a complex accelerator used in two distinct projects, with different interfaces. This research has received funding from the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (JU)

Cognitive versus emotional modulation within a Stroop paradigm in patients with schizophrenia
Background: Schizophrenia is a complex disorder involving deficits in both cognitive and emotional processes. Specifically, a marked deficit in cognitive control has been found, which seems to increase when dealing with emotional information.
Aims: With the aim of exploring the possible common links behind cognitive and emotional deficits, two versions of the emotional Stroop task were administered.
Method: In the cognitive-emotional task, participants had to name the ink colour (while ignoring the meaning) of emotional words. In contrast, the emotional-emotional task consisted of emotional words superimposed on emotional faces, and the participants had to indicate the emotional valence of the faces. Fifty-eight participants (29 in-patients diagnosed with schizophrenia and 29 controls) took part in the study.
Results: Patients and controls showed similar response times in the cognitive-emotional task; however, patients were significantly slower than controls in the emotional-emotional task. This result supports the idea that patients show a more pronounced impairment in conflict modulation with emotional content. Besides, no significant correlations between the tasks and positive or negative symptoms were found. This would indicate that deficits are relatively independent of the clinical status of patients. However, a significant correlation between the emotional-emotional task and cognitive symptoms was found.
Conclusions: These findings suggest a restricted capacity of patients with schizophrenia to deal with the attentional demands arising from emotional stimuli.Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades (PSI2018-098876-B-100Instituto de Salud Carlos III (PI16/00359)Instituto de Salud Carlos III (PI19/00766)5.165 JCR (2021) Q2, 56/155 Psychiatry1.214 SJR (2021) Q1, 106/556 Psychiatry and Mental HealthNo data IDR 2021UE
The Use of Peptides in Veterinary Serodiagnosis of Infectious Diseases: A Review
Articulo de Revisión BibliográficaPeptides constitute an alternative and interesting option to develop treatments, vaccines, and diagnostic tools as they demonstrate their scope in several health aspects; as proof of this, commercial peptides for humans and animals are available on the market and used daily. This review aimed to know the role of peptides in the field of veterinary diagnosis, and include peptide based enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (pELISA), lateral flow devices, and peptide latex agglutination tests that have been developed to detect several pathogens including viruses and bacteria of health and production relevance in domestic animals. Studies in cattle, small ruminants, dogs, cats, poultry, horses, and even aquatic organisms were reviewed. Different studies showed good levels of sensitivity and specificity against their target, moreover, comparisons with commercial kits and official tests were performed which allowed appraising their performance. Chemical synthesis, recombinant DNA technology, and enzymatic synthesis were reviewed as well as their advantages and drawbacks. In addition, we discussed the intrinsic limitations such as the small size or affinity to polystyrene membrane and mention several strategies to overcome these problems. The use of peptides will increase in the coming years and their utility for diagnostic purposes in animals must be evaluated
Structure and Functioning of Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Units in Spain : Qualitative Study
As a consequence of the decentralization of health care provision to the different Regions (called Autonomous Communities) in Spain, different health care models and resources have been developed for psychiatric patients. It would be very useful to obtain comprehensive and comparative data on health care models, resources, and activity of acute inpatient psychiatric units (AIPUs) as a key part of mental health systems. The aim of this study was to determine the current state of AIPUs in Spain through a national scorecard that allows the current situation to be visualized in terms of resources, processes, and outputs. A 104-item online questionnaire was sent to all the AIPUs of the different Regions in Spain. It was divided into 11 sections, including data on the resources, processes, and outputs of the AIPUs plus general data, an indicator dashboard, and good practices. The questionnaire was completed by 60.0% (117/195) of the AIPUs invited to participate. The information collected has allowed us to obtain a detailed snapshot of the current situation of AIPUs in Spain at the levels of infrastructure and material resources, staffing, organization and activity of the units, coordination with other units, guidelines, processes and protocols used, participation and communication with patients and their families, teaching activity, and research linked to the units. This project aimed to help understand the general situation of AIPUs in Spain and its different Regions, contribute to enhancing the benchmarking and harmonization among Spanish Regions, and provide data for future comparisons with other countries. Evaluation of Equine Infectious Anemia Virus by the Indirect Enzyme linked Immunosorbent Assay EIA-LAB as Screening Tools in Mexico
Bayesian reasoning with emotional material in patients with schizophrenia.
Delusions are one of the most classical symptoms described in schizophrenia.
However, despite delusions are often emotionally charged, they have been
investigated using tasks involving non-affective material, such as the Beads
task. In this study we compared 30 patients with schizophrenia experiencing
delusions with 32 matched controls in their pattern of responses to two
versions of the Beads task within a Bayesian framework. The two versions of
the Beads task consisted of one emotional and one neutral, both with ratios
of beads of 60:40 and 80:20, considered, respectively, as the “difficult” and
“easy” variants of the task. Results indicate that patients showed a greater
deviation from the normative model, especially in the 60:40 ratio, suggesting
that more inaccurate probability estimations are more likely to occur under
uncertainty conditions. Additionally, both patients and controls showed a
greater deviation in the emotional version of the task, providing evidence of
a reasoning bias modulated by the content of the stimuli. Finally, a positive
correlation between patients’ deviation and delusional symptomatology was
found. Impairments in the 60:40 ratio with emotional content was related to
the amount of disruption in life caused by delusions. These results contribute to
the understanding of how cognitive mechanisms interact with characteristics
of the task (i.e., ambiguity and content) in the context of delusional thinking.
These findings might be used to inform improved intervention programs in the
domain of inferential reasoning.post-print700 K
